Divine Illumination - SUMAN DEBNATH
Sutra 1: Become aware of the space between your thoughts.
Sutra 1 of the Vijnana Bhairava Tantra is a simple instruction, but it is also a profound one. It asks us to become aware of the space between our thoughts.
Our minds are constantly chattering, generating thoughts, emotions, and memories. It can be difficult to find a moment of silence, but the space between our thoughts is always there. It is the ground of our being, the source of our creativity and awareness.
The practice of becoming aware of the space between our thoughts can help us to:
• Gain insight into our thought patterns
• Reduce stress and anxiety
• Increase our focus and concentration
• Enhance our creativity
• Experience a sense of peace and well-being
There are many different ways to practice becoming aware of the space between our thoughts. One simple way is to sit quietly and focus on your breath. As you breathe in, notice the space before the thought arises. As you breathe out, notice the space after the thought disappears.
Another way to practice is to simply observe your thoughts as they arise. Don't judge them, don't try to change them, just observe them. Notice the space between each thought.
The more you practice, the more you will become aware of the space between your thoughts. This awareness can lead to a profound shift in your perspective, helping you to see the world in a new way.
Here are some additional tips for practicing Sutra 1:
• Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed.
• Sit in a comfortable position, either on the floor or in a chair.
• Close your eyes and focus on your breath.
• Notice the space before and after each thought.
• Don't judge your thoughts, just observe them.
• Be patient and consistent with your practice.
With regular practice, you will begin to see the space between your thoughts more clearly. This can lead to a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you.
Sutra 2: Meditate on the point where your breath leaves your body.
Sutra 2 of the Vijnana Bhairava Tantra asks us to meditate on the point where our breath leaves our body. This is a subtle practice that can be difficult to master, but it can be very rewarding.
The point where our breath leaves our body is the point of contact between our inner and outer worlds. It is the place where we experience the flow of life, the coming and going of breath.
Meditating on this point can help us to become more aware of our breath, our body, and our connection to the present moment. It can also help us to let go of thoughts and emotions, and to experience a sense of peace and well-being.
Here are some tips for practicing Sutra 2:
• Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed.
