Lesson 1: Devout
The power of prayer can accomplish what the power of God can accomplish. Prayer can address every issue we are facing, because nothing is too difficult or impossible for God to handle. There is no greater privilege for anyone than talking with and speaking into the ears of the Almighty God. We shouldn't be surprised, then, to discover that the greatest and most spiritually successful people in the Bible always prayed. In faith, Abraham walked, but he was guided by prayer. As a result of Isaac's intercession on behalf of his barren wife, Jacob is born. David wrote the longest book of the bible by talking to God morning, noon, and night. Moses spoke with God as his friend. Although we can go on and on about prayer, Jesus was the greatest model.

When Jesus rose up from water baptism the heavens opened and the Holy Spirit descended " while he was praying (Luke 3:21-22) Before choosing his disciple he spent all night in prayer before making a decision, his habit was to rise early and pray before the sun rose (Mark 1:35)
After ministering to the people, he would "often times slip away to the wilderness (quiet place) and pray (Luke 5:15-16)
His first sermon he explains the fundamentals of how to pray (Matt. 5-7)
He taught and challenged this words watch and pray
(Mark 14:38)
He taught to pray instead of giving up (Luke 18:11)
When anger in the temple he declared My house shall be called a house of prayer
(Matt 21:13)
He gave the greatest model of prayer Our Father
(Matt 6:9-13)
