      LATE FOR THE GIG

      THE WORST THING about being a freelancer is that I’ve always got too little to do, or too much. It’s never just right. This time, I thought I had everything under control. Until I realized my next assignment wasn’t on planet Frej, but on planet Freja in another bloody solar system! Needless to say, I arrived late. Very late! Never great to start a gig late, because that’ll influence the next one, and then the next, in a never-ending game of dominoes.

      The second worst thing about being a freelancer is the faulty gig description. My clients this time were researchers who should be used to describing things accurately,
