Welcome to the world of self-publishing. I have been here for 30-plus years and have watched the process morph and become more and more complex. The actual process has remained constant. It is the world around it that becomes complex. And, I will add, the people involved.
Publishing is simple. You create a manuscript, and you take it to a printer. Shakespeare did it, Dickens did it, Fitzgerald, Hemingway, and all of those other authors did it. The world was simpler then. Or was it?
Today, the world has become technical, in a good way. It is much easier for a writer to dash off a book and send it out into the internet hoping someone sees it and is interested enough to buy it.
OR, that writer can painstakingly work 2 or 3 years, researching, writing, plotting, rewriting, editing, formatting, and whatever else it takes to create a perfect,
