Is There Starlight Within Us?

Many years ago, I acquired a profound insight from reading The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. In the book’s introduction, he discusses a man 3,000 years ago who had an epiphany. He looked up at the stars on a clear night and heard his voice say: I am made of light; I am made of stars. This realization changed the man’s life; everyone could sense his transformation.

Now, let’s consider: could it possibly be true that we are made of light and stars? Are we Starlight?

Our most prominent light source is the sun, which is a star, and some of that light passes through us or is absorbed by us. If something is going through us or is absorbed by us, then it is a part of us. It is us.

We are Starlight, as we have Starlight within us.

We are used to seeing our human selves only as hard matter. But in reality, we are solid (e.g., skin and bones), liquid (e.g., water), gas (e.g., oxygen), and energy (e.g., electricity). And part of that energy is the Starlight that permeates us.

We don’t see the light passing through because only part of the light spectrum is actually visible to humans. But some of it is going through.

Also, keep in mind that light is a raw energy source for plants. And humans eat plants, or we eat animals that eat plants. One way or another, the source of energy traces back to light.

In the Bible, God’s first words are, Let there be light. Without light, we could not obtain energy or see, and we would not even exist.

Modern science also tells us that the matter that makes up humans and life originally came from the stars. This makes sense if you think of it, as before there were humans or life on Earth, there were stars. The carbon from the stars is in your blood, bones, skin, hair, and muscle. It’s the second most abundant element in the human body and is essential for life.

In just a few paragraphs above, you can see that we all come from the stars. We are stardust. And we have Starlight within us. These are transformative insights.

We are stars who may have forgotten or were never fully aware of our power. I am only here to remind you and help guide you to the immense power within you.

Now that you see the literal idea that we are Starlight, let’s consider a metaphorical perspective. Starlight represents goodness, unlimited potential, inspiration, love, truth, joy, hope, excellence, and enlightenment.

If we look sincerely at our own lives, or the lives of people we have known, we see that sometimes we have a lot of Starlight to spread and give, but other times, we feel drained or fall into some kind of darkness. Either way, this book will help ensure you attract all the Starlight you can and spread it to others as well. Starlight is the energy that guides us to create the best life and world that we can together.

I hope you begin to see there is so much more to humans than we think. We are matter and energy, and a part of that includes light. Also, beyond just material, there is a whole immaterial world of thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

Starlight is the perfect analogy for this book, as light can be viewed as both matter and energy (which is immaterial). It is anything and everything, just like you can be.

This book explores the limitless potential inside us and our Starlight energy.

I was given a copy of this book to review

I really enjoyed this book. As others have said, it's not the sort of book that you read from cover to cover. I found it best to read an essay and if it resonates with you, read it again, take notes, meditate on it then spend time digesting what the essay presented and ideally journaling on the theme.

This book will provide you with opportunities to expand your thinking regardless of how far you are on your journey.

The book's greatest strength, in my opinion, was its ability to connect with readers on a personal and emotional level. The author's writing was poetic and beautiful, and it conveyed a sense of wisdom and empathy that was truly profound. The insights were well-crafted and thought-provoking.
