Father-son authors Dan and Derek Nicksich offer intimate and refreshing worship encounters with God revealed in Holy Scripture through eclectic spiritual writings. This compilation of poems and hymns contains rich language harkening Christians back to a former era of faithfulness and devotion. The meditations penned are pithy and packed with present truth spurring believers on to faithfulness and fruitfulness in the future. The psalmist says, "Taste and see" that the Lord is good. Philip said to Nathanel, "Come and see" and meet the Savior, Jesus Christ. Your invitation is "Read." Come and see that the Lord, Jesus Christ, is good!

Come and See - Dan Nicksich

    Preface To Poems

Someone once wrote, I think that I shall never see a poem as lovely as a tree. Elsewhere it is noted that, The apple never falls far from the tree. In light of the latter, it’s not surprising that Derek has inherited a desire to write. Poetry, however, is another matter. I cannot say that I have ever pursued the writing of an inspiring poem or hymn. The proverbial apple may not fall far from the tree but said apple may be part of a widely, divergent harvest.

I pray you will find inspiration in Derek’s poems and hymns. While I may not have been moved (to this point) to express myself in these venues, I do enjoy reading and meditating upon them. I believe you will as well.

    Poems

Dear Christian, Look to the Rooster!

    Based on James 1:2–4

Some people are like an ostrich, you know the kind.

When the troubles of life come, you only see their hind.

When the trials of life come, they duck their head in the sand.

Their fear comes from a faith that is really quite bland.

You see, because of the fall,

Every Christian must now count it all.

    All is what we count,

and what all is, is that all of our trouble is an amount.

    Every trial, trouble, and pain,

Every test of faith, our joy must remain.

In fact, we must declare that joy is here to stay.

That, the Bible says, is the God-given way.

Like a prism in the sun, we shift trouble away.

We look at our trials, and our smile can remain all day.

    Now listen to the rest,

There is a lot to hear.

There is a purpose behind the test,

    Please allow me to steer.

    Test day is good,

and it is for your best.

If only every Christian stood and said,

God has a reason behind this test.

The intent behind the struggle and the pain,

Is for you to stand strong, and for your faith to remain.

We grow up in the midst of our most difficult days.

Our faith, when tested, is how the Lord, our God, weighs.

On the scales of life, trouble balances faith, with each new pound of test

Faith counters trial, and joy is where we rest.

We find joy in our rest, as we rest in the test.

We rest in the test, because the test is for our best.

It is best for us to see how God helps us to grow.

It is good for us to see why God will bring us low.

Only from the pain will the fruit of faith emerge.

A test produces results, where faith and steadfastness converge.

So stand tall, Rooster Christian, and strut with confidence on high,

Your test is for the best, and at the end of your life you can heave a restful sigh,

Look not to the Ostrich, and his fearful flight,

Stand tall, stand up, and face the trial, because God has a reason behind your plight.

So wipe your weary eye, and look up to the God above.

The exam is difficult for sure, but our eye is on the one who tests us because of His
