1. QUEEN

I’ll ride with you up to the heights.

I’ll hold you during the lowest times.

When the smiles are too much to conceal.

When the tears flow out from pain we feel.

I’ll be there in your brightest hours.

In the dark, I’ll shine light onto this love of ours.

I’ll hold you down, but never back.

I’ll never stray from this vow’s track.

When the world is too much to bear,

when you need to rest—

my shoulder will be there.

I’ll kiss those lips in times of fun.

I’ll bring you back when you are gone.

I’ll be the gentleness when anger takes its run.

I’ll be the rock when you are too sluggish to go on.

Yes, I am a queen

and I’ll be yours alone

when the king in you has grown.

2. BOW

I don’t need to be rescued.

I saved myself long ago.

If my strength intimidates you

see yourself to the door.

I’m not messed up

or twisted in the head.

If you prefer to be abused

find another instead.

I’m no longer seeking an antidote

for the demons who haunt
