Dear Angels, all I want for Christmas, Liz wrote in her journal, was a NEW LIFE. Instead, her boss gave her new assignment with a deadline of midnight, December 24th: the Twelfth Day of Christmas.

Charming and Impatient, two seasoned Angels, read her plea, delayed their vacation to Aruba and took on the assignment as their Christmas Wish. (All the Angels in Heaven were to help a needful human during the Holiday Season.)

How does a new fire station, its crew, and a Dalmatian named Smithsonian make this happen?

Her pen paused...

What do I really want for Christmas?

She exhaled .

I know what I don’t want, like another unfaithful boyfriend, or another cheating girlfriend.

Click, click, click, click. Her thumb pushed the button on the top of the pen. She began to write,

Do I really want to go through all that pain and aggravation?

#1. New boyfriend?

#2. New laptop?

No, too expensive

#2. New laptop?

#3. Camera?

No, no, not now!

#3. Camera?

#4. New wardrobe? Ha, ha!

#5. New gym membership? Are you insane?

#6. New job? Possibly.

"What I really need is a NEW LIFE!   Are you listening, Angels? I NEED A WHOLE NEW LIFE!   

That is my wish for Christmas.

I need a whole new life..........."

She scribbled that last thought onto the page, snapped journal shut, threw her pen on the desk where it bounced and landed beside the book, switched the desk light off and trounced up the stairs to her bedroom.

Sorry, Angels, I didn’t mean to lose my temper. I’m a little discouraged, that’s all.

She pulled her slipper socks off, dropped them beside the bed and crawled under her comforter. She said the briefest of prayers and turned out the bedside light. Once in the darkness of her room she let the tears she had been holding back for the last few days flow onto her pillow.

Meanwhile...

High up in the stratosphere of Earth, two well-seasoned Angels heard this plea.

Charming, did you see this letter? It is all scratched up. I think she needs our help.
