    INTRODUCTION

    This book contains instructions for all cases of emergency situations, from pickpocketing to nuclear explosion. All these tips have been collected and adapted to the war in Ukraine. Many of them overlap. War creates emergencies every day. First, artillery or rocket fire, then fires. Then looting begins. Missiles and shells can hit dams, which causes flooding. How to deal with fear and panic

    Fear is an absolutely normal reaction, it is natural to be afraid

    The first wave is followed by fear, anxiety, confusion, panic, hysteria, stupor, and tense anticipation of a catastrophe that may occur.

    Usually, on the 3-5th day, the wave of fear subsides, and in its place comes irritation, anger, rage - strong vivid emotions that give us energy to fight, to act actively, breaking through everything in our path with the power of righteous anger.

    At the same time, we need to be especially careful to channel this power in the right direction and not to take it out on our loved ones.

    But the most difficult stage comes after the wave of anger, around the 8th-10th day - a wave of disappointment, despondency and giving up.

    No matter what happens, no matter what thoughts are in your head, no matter how ridiculous it may seem - at this stage, do not stop and do not give up on yourself or your loved ones! Keep acting, even if it's automatically, but know that this stage will pass, and you will become much more stable after it.

    Focus on what you can control. At a time when our plans are falling apart and we can't plan anything, it's important to stay with something stable.

    Follow the news, but without obsessive checking. It is important to understand the situation in the country to know how to behave and what to expect. But try not to check the news every minute - this will increase panic and fear for yourself and your loved ones.

    Eat regular and healthy meals. You should take care of a supply of nutritious long-term storage food. Proper nutrition has a positive effect on your mental health, because the way our brain works depends on the food we eat.

    Try to keep to your sleep schedule. It can be difficult to fall asleep in the worrying times of war and constant threats. But do not forget about such a seemingly trivial but important procedure as sleep.

    Physical activity. Even if you are hiding in a shelter, you can walk around the perimeter or in one place, and do minimal exercise. This will help you cope with stress, anxiety, and panic, as endorphin is released during physical activity.

    Stay in touch with your loved ones. If you feel lonely, don't hesitate to call your neighbors and get together.

    Help those in need. For example, you can volunteer and do good deeds.

    How to prepare your home and what to do in case of emergency

    The first thing to do is to agree with your family members on what your strategy will be in the event of an emergency.

    The strategies can be as follows:

    stay in the city;

    go to the countryside (to a summer cottage, etc.)

    to go to relatives or friends in another region, having made arrangements in advance;

    move to another region without knowing anyone there.

    The strategy depends on the following factors:

    The level of danger in your region (both military and man-made);

    the possibility of leaving your job (for example, if you work at critical infrastructure facilities);

    the presence of family members who are not transportable or have limited mobility;

    availability of transportation and housing outside the city;

    availability of relatives or friends who are willing to take you in;

    your strategy will determine the order of actions and the contents of the emergency kit.

    So, you need to think through a plan and agree with all family members:

    What you plan to do and where you are going;

    what you need to buy, prepare, and pack;

    where, when and how you are going to gather (choose a primary and secondary gathering place);

    What kind of transportation and route you will take;

    how you will keep in touch in case of a cell phone outage;

    Who is in charge of the group, who makes the final decisions;

    What is your plan B if the main plan fails.

    If you decide to stay put, you need to think ahead:

    what supplies you need to make;

    where you will hide in case of shelling if you are at home or at work (find the nearest shelters, check the condition of basements);

    how to prepare for the possible absence of gas and electricity;

    where you will get drinking and industrial water;

    how to prepare for a possible sewage system failure;

    how to prepare for a possible fire and
