    PROLOGUE

There are ancient beings simply called The Co, using the blue fluid space to travel thru in order to explore the next galaxy. They have lived and explored for billions of years in this galaxy. Now they’ve decided to leave the younger species to grow in their own way while they go to explore another galaxy. There are tens of thousands of living ships that range in size from small fighters to Motherships the size of planets.

They are like a big swarm as they cruise past a small abnormality in space. One small ship peeled off to investigate this unusual anomaly of light. When the ship got closer, it found two young beings with the light. There is a small male being holding the ball of light with a small female being holding him.

What amazed The Co was that they were living in Blue Fluid Space without any protection. Only their living ships which were specially engineered could survive in this space and yet the small ones were here. It was sensed that the small beings were very old, even older than their race.

The Co had thought for many millennia that they were the first species of this galaxy, now obviously they are not.

Out of curiosity, all the ships came to a stop and the smaller vessels moved to encircle the small beings. The small male being was heard by every Co, saying, Greetings. We have been here a very long time with the light that appeared from a vortex just after we arrived and now you are here. Are you good or bad? Answer well or your journey will end here.

    Time passed.

A small shuttle left one of the larger vessels and moved closer. It opened up to reveal a Co surrounded by a skin-tight energy bubble that moved closer to the small beings. The Co looked carefully at the small ones and then respectfully answered, We are The Co. and we are also an old race. We have made mistakes and are not perfect but we are good. Could we ask who you are and what is your race called?

I have no name but this ball of light calls me, Cyp Prien. The other being like me, he gestured to the female behind, and the light arrived later. She is called Kist and the ball is called Chloe. I am not part of any race ….I am here and here is me.

    There was a pause.

The Co then invited, Would you like to come with us?

The male being responded solemnly, Yes, we would like that. Before we go, I need to find the other half of the light. Could you look after them while I search for the partner to the light? Then we will travel with you.

The Co closed her eyes, and she started to glow. In response, all the ships also glowed. She opened her eyes, smiled at the small male being, and said, We agree and will care for them until you return.

The small male being nodded, and then a rift appeared in space. Before he left, the Co asked the small male being, Do you know where the partner of this light is?

Yes, before we arrived in this space, I was already on the way towards the system where the light’s partner exists. But there was some kind of time storm, and I was separated from my vessel. She continued on towards our destination. At first, I didn’t know what had happened. I lingered. I watched your species build your tunnels as well as watched other races travelling through them. I learnt many things from them on their travels through. This is how I knew that your words weren’t empty. Then this light and Kist appeared out of a time dimensional vortex. The light gave us images of its partner and home world. I felt I had to stay to protect it and keep it company. Fortunately, I can still sense the direction in which my vessel was travelling, and it is the same time destination as the images we received from the light.

The young male said goodbye to the light and told S'Tol that he would return. He turned, then disappeared into a rift.

I n the early hours of a warm night with a bright full moon shining, a tall thin fair-skinned nineteen-year-old woman with white hair, silver eyes, and long legs was relaxing in an old bay window sill. With the moonlight illuminating her naked body, she had a hand on her stomach and the opposite leg hanging down as she watched the stars and moon.

An old alarm clock bell was heard, and a nineteen-year-old man reached over to turn it off. The young man with strange deep electrical blue hair and almost glowing blue eyes put his head back down on the pillow but remained silent. He lay there admiring the moment of her sitting there with the grey-blue moonlight hue on her body with the peaceful and content expression on her face. It was like nothing mattered, except for this moment, even though he knew that they needed to start moving soon, in order to get to the beach in time for the show.

The young woman with a serious expression looked straight into the young man’s face. After a few minutes, there was suddenly a sound that broke the silence.

Why are you looking at me like that for, Flame? I didn’t do that! That was you!

No, it was you, Blue, she replied, trying to keep a serious face.

After a minute of staring at each other, they both started to laugh until they realised it was time to get moving or they would be late. As Flame got off the window sill, she said, Go take your shower, and I’ll write a note to Mother Hayley letting her know that we’ll be going to see the asteroid shower at the beach and we will be back before breakfast.

All right, I’ll be quick, Blue answered as he went into the small adjoining bathroom. After finishing the note, Flame quietly sneaked into the bathroom and surprised Blue. As the door closed, you could hear Blue saying, Oh, you’ll get it now, which was followed by Flame’s high cheerful giggles.

They spent more time in the shower than they planned. They left the orphanage and were on the way to the beach when Flame noticed in the sky that the asteroid show had already started. She was disappointed, but Blue looked up and said, "Oh yeah, it has, but the Stargazers Weekly said that it should last for a while."

I would have liked to have been here for the start.

Me too, but look, not a cloud in the sky, so we’re still getting an excellent show.

Flame agreed, and their walking pace slowed as they admired the asteroid display. Shortly they were at the beach setting up and settling in for the remainder of the night with Blue sitting and Flame having her head on his lap as they watched the asteroids streaking through the night sky. Sometime later, Flame fell asleep. Blue smiled and kissed her good night on her forehead. He looked back at the sky and said, One day I wish we could go out there to the stars.

Flame, with a soft smile on her face, sleepily replied, I would love that too.

Blue kissed Flame again and said in a heroic voice, All right then, Captain Flame, we’re going to space!

Flame giggled. I love you, Cyprien.

    I love you too, Chloe.

Chloe went back to sleep, and Cyprien continued to watch the sky until he drifted off to sleep a short time later.

Back at the orphanage, Mother Hayley was doing her morning rounds with a newcomer to the orphanage, Sister Thea. They came to Chloe and Cyprien’s room and knocked on their door. After a minute or two, there was no reply. So Mother Hayley slowly opened the door and in a gentle voice said, Children, it’s time to wake up now, but still there was no reply. Mother Hayley and Sister Thea slowly walked into the room. They noticed that the bed was made, and the window was closed. As Mother Hayley opened the window, letting in a light northern breeze, Sister Thea found a letter to Mother Hayley. She gave it to her. However, Mother Hayley found on checking her pockets that she’d left her glasses behind.

She handed it back to Sister Thea, saying, Would you mind reading this to me as I seem to have misplaced my glasses.

Of course, Mother! Sister Thea started to read.

"Mother Hayley, Blue and I finally finished our storybook last night. We called it . . . Chloprien. All we need to do is to find the right publisher. We’ve left it next to this letter."

Mother Hayley and Sister Thea were curious, so they went over to the writing desk where they saw a very large thick book wrapped in heavy cloth. When they unwrapped it, the book looked like it was taken straight out of a fantasy story that showed ancient mystical creatures. The book was made out of thick exotic wood as if it had just been taken straight from the tree with all its imperfections. It had breathtakingly detailed carved sides, and they were joined together with a wooden piano hinge that was apart on each side. The two leather buckles at the top and bottom held the book close.

On the front cover, there were two carved busts inside a circle. One was of a female hybrid springbok (antelope) and a human on the left side, while on the right side was a male ram and human hybrid. They were facing each other with their foreheads touching. In the bottom right corner, there were five adventurers sitting around a campfire: a female elf mage, a male warrior, a female priestess, a hunter/scholar dwarf, and an enchanted wooden doll about the size of a ten-year-old human child who was eating an apple.

In the top-right corner, there were five demon warriors with the leader standing in the middle in heavy battle mage armour.

On the bottom left, there were four groups of people: four high-ranking soldiers, three scientists, two kings, and behind them five angels.

On the top left, there was a mysterious man sitting on an ancient stone throne wearing old-looking robes with a hood covering the top half of his face. In front of him were five different types of fierce small nightmare creatures that stood level with his knee. On his left side was an evolved hybrid version of the small ones but five times bigger. On his right was a similar female creature who was twice as big again and had human features. She was wearing intricate beast hide armour.

In the middle of the top was the name of the story: Chloprien. The title was circled by twisted vines with leaves along them, and between them on the outside were different fauna and flora from the story.

Mother Hailey and Sister Thea were astonished at how much colour and detail was in the work. Sister Thea asked in an excited voice, Can we open it?

Sure. I don’t think they would mind. So they gently opened the book to the first page. Sister Thea noticed that the paper was a very high grade, higher than was normally used in a book. Before she could ask about it, Mother Hayley read the title page which was in a larger print.

    By C. C. Waters

    For House

    For Family

    For the New Light

    For You

Mother Hayley had heard this creed before, a long time ago when she was a teenager, but she just couldn’t remember where or when. She then noticed that Sister Thea was looking at her, and she was quite upset.

    What’s wrong?

    C. C. Waters?

Yes, that’s their pen name, replied Mother Hayley, who was confused because she wasn’t sure what Sister Thea was trying to say.

Brother and sister? Sleeping together? Oh ooooo, no no no! God no!

Understanding her distress, Mother Hayley tried to explain what was going on.

"When I was a teenager, I was lost with no home, no money, and I couldn’t even speak the language. But I was lucky that Mother Superior Kaylee took me in and taught me all she knew.

"A month or two later, a baby boy was found nearby and was brought here. We contacted child services who sent one of their doctors to check the baby out and found out that it was quite healthy. Because they were understaffed, the child services asked if we could look after the baby for a short time while they located the parents. We, of course, agreed; and because I was the newest member, I was assigned to look after the baby. After a month or so, child services rang to say that there was no sign of the parents or anybody that knew anything about the baby. They considered the baby to be abandoned. They were going to get one of their officers to take the baby to a carer while they arranged for the child to be put in an orphanage. I had become quite fond of the child and asked Mother Superior whether I could adopt the child. She was amenable to this, as long as I kept up with my assigned duties. The child services agreed, and I became a mother to Cyprien.

"Over the next two years, three of our senior sisters got the call from God, and the hierarchy was planning to close down our house because it wasn’t financially viable to maintain a place suitable for twenty-six people, with only seven including Cyprien. Also, the community was diminishing in size, which was contributing to the problem. But luckily Mother Superior had an idea to save our house by turning it into an orphanage. So she contacted child services again about what changes they would need to become an authorised orphanage. Under the guidelines from the hierarchy and child services, we changed and upgraded our house to a female-only orphanage. Cyprien was moved into this large room with his own shower and toilet. A few years later, when Cyprien was about five, we got a new child whose name was Chloe, and she was a couple of months older than him.

Chloe and her parents were involved in a light plane crash near our orphanage, and both her parents died. Unfortunately, because of the accident, Chloe suffered severe internal injuries which resulted in her having lost the ability to ever have children. As well, an error at the hospital meant she was given tainted blood, and there was a big investigation into the matter. She got something like leukaemia or a new strain of it.

Oh, that poor girl, said Sister Thea. How is she surviving so long? Most people only survive five or six years.

What do you mean? replied Mother Hayley. Oh, sorry, Sister Thea, do you know someone that has cancer?

Yes, my old friend’s younger sister had it, but she only survived four and a half years after being diagnosed when she was five.

I’m sorry if this upsets you. Do you want me to continue? queried Mother Hayley.

    Yes, please do.

"Anyway, the treatments didn’t work and actually made things worse. As well, because of her weakened state and her age, the doctors decided not to attempt radiation therapy. For some reason, the disease halted, and the doctors felt that it might have gone into remission. All they could do was monitor her in case they ever saw this type of cancer again. The doctors believe that the reason she’s still alive is a combination of our healthy environment, the people around her, and Cyprien who stayed with her, keeping her spirits up and her stress levels low.

"When Chloe was fourteen, she asked me if I could become her real mother. That day made me so happy. We went to child services the very next day and started all the formalities. With no barriers to adoption, she became my daughter a month later.

"Unfortunately, three months after her eighteenth birthday, the doctors found that her cancer had become active once again, but somehow her body was fighting back and seemed to be killing the cancer. They requested that she come in more regularly for scans, which we did. Three months later, we got an urgent call to see the doctors. They were shocked to report that the lower half of her body was now almost cancer free and the upper body levels had dropped by 15 percent. They wanted to know what had changed in her environment, diet, or even habits.

"We replied that nothing had really changed. Chloe and Cyprien are going for walks more often. She eats a lot more, doesn’t seem as tired, and has put on two or three kilos. The doctor still didn’t understand what was going on and would like to see her every month now. But we couldn’t afford to every month. The doctors said not to worry. They said from now on they would be picking up all the costs because if they could figure out what was happening to Chloe’s body, not only would she benefit but many other people with cancer could benefit as well.

"Over the next five months, her visits went from monthly to every fortnight. Unfortunately, eight weeks ago the doctors said that the tests now showed that the cancer was in her brain. It is still small, and with the way her body was fighting this cancer, if Chloe could hang on for about three more months, she should be clear of cancer.

So Chloe has a few more weeks before she could be clean of cancer, but . . . it’s in the brain now!

Yes . . . It’s the most dangerous time for her. There’s also another thing. The doctors said – and you’ll find out as well – on the last visit, two weeks ago, that she is six weeks pregnant.

What . . . how . . . you said six minutes ago that she couldn’t have children!

Yes, I know. The head doctor apologised and said that there was an oversight. They looked back over Chloe’s medical history, and up to nine weeks ago she couldn’t, but for some reason, the uterus has grown back!

    What . . . that’s impossible! Our organs don’t grow back.

Yes, the doctors agree on that too, but it did! They even have the before and after scans to prove it. It is fully developed.

Seriously, no one knew, not the doctor and not even Chloe? How about her periods? Did she realise she missed one?

No, she didn’t have one at all. According to the doctors, as soon as the uterus was fully developed, her body just started up like normal. One of her eggs was discharged; and before you knew it, bingo, a new baby begins.

That’s wholly unfair! Not one period! That’s one big oversight that the doctors made.

Well, a uterus is quite small; and since it wasn’t there ten weeks ago, the operators weren’t looking for it – just that the scans were as clear as possible for the doctors. They did three scans at that time, but the last scan was done with their new scanning machine. It was called ummm . . . 3 . . . D . . . ultra . . . yes, yes, that’s what it was called, 3D ultrasound scanning. The last operator congratulated her on the new healthy baby, and that surprised as well as confused us. When Chloe saw her new baby, she was so happy that she started crying. The operator looked confused, and I explained Chloe’s history. The operator was also shocked and confused. ‘That’s impossible. They must have got it wrong.’ The operator quickly excused herself and left the room to get the head doctor.

    Wow . . . that’s . . . wow . . . does he know?

Not yet, but I believe she’s going to tell him very soon. They stood in silence, then their attention went back to the book. Sister Thea gently turned to the next page. What they saw astonished them. It was the two centre figures from the front of the book sparring together, but now you could see the whole body. A hybrid of animal and human. The feet, legs, and head were animal-like, while the arms, hands, torso, neck, and the way they were standing were human-like. The skin was covered in fur and hair similar to an animal. The background was of a sunny winter’s day on an open field in run-down ancient ruins with snow all around. Close to the ruins was a shadowy bat-bird hybrid figure watching them.

The picture looked like a professional had taken it with the best camera you can get. Sister Thea asked, How did they get a professional to do their makeup and costumes as well as these photos? No way they could afford all this work!

Mother Hayley reached over to one of the shelves on the writing desk and picked up a large magnifying glass and gave it to Thea, saying, Have a very close look at the picture.

As she looked, she noticed that it wasn’t a photograph but an oil painting. Sister Thea gently looked through some of the other pages and then looked back at Mother Hayley in astonishment. These are brilliant!

Yes, they are. I saw Cyprien doing some of the painting, and both of them made something out of wood from a very rare and quite old tree. It was in the forest at the back of the orphanage and came down in a bad storm we had. They’d been talking about this story for a few years, but what they’ve done is, like you said, brilliant!

Sister Thea gently turned back to the beginning of the story and began to read.

"In a different realm of blue energy, there was a bubble. In that bubble was a solar system. On the fourth planet, there were two main groups of beings. One was a group of elemental beings of energy from the nature elements of fire, air, earth, water, and with the non-elementals of light and dark. These were divided into three levels. Wisps with similar abilities to fish and birds, Sprite who were like dolphins and chimpanzees, and the Wyver who were much like humans in intelligence but higher.

"The second group was the first mortals, a combination of animals and humans, who could also wield the four elements to some extent.

"It was in a large valley, which was called Chloprien, where the four elements came together in a unique fulcrum. On the northern side is an active volcano mountain range, and on the southern side were more mountains at a similar height as the northern range but with more rugged terrain. Going through the wide valley to the eastern end was the sea, and to the west were the hunting grounds and the unknown lands. Through the middle of the valley travelled a large stream to the sea.

"The villages were near their elements. The earth villagers who were the hunters and farmers were in the centre, the water villagers who were fishermen were near the sea, and the fire villagers who were known for their wonderful gems and minerals were along the side of the volcano range, and the air villagers who collected special essences from the air
