So Long, Stress! The Biblical Path To Walking In Continual Peace - Emily Josephine

    Introduction

This book contains none of the usual stress-reduction advice. The reason is that, as I explain later, the usual advice serves only as a bandage, rather than a cure. It doesn’t address the root cause of stress.

In order to understand that root, you need some foundational knowledge, so to get the most out of this book, you need to read it straight through, from the beginning to the end. It’s a quick read, so I don’t think I’m asking much.

You’ll notice that when I name the Savior of the world, I call Him Yeshua rather than Jesus. The reason? That was the name His parents gave Him. The name His family members, friends, and disciples called Him. Jesus is simply the English translation for His given Aramaic name (sometimes spelled Yashua). You may call Him whatever you like. I just wanted to give you a heads-up to prevent any confusion.

A couple of bits of housekeeping. First, I do not guarantee any results. While I believe the technique I share will work for most everyone, I’m not God. I can’t know your personal situation, any spiritual issues you have, and so on. All you can do is try.

Second, you are free to copy this material, even in its entirety. You can share it at Bible studies, post it on your blog, and so on. In the ideal world, you will credit me as the author, even link it to where it can be downloaded at an online bookstore. Or, name my YouTube channel, Author Emily Josephine (https://youtube.com/@authoremilyjosephine).

However, I can’t control that. Should a reader decide to plagiarize this work, that will be between them and God. As this is a book about how to reduce stress, I don’t recommend theft, as it does nothing to lighten a person’s emotional and psychological load.

All the icky but necessary stuff out of the way, let’s get going on helping you to learn to float through life with ease.

    Chapter One: Why We Die.

Most Christians, if asked how death came into the world, will answer that Adam and Eve disobeyed God. In the book of Romans, Paul verified that when he wrote that because of Adam’s disobedience, people fell into sin. With sin, came death.

But most people don’t think any further than that. They don’t consider the root of sin, and how it leads to death. In addition, they tend to think of the whole thing in terms of spiritual death, rather than physical.

Let me back up a minute, then I’ll delve into how the first act of disobedience transformed human nature. I will also show how death in the verse the wages of sin is death [Romans 6:23] doesn’t only refer to a human spirit that is dead to God due to unbelief, but also death in the physical sense. Actually, when I looked up the meaning of the original Greek word for death" in that passage, as far as I could tell it meant physical death.

God’s ideal plan was for humans to live forever, that their earthly bodies would never age, die and decay. However, when Adam and Eve ate from the one tree which God had told them not to eat from, the Tree of the Knowledge of Good And Evil, their eyes were opened to see evil. Up until then, their souls had only known goodness. They lived in perfect harmony with the animals and with each other. The pre-incarnate Christ would walk with them in the garden in the evening, and all was calm. There was no stress. There was no conflict.

But when they ate the forbidden fruit, for the first time they realized that there was a dark side to their world. They lost their innocence, and became instantly corrupt.

God knew it would be cruel to allow them to live in that state forever, and so He changed His plan. He ordained it so that they – and every human being who came after – would eventually receive deliverance from this corrupt nature by dying.

Thus, the main reason our earthly bodies die is that God is merciful.

But there’s a secondary reason that people die that stems from Adam and Eve’s disobedient act, and that is directly tied to the corrupt nature that came upon them after eating the forbidden fruit. That nature?

    Self-centered.

When the first humans ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, they became like God, knowing the difference between good and evil. So they no longer believed that they needed God. In one fell swoop, they lost their complete and utter trust and faith in their Creator. They went from being God-centered to self-centered.

However, God didn’t design humans to be responsible for their own lives. He designed us to walk in harmony with Him, receiving wisdom and knowledge from Him (see Proverbs 1), in order to live calm, peaceful, joyful, productive, and fulfilling lives. And when we attempt to live
