    Chapter 1: With No Destination

The warm sand crunched under Perry’s feet as he walked through the desert. He had forgotten how many hours he had been walking. The desert was extremely barren. Usually, there were cactuses and desert rabbits in the overworld, but here it was completely empty. There were no signs of life. It was just an infinite stretch of uneven ground.

That was the least strange thing about where Perry was. The sky was purple, and a blue moon lit up the whole place. Perry wasn’t quite sure what it was or where he was. He was trying to get out of the empty terrain. He was pretty thankful that his weird fatigue was gone. It would have been a nightmare if he had to take a break every five minutes.

The air was dry. The sudden random sandstorms clogged up Perry's nostrils with sand. And on top of that, there was just no end in sight to the emptiness. The desert kept going and going. Perry started wondering if he was going in circles or not. He was not enjoying his time at all. He just wanted to see something that wasn’t sand.

Perry finally decided to take a break. He didn’t feel tired, but he didn’t want to keep walking. He stopped to think about how he was going to approach his weird problem. He thought that finding Trevor would be the most challenging part but getting out of the desert seemed to be the real challenge. He never thought that he would struggle this much trying to get out of the desert.

Perry suddenly realized yet another strange thing about this desert. Daytime never came! He was pretty sure he had been walking for over a day, but the blue moon never set. Perry had a lot of questions. Was he actually making any progress? Was he trapped inside an illusion of some sort? He wasn’t sure if he could even get out of this place or not.

The whole ordeal was extremely confusing. But Perry didn’t really have any other option. He could do only one thing, and that was to continue walking. Perry’s inventory was completely empty, which gave rise to more problems. He didn’t have a weapon to defend himself or any tools to help him. He wished he had a compass to at least be sure that he was going in the right direction, but he didn’t have that privilege.

The sand grains were getting coarser. Perry could tell because he was closely examining the sand as he had nothing else to do. The place still looked the same, but it felt different. The whole place had only changed ever so slightly, but Perry noticed it. He was examining everything as closely as he could, and this slight change in the atmosphere was enough to convince him that he was making progress.

A little bit of hope returned to Perry. It was enough to keep him going for now. He kept pressing forward. And finally, after walking for a few more hours, he saw a clump of black and green far in the distance. Perry’s face immediately lit up. There was something different in the distance, something that wasn’t just sand.

Perry started running as fast as he could. He couldn’t wait to see what it was. He felt relief beyond comprehension. He finally knew for certain he wasn’t walking in circles. He quickly approached the weird-looking place and realized that the clumps of messy colors were actually weird trees.

The trees had black bark that almost looked burnt, but the leaves were green and lush. There was a cluster of eight of these trees. Beyond the trees was even more desert, but a clear stream of water breached the infinite stretch of orange and approached the cluster of greens. Perry decided to take a dip in the water. He took off his helmet and placed it near a tree as he jumped into the water.

What Perry was feeling was indescribable. He was walking for who knows how many hours in the desert. There wasn’t a sun, but it was still very hot. Perry was immune to fatigue, but it wasn’t really a pleasant experience walking for hours upon hours in a blazing desert. He washed away all the sand between his toes and behind his ears in the stream.

Perry then sat on the bank with his feet still in the water. His feet were sore with blisters. It was partially because of the heat and because he didn’t have any boots on. Soaking his feet somewhat relieved the pain, but he wasn’t sure if he could continue walking or not.

Suddenly, Perry had an idea. He could just use a boat and follow the stream. He immediately felt stupid for not thinking about the boat. It was such an obvious solution. He got up, picked up his helmet, and started breaking down the trees. After running his brain for a while, Perry figured that one of those trees was enough to make a crafting table, a boat, and some very primitive tools. So, Perry got to work.

The trees looked different, but they broke exactly the same as the ones in the Overworld. Perry was worried that the logs were actually burnt. He turned the logs into planks and made a crafting table, a boat, and a pickaxe. He also wanted to make a sword, but he was a bit short on wood. He didn’t feel like chopping down another tree just for a sword. He also didn’t encounter any monsters, so he wasn’t too worried about not having a sword.

Perry picked up the crafting table and placed his boat on the water. He quickly hopped on and started rowing. The boat was way faster than walking. Perry’s feet were getting some much-needed rest, and he was also making progress in his journey.

The only problem was that he didn’t know where the stream would lead him. He was also unsure of which direction he was going. He was worried that he might be going backward instead. Perry didn’t want to walk anymore, so there wasn’t really any other option. All he could do was stay optimistic and keep rowing.

    Chapter 2: The Mystic Forest

The stream of water slowly got broader and broader until it transformed into a river. A full-fledged river in the barren desert. There still weren’t any signs of life. The desert was still quite desolate. Perry didn’t see any more trees. The river was quite calm, so rowing wasn’t as bad as Perry thought it would be.

Things were looking quite good for Perry. Before the river started going crazy. It started warping into curves and turns. It became impossible to navigate. Perry rammed his boat into the sandstones trying to make the turns which left the boat damaged.

He went way slower in order to avoid any more crashes. If his boat broke down, he didn’t have any more wood to make a new one. There weren’t any trees either, so he had to be very careful. Perry had no idea in which direction he was going. He was getting a bit worried that he had gotten lost. His optimism was fading as he became more and more unsure where the river leads to.

Thankfully, the river calmed down and became a bit tamer. The turns straightened out, and Perry could now row a bit faster. He didn’t have to worry too much about ramming his boat into the sandstone bank anymore.

The desert eventually started to become greener. There were sugarcanes and cacti scattered alongside the river. Patches of dirt and grass appeared on the previously barren sand. The river became even wider. Perry was pretty sure he was entering a new biome.

The river then split into two directions. Perry was again faced with a decision. Both streams looked identical, so Perry wasn’t sure which way he should go. He reluctantly rowed to the left branch of the river and soon ended up in a lake.

The lake was huge. It stretched at least two hundred blocks in diameter. And on the other side of the lake was what seemed to be a huge forest. Perry jumped in joy.

Finally! I'm out! Perry shouted in relief. He started rowing as fast as he could. In the middle of the lake, Perry noticed a separation in the water. The color of the water was slightly bluer toward the forest. He didn’t think much of it and went past it. He swiftly made his way to the shore, where he was greeted by magnificent dark oak trees.

Dark oak trees were one of the largest species of trees, but they were also on the rarer side. You don’t just stumble upon a bunch of dark oak trees. These trees look magnificent, and cutting down one tree can provide all the wood you would
