    Dirty Construction - Sebastian Davidson

    Dirty Construction

    By Sebastian Davidson

Alex arrived at the construction site, eager to meet his new team and get started on his design plans. As he walked around the site, he couldn't help but notice a handsome man operating a large piece of machinery. The man was covered in sweat and dirt, but there was something about him that caught Alex's eye.

Excuse me, Alex approached the man. I'm Alex, the new designer. I was wondering if I could get your name?

The man looked up and Alex caught his first glimpse of bright blue eyes. I'm Ryan, he said with a friendly smile. Nice to meet you, Alex.

Alex couldn't help but feel drawn to Ryan's easy smile and friendly demeanor. Likewise, he replied. So, what exactly are you working on over here?

Ryan took a moment to explain the construction work he was doing and Alex was fascinated by his knowledge and dedication to his work. As they chatted, Alex noticed that Ryan's hands were rough and calloused from years of hard labor.

You must work out a lot, Alex joked, gesturing to Ryan's muscular arms.

Ryan chuckled. I guess you could say that. Construction work keeps you in shape.

Alex found himself wanting to know more about Ryan, to spend more time with him. Well, it was nice meeting you, Ryan. I'm sure we'll be working together a lot on this project.

Ryan nodded. Yeah, I look forward to it. Maybe we can grab a drink after work sometime?

Alex's heart skipped a beat at the invitation. Sure, that sounds great.

As Alex turned to walk away, he couldn't help but steal one last glance at Ryan. There was something about him that he couldn't quite put his finger on, but he knew he wanted to find out what it was.

Alex and Ryan sat across from each other at a small bar near the construction site. The dim lighting and low chatter of other customers created a cozy atmosphere. They sipped their beers and chatted about their interests outside of work.

So, do you have a girlfriend or anything? Alex asked, trying to keep his tone casual.

Ryan shifted in his seat and took a long sip of his beer. Nah, I don’t really have time for that kind of stuff. Plus, relationships never really seem to work out for me.

Alex raised an eyebrow, sensing there may be more to it than just a busy work schedule. What do you mean?

Ryan hesitated for a moment before answering. I mean, I’ve had girlfriends before, but I’ve never really been into it. I’ve always felt like something was missing.

Alex's heart fluttered in his chest as he listened to Ryan's words. He saw an opportunity to possibly explore these feelings, but didn't want to seem pushy. Have you ever thought about why that might be?

Ryan shifted in his seat again, avoiding eye contact with Alex. I don't know, man. Maybe I'm just not as into relationships as other people. Or maybe I haven't found the right person yet.

Alex bit his lip, wanting to push the conversation further but not wanting to make Ryan uncomfortable. I guess we all have our own journey when it comes to figuring out our sexuality. It's not always easy.

Ryan nodded, but stayed quiet for a few moments. Finally, he looked up at Alex with a serious expression. Can I ask you something personal?

Sure, anything, Alex replied, feeling a little nervous.

How did you know you were gay?

Alex smiled softly, relieved that Ryan had brought it up. Well, it wasn't necessarily one thing that made me realize it. I've kind of always known, but it took a while for me to fully accept it. But once I did, it was like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

Ryan nodded slowly, taking in Alex's words. I don't know if I've ever really thought about it that much. I just know I like women.

Alex took a deep breath, hoping he wouldn't regret what he was about to say. What if I told you it's okay to not be into women? What if I told you it's okay to be into men?

Ryan's eyes widened, shock evident on his face. What are you saying?

Alex took a leap of faith and decided to be honest. I'm saying that I'm attracted to you, Ryan.

Ryan's face turned red and he looked down at his beer. I don't know what to say, he mumbled.

It's okay, you don't have to say anything. I just wanted you to know how I feel, Alex reassured him.

The rest of the bar conversation was filled with nervous laughter and a bit of uncomfortable silence. But Alex felt relieved to finally put his cards on the table. He didn't know what the future held, but he knew one thing: Ryan's internal struggle was real and he couldn't ignore his feelings.

Alex was determined to move on from his attraction to Ryan. He downloaded a dating app and swiped left and right until he found a guy he was interested in. They agreed to meet up at a nearby coffee shop.

Alex arrived early and sat nervously, sipping on his latte and trying to think of what to say. When he saw the guy walk in, his heart leaped. He was tall, muscular, and had a bright smile.

Hey, you must be Alex, the guy said, extending a hand.

Yep, that's me, Alex said, shaking his hand.

They sat down and talked about their interests, their jobs, and their histories. Alex found himself laughing at the guy's jokes and feeling comfortable with him. But he couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt for not wanting to be there.

As the date progressed, Alex realized
