About this ebook

Star Seed Trilogy is based in the far future from our current time. In the start of the first book, humans live in floating cities since the surface of the earth is nothing but dried dirt. There are no plants or water on the surface. The animals present on the surface are large and mutated. A solar flare that happened in 2020 (using a date since we never placed one in the book) 5038 is the current time for the book. The government rules over the people.

Some work in sanctuaries, where the plants that were saved are held to keep them growing and alive to keep oxygen in the atmosphere. Kaiya and Kouji, the twin sound elementals, want to find a flower called Star Seed to get their bodies back, which are rattled with dieses. They go on this journey to find the Star Seed and encounter a species called Guardians, which are the giant animals that help them through the book. But they also encounter the giant mutated animals on the surface where their lives are put in danger.

As the creatures and elementals fight for their lives on this journey, they also must fight with General Hughes from the government who is power -hungry. In the end, the world is returned to its true self of living life. There is a war that prolongs through the end of the book but does end. There is a lot of bloodshed through the book, some for the greater good, and some for greed. Which side will win and rise to continue with life, this is where you would read and find out on your journey with them.

    PROLOGUE

E ARTH SAID, TO have lived on after humankind disappeared from its surface, but long into the future. Humankind has found ways to thrive. Making life easier and less stressful was technology that had grown by leaps and bounds. The consequences for creating this future, was death for Earth. No one knows for sure, but as technology advanced and became the main source for survival, they began to ignore the needs for the blue planet, and so it became a planet filled with death.

Water rapidly disappeared from the surface; it caused most of the life forms to die. With what mankind could salvage: Were a few life forms that were able to adapt and survive. Now with Humankind living in cities that actually float in the air, there are some Sanctuaries that act as greenhouses that support the remaining plant life. Run and monitored by scientists that hope to one day restore the earth back to its lush green form. The remaining human population keeping to the skies, some of them not caring to returning the planet back to normal, but to those who still believe, they work endlessly to find hope.

One of the floating cities called Olympus that man now lives on, above the desolate dried up surface. The Government reigns supreme as most of the old traditions have been disregarded for new ones, although there are some who still remain with old traditions. Creatures that were once their own species are now combined, forming new dangerous ones that would feed on humans and other species. Some of the creatures still held their true shapes, but became flesh eating creatures eating anything and everything. Though do to the mutations of the Earth’s creatures, they had grown quite large once the humans had completely fled from the surface.

    CHAPTER 1

T HE GIRL SITS quietly as her eyes are closed and she focuses’ on the music playing on her headphones. The red headphones looking like the old styled music headsets that were popular back in the day, but if looked at closer it appears like they’re actually attached to her head in place of where her ears are. But her dark violet hair that’s down to her back and put in a low ponytail, with parts of her hair falling out naturally on the sides of her face help obscure them from a distance. She’s wearing an old fashion style fighting kimono that is a light purple and white, with black shorts and her skirt cut down the sides of her legs. On her right arm is a tech that she uses and on the side of her is a red hover board she rides. Behind her a shadow creeps up slowly. The girl smirks as just before it gets too close, she says in a playful manner.

Try it Kouji and I swear I’ll punch you so hard I’ll break more than your nose.

Another person appears, this one being a boy who looks remarkably like the girl, having short dark violet hair and dark blue eyes and wearing similar clothing like the girl, but made for a priest. Kouji also has a headset that resembles the girl’s but his are blue and in his hands is a blue hover board. The guy called Kouji humps’ as he lightly glares at his twin sister.

Like you can bear to hit your only twin brother Kaiya. Kaiya stands up as she lightly dusts off her skirt and grabs her board with one hand facing her twin brother.

Whatever, stop being dramatic bro. Kouji just smirks scoffing as he goes up to her.

Sorry I’m late. I had to do a few more things to do before we could leave.

Like what? Mother said she had everything taken care of.

We had to be sure that they bought our little lie before we were certain. You just left suddenly and didn’t pay attention.

Not my fault. I want to get going already. We never have a chance to leave without supervision from those high up snobs. So, is everything ready?

    Well yes but…

Good! Let’s go! Kaiya, doesn’t wait as she turns and quickly jumps off the edge falling face first down. Kouji sighs at his sisters impatience and follows suite jumping off the city’s boundaries in one of the Sanctuaries.

There was an elderly looking man, he had very few hairs on his head having a white beard; he wore a lab coat as he walked around with a cane. He had yellow eyes that stuck out the most in his 80’s features; the man’s name was Armen. He had been working in these sanctuaries’ ever since they were first built, after the Earth’s surface had died completely and the animals started to change. There were some humans that were changed as well; some of these changes came to be noticed by eye colors being a bright yellow. Others had their skin change, though most who didn’t look human was detained and held captive. Used as experiments, Armen knew much of what was happening around him.

He was staying at these facilities to remain safe from the government and continue on his journey, he had his friends that were doing most of the work as he did his. He knew it wouldn’t be long till the true adventure would begin, the last two members would soon show up and he would point them in the right direction. He came to a stop looking out a window as a dust cloud could be seen forming off in the distance, he sighed quietly as he smiled he could feel his friends growing closer. Though before Armen could send the last two members on their journey with his friends he would have to send them to an old ruin, a place where they will learn what had really happened to the world before they could carry on with their journey. He would meet up with them again when the time came, but like all journeys Armen knew it would be dangerous and obstacles in the way.

The twins continue to free fall through the air. Both not looking concerned at all as they fly through a few of the white clouds and then fall out as they see the dried earth below. As they get closer to the ground, they quickly turn right side up and put their boards below on their feet. Once settled, Kaiya moves the heel of her foot back against the board, a few buttons located on its edge as they help control the rider control the board. Once her heel touches the switch, the board revs to life as it starts to push a strong gust of air below, starting to help slow down her decent. Her twin brother doing the same as they both started to slow down in decent. Once they’re close enough to the ground, the air helps bounce them and glide on the dried earth. Dust following after them as they ride a little ways above the ground. Kaiya smiling as she reaches up and activates her headset.

Follow me Kouji; I’ve got an echo map of the sanctuary. Her brothers voice sounds on her headset as he rides behind her.

    Lead the way.

They both continue to ride for a while as Kaiya leads the way. Her headset having a hologram in front of her eyes as it displays a map of where they’re going. The twins being no ordinary people, being two of nine beings who are being watched and monitored because of what they are. Only a few knowing what they are exactly. Kaiya perks up as up ahead they see a building coming in to view. One of a few buildings called Sanctuaries that try to keep the plant life alive. The twins always making frequent trips to them when they have a chance to ask questions or get information. The twins working towards finding something. Something special and thought to be make-believe, but to them, it’s their ray of hope. As they close in to the building, Kaiya connects to the buildings communication signal saying.

This is Kaiya and Kouji from the shrine of elements temple. We’re a little behind schedule, but we’re arriving now.

Armen was walking through the hallways of the sanctuaries, his old white hair moved ever so slightly in rhythm with his slow walking. He turned into a more open room as he was moving, off in the distance he could hear Kaiya and Kouji’s voices.

Ah young ones, I see you have finally made it though a bit behind time. Armen said out before he walked into the room the twins were in, it wasn’t long after that he spoke out that he was slowly walking into the room. His white lab coat was rubbing against the floor do to being to long for his old body; he was also using a cane that was made of pure mahogany wood with carvings of animal heads.

The twins smile to the scientists as they greet them respectfully. The twins and their family being few who believe that what they are doing is benefiting rather than a waste like some believe. Their boards strapped to their backs as they have their hands free.

Kaiya finishes shaking one of their hands as she says, Thank you for covering for us.

Armen looked to Kaiya, you are more then welcome. How can I help the children of the Grand Elemental? He asked back as he stood before the two before looking over a few planted Roses, all of different colors to represent the elements and time of year from the old Earth.

Kaiya smiles to Armen happily from the welcome they were receiving. Just trying to make sure that pest of a General sees that we actually came here so he doesn’t get suspicious if we’re followed.

That way we can go to our real location. Kouji adds in smirking.

Kaiya nods then looks to Armen and holding up her arm, projecting a digital map with a red blinking dot. We’re going to this location.

Ah, I see. I don’t know if you both know this or not, but there is an old ruins not to far from there. We’ve sent a few search parties but they never found anything to their likings, maybe you two will have better luck then them. I know you both have great likes in finding fascinating things then other people. Armen replied as he chuckled slightly, I can help cover and say you two are here helping me out with a project of mine. While you two are off doing your little exploring and adventures, Armen continued.

Kaiya looks very happy smiling to Armen. That’s what we were hoping for, there’s a sandstorm coming and we wanted to use it as covers to move out while you all here make it like we’re still here. Thanks a lot!

Kaiya, lets go before the storm lets up. Our sound barriers can keep us from getting lost but it will let up soon, Kouji spoke up.

right, thanks again. Kaiya says waving to Armen, as her and Kouji start to head out toward the exit. Getting their boards ready, Armen nodded as he watched the two of them leave. He turned and hobbled back to his office, sensing his friends weren’t far off from the sanctuary but enough to not be heard.

Outside in the sandstorm there was creatures moving, heading in a direction that they seemed to have walked for ages. One of the creatures let out a roar as it echoed out, its giant body being pushed by the wind of the storm and being pelted by the sand. Kaiya suddenly winces as she holds her headset, which suddenly gave off a strong roar. She stops in place in the middle of the storm, trying to make her ears stop ringing.

Shit that hurt! Kaiya said as Kouji stops turning his board to face Kaiya, Hey! What happened? Kouji asked.

Give me a second, and don’t yell! My ears hurt enough. Kaiya shakes her head to try to make the ringing stop, as she wonders what the heck the noise was.

What happened? Kouji asks quietly this time, using his headset to let him speak to Kaiya through the storm.

I heard something, like a giant roar. Kaiya replied.

Like from a wolfbat? Kouji asked.

No, you have the sound of a wolfbat’s cry saved; it didn’t sound like it at all. Kaiya replied.

Well, we better not stick around to find out what it was. Lets go, we’re almost there. Kouji turns and revs up his board to move, Kaiya looking confused still wondering what she heard, but knows her brother is right as she revs up her board after her brother. On their maps it shows they’re almost to the ruins.

The two creatures continue to walk, though as one neared the other one it looked closely into the fur of the first one to check on something that was much smaller then them as it held on for its life. It wasn’t to long till the two creatures came upon an entrance that lead down into the ground, the giant creatures wasted no time to enter the hole and get out of the storm. Down below the surface where the creatures entered was a cavern, it was quite large and dark, the two carried on heading down further off a small trail before they came to a stop at a cliff that dropped 100 feet down. The two looked at each other before they headed down the side of the cliff and to the very bottom, it didn’t take them long to reach it as they followed the sound of moving water. When they finally came to a stop to rest, they were close by a stream of running water. Something that thought to have no longer existed on the planet like the plants that once covered the surface.

The storm started to let up a bit as the twins had jumps off their boards and started to walk. Kouji leading the way as he looks closely at the map, then looks up as the dust begins to clear, and in front of the twins looks like the remains of an old fashion church that’s barely holding on.

Kaiya perks up as she smiles. Oh wow! The ruins really are here.

According to our records, this is called a church. Its where those in religion gathered together to give worship and praise. This place is very old yet still able to stand, barely though. We better be…Kaiya! Kouji spoke out.

Kaiya runs toward the building as she doesn’t listen to her brother, who starts to run after her.

Kaiya slow down! This place is unstable! Kouji yelled out.

Well we better hurry and check it out, if that living organism is still here we need to find it before its buried in here. Kaiya yelled back.

The ruins were half standing, it seemed to be against the base of a cliff. The stairs starting at the bottom and leading up into the wall, it was built there for safety from the weather and attackers. Though, through the years and drastic change that had happened to cause the world to be as it is now. The building was more destroyed yet still standing, half way up the stairs and the entrance to the church was skeletal remains. Most were humans that were adults though right through the entrance of the church was the skeletal remains of a dog, right past it was one of a woman and a child. Kaiya looks a little nervous seeing the skeletons as she shivers a bit. Kouji following behind her as he has a hand on his headset and is snapping pictures of everything he sees.

Wonder how long these remains have been here. You’d think they’d wither to dust already. Kouji said.

Maybe this place isn’t as old as we think. Kaiya replied.

Its an old fashioned church Kaiya. They don’t build them like this anymore for years. Kouji answered back.

Kaiya walks carefully down the aisle, her footsteps creaking against the floor with each step. Then one certain step she makes ends up having a very loud creaking sound, that makes the twins freeze in place. Kouji looking to his sister carefully.

Kaiya laughs nervously not moving, Weak floor.

A figure started to move slightly, in the light it was dark and translucent in the shadows it was white. It moved towards the twins, as it moved it seemed like the whole area was changing before the twins eyes. Being rebuilt slowly was the floor looking anew and being made of Marble, along with the walls slowly repiecing together. Outside of the church the desert waste land started to turn green and lush, trees started to appear, along with bushes and grass. Out where the giant hole in the ground lead hundreds of feet down below the surface. There was a large stream, running along the surface and into the opening heading down below into the cavern. It wasn’t long after the changes finished being a fully rebuilt church like it once was, came the sounds of people talking. At first they sounded far and distant, like everything else, they started to become real and close by. Not far from where the twins stood was a partly open door with a light coming from it along with the voices.

The twins stood still in shock to what their were seeing, both stunned for a bit. Kaiya the first to move slightly as she turns toward the door and walks slowly towards it.

Kaiya! What are you doing? This place is…supposed to be old. We’re probably just hallucinating. Kouji says unsure as he looks to his sister worried.

I don’t know bro, everything seems real enough to me. Kaiya replied.

Being raised in the floating cities in the Temple of the Elements, this new structure being interesting to Kouji as he tries to see if he can take a picture. Though all of the pictures came out looking simply like the ruins, though in one of the pictures was a streak mark. Though to the twins eyes it was a dog, it looked like one of the Egyptian style dogs all the way down to the paint markings and neck wear. The dog soon came to a stop standing before Kaiya and Kouji as he gave a sound like he was clearing his throat, to get the attention of the twins. It wasn’t to long after that the dog turned and started to walk away, as if leading the way for the twins to follow.

Further down there was another door open though on the opposite side, though before reaching it a woman walked out carrying a screaming baby girl. The woman seemed like she didn’t even see the twins before she simply walked through Kaiya, it wasn’t long after that the woman and the baby disappeared from sight though the baby’s cries could still be heard before they started to fade away. When the cries faded another woman walked out, this one was carrying a baby boy who seemed to be quiet. The woman was just like the first one, not noticing the twins before walking through Kouji. Though when she walked through him, the baby boy had seemed to move being over the woman’s shoulder looking back a the twins. The baby had ice blue eyes with midnight black hair, it looked like he was smiling as he held an extended arm and hand out to the twins. Then the two simply disappeared from sight, passing the cracked door was the sounds of a man saying the woman had died after giving birth and there was nothing else he could do. Though the dog simply ignored all of this as it continued on heading towards a large open room, on the hallway they wall on the right were large windows to look out of. It was quite ease for the twins to now see outside and how it had change outside as well, the sun was shining bright the white clouds moved drifting slowly through the blue sky. The sounds of bird chirping and chattering could be heard by the window, once the dog entered the large room it came to a stop as turned looking towards the twins as it sat down. The twins look shocked to everything they’ve seen. Freaking out at first as the people just walk right through them like nothing.

Ah sis! We’re ghosts! We must of died in the ruins without knowing and now we’re dead! Oh what’s mother going think?

Shut up bro! Kaiya yells at her brother hitting his shoulder as he winces.

She then looks toward the direction she saw the little boy and can’t help but feel mesmerized at how blue the babies eyes looked and it almost looked like he was really looking right at them.

We’re not dead, She says as she starts to walk after the dog, her brother following behind rubbing his head.

They both then look outside the window as their eyes grow large in surprise. We’re seeing something, like a past memory.

Is that….the Earth? We’ve only seen the old Earth in books, but this almost looks like its real. Was the Earth really this green.

Yes it was. Now what are you both doing here? The dog said as it stood there, looking up at the two.

Both twins blink a couple of times, staring now at the dog as they just remain quiet for a second.

    Ummm sis… Kouji said.

    Y-Yeah? Kaiya replied.

Did that dog just talk? Kouji asked.

Kaiya doesn’t answer as she just continues to stare uncertain if they both just heard it speak or just their imagination as Kaiya gains up the courage to find out by gulping first then says, W-we…came to look for something.

What might it be? We have had many things come and go through here. Though how did you find out about this place, who sent you? The dog asked as it gave out an eerie growl, it continued to watch the twins having some space between him and them.

Kouji hides behind his sister, holding her by her shoulders as he looks worried and afraid of the dog.

Sis, your talking to a dog. And its talking back. Kouji said in whimpers.

Shut up bro. She whispers harshly as she looks to the dog and waves her hands up in surrender trying to smile, although she does agree this is weird. No one sent us, a couple of researchers from the Sanctuary a little ways from here told us of ruins being nearby and we found the evidence of something alive being here. We just came to investigate and find out what it is, that’s all.

The only thing living here is the souls, they are damned to repeat the last day of their lives over and over. But there is something specific that you are looking for, I can try to help but I’m not allowed to tell you much info. As for who sent you, might it have been Armen? The dog spoke giving a big eerie grin (for most it would be like the Cheshire cat), the dog waited quietly as the smile slowly faded from his face.

Kaiya looks surprised to how much the dog knows, also growing a bit suspicious to how much it knows. Kouji thinking the same as he leans in and whispers in her ear. This thing is smart sis. Its not going buy what we say like the General does most of the time.

Yeah, your right. Kaiya replies back then stands up straight with a serious face saying. Armen gave us the information of the ruins being here. We weren’t too interested until we did a scan and saw there was a faint sign of life somewhere here. Not of an animal or creature, but plant life. We’re looking for a very rare and special seed.

The dog watched them as it’s ears moved slightly, Ah. You are seeking the Star Seed, it was here at one point. But it is no longer here within the church’s ruins, what is two children like yourselves searching for the Star Seed? The dog said as it stood back up, watching them even closer before it started to circle them.

They both look interested and perk up as the dog says ‘Star Seed.’ The dog being right as it was this ‘Star Seed’ that they were looking for and have been looking for a while. Disregarding the threats of the Government as they would sneak out of the cities above to explore the dead Earth below, both desperately seeking out what everyone thought of as a make-believe story and legend called the Star Seed. No one knowing what it is exactly but the name and what some call the very life force of the planet itself, said to grant any wish to the person who finds it, and to the twins, the Star Seed is their light of hope. Kaiya looks nervous as she and her brother watch the dog alert as they never take their eyes off of it as it circles them, both feeling like its trying to test them.

We were told it was just a story, you said it was here once. Is it really real?

The Star Seed is real, when the world suddenly changed only a year ago to the waste land it is now. I gave my life to protect the Star Seed, I like all the others in the church was killed. Though the Star Seed did manage to crawl away to safety, since it’s no longer here I don’t know where it is. The dog replied as he came to a stop standing where he once was, the whole place about them changed as if it melted away returning to how it was; ruins. The dog’s appearance changed as well, as it no longer looked like a dog but as a mere ghost that was see through. The world became as it is only a year ago young one, the ones who survived the massive blast from the sun decided to keep it silent. They started life a new and spoke only of the new world and ways, what you saw was a mixture of your elements combined on a wave length that the spirits that rest here. It gave you insight to how my home once looked, now I roam about the church to only merely look at their skeletal remains. Their souls live on in a continues loop, they do not know what is happening as life continues on even after their death. But As I said the Star Seed is no longer here, I wouldn’t know where it is. If you see Armen again tell him I send my regards. Now I would prefer you left this place, the ghost spoke out as it watched them both with anticipation.

They look more confused as the ghost told them about Armen. Kouji lightly nudging his sister that they should go, but Kaiya not convinced with questions still has she starts to walk forward toward the ghost.
