Poetic Poetry: A Short Collection of Poems
()
About this ebook
Poetic Poetry is a poetry collection that speaks to the soul about everyday life. In this collection, the reader will find rhyming and contemporary pieces. Painting a picture with words, readers will experience beaches in the Carolinas, The Blue Ridge Mountains, seasons, love, faith, flowers, the pandemic, the passion of motherhood, experiences with an autistic child, and much more. Life is a journey with many ups and downs, but that doesn't mean the path you walk on isn't beautiful. Catching the poetic side of life helps people to think, to become empathetic, have hope, explore talents and passions, and understand the grey areas in the world we live in.
Three poems in this book are featured in the Autism Parenting Magazine:
- Mothering Autism
- The Silent Type
- One of a Kind

Poetic Poetry - Brittany Benko
A Mother
A mother is a child’s friend
With her young until the very end
Always present and showing love
Rules are strict with gentle shoves
She molds my character to be strong
Bright and cheerful like an upbeat song
A mother wipes away tears
Decreasing anxiety and calming fears
Showing wisdom through her years
A mother teaches her daughter to have grace
And approach a stranger with a friendly face
Always helping family and friends
Her tender heart has no end
A mother expects her kin to be bold
Pursuing their passions with a heart of gold
A mother’s eyes are simple and kind
Making me grateful she is mine
Agony
In the dim beginning and ravage of time
I thought that I could make you mine
The evenings sparkled with a spoonful of stars
The future looked bright
It was supposed to be ours
My heart is aching tangled in the past
You were mysterious
A true outcast
As the fireflies invade my night
The moon bathes me in white light
Feeling a flutter in the wind
My heart is tortured
There’s a storm within
Baby Boy
Little hands
Eyes so blue
There’s no greater presence than you
Slow to walk but full of love
All you need is a gentle shove
People notice you’re behind
But you’ll catch up within good time
Responding to music like a pro
Moving your body from your head to your toes
Fascinated by the world of cats
Learning to give gentle pats
Corn silk hair with a shine
There’s no doubt that you’re mine
Holding up arms for kisses and hugs
Everyone calls you little love bug
So eager to feel the wind on your face
Enjoying each sensation at a gradual pace
Once independence comes into hand
You’ll stand tall with your feet planted in the sand
Beachy Environment
Blue green waters
Salty air that blows my hair
A seagull flies high in the air
Laughter from children swimming in ocean waves
Mothers yell while browsing their cells at kids that misbehave
Boogie boards gliding by
Teenage boys with a gleam in their eye
Couples walk
