The first thing you should question... is: Am I worth your time and effort in reading about this subject.

Let me begin by saying I have been exactly where you are. I wanted to write books, tell stories that meant things... at least to someone, and share some crazy possibilities. Over my lifetime to date I have read hundreds of books from the library about all the write subjects or rather right subjects. (Thankfully this is a teaching book, not a joke book as I am bad at comics. Grin.) I joined clubs, and groups on writing as they were available. I sent out my hopes and my precious dreams in large 8.5 x 11 boxes, that were never returned. (full manuscripts). In the end, I was tired.

A note here to say, I was however also successful. My actual and direct attempts often landing me articles in newspapers and magazines. Yet, that was all... I could do. Not because I did not want to do more, but time is a funny beast. It eats everything it can and gives little in return. I stress beware of this monster to be sure. It might reveal itself as work which is necessary to pay the rent, family... which should always be first, or at least second, after the big guy upstairs himself, just to be clear. Yet in our society today face book, friends on the phone apps, games that go nowhere and offer no learning possibilities, are all demons of different kinds latching on at every turn. They will take your life away, before you even begin, feeling the air beneath your wings. So, focus is key.

The world has changed much in my life time. I was in high school when the computer classes first opened. We learned bubble sort math, and used cards in machines. We taught the huge room full of moving, spinning wheels how to do tricks. We made banners. Happy Birthday, Go Lancers, and the like... We even created an elementary dating service for the 12th graders. Who is your perfect match? Not intentionally, but as I look back I see, I was the only girl in the class the first semester. I was the only one of two in the second. It was considered very Geeky to be involved with such things. Funny, I loved every moment. So I guess, I embrace my geeky side.

Later there was AOL, and waiting for the mail in our own homes. There were high costs for simple services, but the world opened... wide at the same time. You could speak to Japan, or Israel, or send messages to anywhere in the world immediately. You could receive feed back to questions... you never knew you wanted to ask, until reading something else, you never would have read, if it were not for the twists and turns of the programs just getting going. There was a book I read in junior high school. It was titled When Harley was One. It was all about the waking up of the AI computer. That means artificial intelligence. You know, Terminator stuff we see in the movies. To my surprise nearly everything I read in science fiction back then, has come to be the new now.

Focusing back on the subject at hand. The birth of the internet has changed the countenance of reading and publishing altogether. This is a two sided axe. Yes, a weapon for and against. That means more quality writing, that gets missed can be out there. It also means the same in reverse. So, to do something well, will bring the readers. That is the point. It is my goal here to teach all that I have learned to others on the road. It does not in anyway mean I am a total expert on anything all. That includes making coffee in the morning. But I love coffee, and make it well enough to drink by all, and even liked by many. So, with prayers some of this... you are reading will be helpful to you, to achieve your own goals.
