INTRODUCTION

Since God opened my eyes to the adventure of knowing and enjoying Him in 1983, there have been many Bible teachers who have blessed my life. Early on there was Milton Green, John Wimber, Kay Arthur, Derek Prince, and a dear sweet lady named Lou Murphey. After we moved to Dallas in 1987, we were blessed to sit under the teaching of our pastors Terry Moore and Joe Martin for 9 years. But literally from the time I surrendered to Jesus till today, nobody’s teaching has touched my life more than my Euless Texas friend Dudley Hall. Dudley is a wonderful, down to earth Bible teacher and author. He is a teacher’s teacher and a dynamic Christian leader. We have been to many of Dudley’s retreats and have listened to literally hundreds of his Bible studies. My boys and I have been to father-son weekends at his ranch and have shared many stories around his campfire. I have used Dudley’s books and other material as resources for countless men’s Bible studies over the years, most recently his series on the 5 Pillars of New Testament Discipleship. During our six month study of 5 Pillars, we ran down many rabbit trails and found ourselves deeper into the parable of the prodigal son than I have ever gone before.

When we finished, I decided to write this short book on what has become one of my favorite topics, Enjoying God. My prayer is that you will hear your Heavenly Father speak to your heart, maybe for the very first time, You are my beloved son/daughter in whom I am well pleased. Come, let’s enjoy life together.

CHAPTER 1

THE SUPERNATURAL

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth… God said, Let there be light; and there was light.

Genesis 1:1, 3

The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.

Psalm 19:1

God, the creator of the universe, is really big. And I want you to ponder for a moment how magnificent and powerful and supernatural He is. Now, that may seem obvious to you, but I had been a believer for over 25 years before this really hit me. So, I want you to think about this. If you google the rotation of the earth here is what you will discover. Fact number one, the earth is turning on its axis, spinning around at a speed of about 1,000 MPH. Fact number two, at the same time it is spinning, this ball of dirt we live on is speeding on a path around the sun at about 67,000 MPH. Third, the earth is located in the Milky Way galaxy, along with other planets and the sun, and at the same time the earth is spinning and circling, everything in our Galaxy, including earth, is rotating around the center of the galaxy at a speed of about 500,000 MPH. Are you getting dizzy yet? Fourth, our galaxy, and a group of other galaxies around us, are all traveling through space, to nobody knows where, at a speed of about 1.3 million miles per hour. And guess what? I sat on my patio this morning, watched the sun rise in the sky, heard the birds sing, rocked in my favorite chair and drank a hot cup of coffee. All right smart guy, figure
