So, you’ve written a book? Well done. They say everyone’s got a book in them, and you’ve upheld the accuracy of this unreliable adage.

It took a year or 10? Well, that’s to be expected.

Now what? Monumental though the writing part is, the next steps can be even more challenging.

There are uplifting stories, such as JK Rowling getting screeds of rejections before finally locating a publisher who could see the merits of her Harry Potter manuscript, and 2020 Booker Prize winner Douglas Stuart getting turned down by no fewer than 44 publishers for Shuggie Bain.
