Description

Join us for Episode 5 in our seven-week series, Encountering Jesus Personally. In this week's episode, Lisa and Laura dive into the Gospel of John, focusing on the famous I AM statement, “I am the resurrection and the life.” Each time we find Jesus saying, “I am,” He is giving us a glimpse into what He’s like. He’s revealing something about His character. Are you grieving the death of a loved one? How about the death of a hope, dream, or relationship? Do you believe that Jesus has power over death and will bring all things back to life?  This conversation is one you do not want to miss. Join Lisa and Laura as they unpack today’s Scripture and apply it to our daily lives.

Open your Heart to our key Scripture.
John 11:25: I am the resurrection and the life.

Open your Bible to other Scriptures referenced in this episode.
John 11:25-26: I am the resurrection and the life, he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.
John 11:4-6: But when Jesus heard it he said, “This illness is not unto death; it is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by means of it.” Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So when he heard that he was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was.
John 11:14-15: “Lazarus is dead; and for your sake I am glad that I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.”
John 11:19: Many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them concerning their brother.
John 11:20-26: When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, while Mary sat in the house. Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. And even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.” Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.”
John 17:1-2: Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him power over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him.
Ephesians 2:1-5: And you he made alive, when you were dead through the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience. Among these we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, following the desires of body and mind, and so we were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).
2 Peter 3:8: But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
Revelation 21:4: He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more.
