Describe your residence and its occupants as it relates to protective or defensive decision-making.
I live in a townhouse with three other women, two of the women who are older than me and one who is younger. Our home is in a suburban neighborhood that is filled with families that have two or more children. Three of our bedrooms are on the second floor, and one of them is in the basement. Law enforcement response time is about 20 to 30 minutes.
How does your home/neighborhood environment affect your choice of home-defense/bedside firearm and defense items?
My neighborhood is right down the block from the busiest street in my city and five minutes away from a mall where a gang-related shooting occurred; a shooting which I myself was stuck in and had to hide in a storage room for over an hour. This area is no stranger to crime.

The neighborhood, homes, and city that I live in are very small so I want an optic that will allow for closer shots when practicing defense.
