About this ebook

Are you a reader in search of a real-life story tale, but in poetry form? Well look no further. Poetry has come a long way from the "Roses are Red and Violets are Blue" expression. Each word stems from experiences and muses of one's mind.

You will find poetry on many life topics from letters A-Z such as Affirmations, Anxiety, Anger, Blame, Bullying, Children, Choices, Death, Depression, Faith, Fear, Greed, Grief, Hatred, Husbands, Lessons, Loneliness, Loss, Love, Money, Narcissism, Pets, Pride, Relationships, Self-Love, Sickness, Suicide, Trust, Wisdom, Wives, Worry, You, and Zero Tolerance. Some poems are short then others are longer, but all are written from a place of peace, serenity, and solitude.

As a suicide survivor and mental health advocate I can relate to life's darkness and feeling like giving up. Writing is my coping mechanism and sharing to help others is what I am assigned by God to do.

As you journey in turning each page, I hope the words written will come alive, place you in the scene, and you experience what I did when writing. May you be helped in understanding you are not alone, and life is what you make of it no matter what challenges you face you have the power to get through and overcome all. YOU GOT THIS!!!

GET READY TO SMILE, LEARN, AND CRY; DO NOT FORGET TO DRY YOUR EYES!!!

Love of Life in the Light of Poetry - Bonita E. Patton-Loggins

    Abuse

    Abuse is not only physical

Many people especially women endure abuse.

Attempting to hold it altogether feeling of no use.

Afraid to look in the mirror to see one’s true beauty.

Years of abuse by harsh words to feel it is one’s duty.

Blows from another’s mouth to bring others shame.

Fearful to speak, one takes it in to eternalize blame.

Nothing one says or does is ever good enough.

Masking to fake happiness, appearing as tough.

Sleeping alone, crying oneself to sleep at night.

Praying to God to fix the other to end the fight.

Trapped like a little girl in a deserted field unknown.

No one or nothing in view to help, not even a phone.

Haunted by degrading words to crush one’s soul.

As a trainer breaking a horse’s spirit to gain control.

Around family and friends, one appears with glee.

Smiling and laughing for nobody to know or see.

Deep pain felt from enduring cuss and negative words.

Wishing for freedom to feel a cool breeze and fly like birds.

People we know are suffering from mind manipulation by unspeakable words to lessen, but in hiding. No noticeable marks, simply pretending to be okay. Many have difficulty loving and valuing themselves due to this. We as women must find a way to break free from abuse of any kind. No one takes it seriously until it results in physical harm or death. Today love yourself by not continuing to allow those who suffer with past hurt and pain to target the blameless instead of admitting they need help and getting it to heal. Abuse is not love and it is not only physical but mental also.

The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence.

    Psalm 11:5 ESV

What is an Abuser and What do they do?

Abuse is to treat a person or an animal with cruelty or violence, regularly or repeatedly. Also, the improper use of something or to use something to affect or for a harmful purpose.

An Abuser abuses things which are in their power to control, to see fear is how they prey. To prey is to take advantage of; exploit or injure, cause constant trouble and distress in any way.

Victims who fall into the hands of those they choose to love, do not think they will harm. Regardless of gender it is not right, nor does it feel good to give your all to the one with charm.

Love at first sight is what most experience, seeking or not, on the rebound or ones first love. A first glance and date, intent is to learn, manipulate, and capture the mind, to daze in the clouds above.

As one who is planning to do harm, they watch before they attack, every move thought out. Watching from afar in person, via social media, or text, waiting patiently to pursue a route.

Movies we see are not false, but real-life matters depicted to warn, show, and save all. Do not take abuse lightly, but heed to signs shown by an abuser, despite how big or small.

Women more than men are victims of abuse; it does not always come by way of a push or fist. Bruises displayed on the face or body noticed but sometimes hidden, therefore abuse missed.

There are several types of abuse: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and financial to list. Control is what the abuser seeks, many signs shown prior but often dismissed.

A heart seeks love of one person, who may or may not be able to reciprocate fully. This applies also to those who choose to intimidate those who are weak, such as a bully.

Bullies come in many sizes and inside they suffer with unhealed insecurities from their past. If you do not believe me look up a story on a bully, research how all came to be when asked.

A relationship between those who are friends, not lovers are present and real to see and know. In the movie Everybody hates Chris the young man and his friends pick on Chris which is low.

A bully is an abuser who desires to have things go their way, when it does not, to become mad. They confront, steal, fight, and even kill to show themselves as big and in control, indeed sad.

Nothing better to do with their time but to make others feel less than, instead of apart. Afraid of the outcome, so one does not share but keep inside to avoid pain as with a dart.

A parent or person who abuses children there is a verse for you and it is specific to what you do. Abused children are innocent, despite what they do, and are not deserving of all they go through.

A marriage which includes an abuser is in danger, if not dealt with and healed from the start. A woman showing no outward signs of abuse, silent but carries all hurt from abuse in heart.

She sits quietly as her partner controls everything around her, even her moves and thoughts. No words she speaks for her safety with others around, embarrassed she feels but does not talk.

Pretending she is okay, but inside wanting to run as quick and far as she can to get away. Fear is a factor, which her partner has spoken to her by threats and hypnotized her to stay.

To sit in the body of a victim of abuse is horrifying, it feels like you are on fire but cannot move. Family may or may not know, it is up to her to take a stand in deciding to remain or her situation to improve.

Physical abuse involves pushing, slapping, punching, choking, grabbing of hair, or beating. These can start out mild but then turn constant, fierce, and deadly with each unsettled greeting.

An abuser has made up scenarios in their mind with no basis in fact, but they constantly accuse. There could be no reason at all for accusations, but mentally a picture they see to excuse.

It could be nothing going on, a co-worker leaves at the same time at the end of a workday. Each victim anticipating the days tasks ending, one seen talking to others saying hey.

What the abuser perceives or views in their mind is an affair, innocent it is in every way. Jealousy at its best, due to the abuser feeling they own you and to them this behavior is okay.

Driving down the road in the passenger’s seat, just looking around, the abuser accuses you. Someone driving on the road pulls up beside the car, the abuser becomes aggressive too.

Shouts towards the victim from the abuser, why are you looking at them, all is a wonder. In mind the victim is thinking, I do not know them, not even the abuser, but their tone is as forceful and striking like thunder.

Mental abuse is different, an abuser tries to control the victim by negative words portrayed. Emotional abuse plays a part as well, the abuser talks to and puts down to make the victim afraid.

This could be cuss words targeting one, or an aggressive tone which shakes one to the core. The victim wants to scream or speak back but does not for fear of more abuse or attacks they will have to endure.

An abuser desires to be the center of attention as a narcissist, if not they become enraged. Abusers find reasons to make the victim feel less than or bad about themselves encaged.

Things could become so bad to the point of a victim wanting to check out by death or by suicide. Feelings overwhelming and no way out, what does one do to break free and move aside?

Many have lost their lives because their hearts intertwined with someone who is insecure. Having no idea what caused all to happen or to target one, nothing positive to assure.

Lives lost due to the tactics and abuse of those filled with evilness, hatred, jealousy, and fear. Abused people desire to seek help and have by the law but nothing done though all is severe.

How can an abuse victim escape an abuser, some are afraid therefore wavering in their charge? Dark eyes, busted lips, broken or misplaced bones, or bruised ribs not small injuries but large.

I do not wish to see another abused victim’s life ended by an abuser or one’s own hand. No one has the right to end others or their own life, God is the only one who should decide whose life will end on earth’s land.

Remember we are judged when we choose to carry our sufferings into our future and inflict them on others. We are indeed in the enemy’s territory regardless of parent, friend, spouse, or lovers.

To all abused keep praying and seeking help until your change comes, you deserve to be alive. To all abusers seek medical help to overcome all hurts and insecurities towards healing to thrive.

There are things in our lives we are not proud of. Shameful things we either have or do not have control over, but we have the power to overcome all if we would pray, seek, and apply. There is no longer an eye for an eye instruction but turn the other cheek therefore what someone has done to you, we are all commanded to not do the same to them. Causing conflict and pain to another unrightfully, simply due to what others inflicted upon you is not a reason to continue the same patterns or ways. To be healthy requires seeking help for our struggles and weaknesses which cause our life to be difficult. Today stop abusing and seek help for the abuse you endured in past or even current. Abusers indeed knows no boundaries.

But now you also, put them all aside, anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth.

    Colossians 3:8 NASB

What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be.

    Romans 6:15 NASB

    Angels

    Angels Unaware

Angels, envisioned as bright human form, adorned in a white, long sleeve, length gown. Assistants to our Creator in Heaven, beautiful they are, spreading light and cheer all around.

No specific gender, always available by call dispatched by God when trouble heard or seen. Quick to respond, despite distance, to bless, heal, and comfort all in need is their daily routine.

Mysteriously appearing as assigned, standing to hold one’s hand when one or a relative is ill. Accidents occurring to leave one or many harmed or deceased, angels arrive quietly to fulfill.

Sitting in frustration, with one’s hands covering one’s face, and mind not at peace, they appear. Invisible or plain sight unaware, as a relative, friend, or stranger to bring relief or dry one’s tear.

While alone or among many they are close by, watching and waiting, aware of what is to come. Out of nowhere all becomes chaotic, tension seen and felt, angels rush in to see to one or some.

Pain is constant, no relief in sight, suddenly a touch felt to calm it, someone is standing near. Peace falls to soothe what was once deep and uncertain, awaken from sleep to not feel fear.

God uses humans from all over the world to be his helpers, though He needs none, He decides. Angels can come dressed up fancy, casual, or homeless to smell unpleasant to take by surprise.

Many stories shared of people showing up without notice to render aid then disappear. Appearing as a dream, in the clouds and unrealistic to feel, in wonder to observe all clear.

Can you recall a time or instance when you experienced the unknown? Job loss, eviction notice posted, and nothing spoken about, a miracle someone paid by phone.

An empty refrigerator and bare cabinets, children to feed, to look outside the door to see food. Exhausted from employment interviews, an offer letter arrives with attached check for you.

More bills than funds, bank account lacks fifty dollars total, call to arrange and they waive it. Something unfavored seen on a prior

x-ray, retested, and nothing seen so not admitted.

Driving home, an impact at a rapid speed, jaws of life it takes to release, one not harmed. At the store picking up items, to notice one’s key is gone, a spare delivered with set alarm.

These are examples of how God uses His angels unaware, seen and unseen to bless us all. Things may not come at the time, or way one would like but all arrives timely big or small.

How our mind’s view angels are not how God sends them. Many times, we are approached by them unknowing of who they are or why they are here. Sometimes we send them away due to distractions, preoccupied, or feel we do not need them. Only when we look back, after an occurrence has taken place do we or others realize what halted one from being in harm’s way or could have halted all from harm. We must pay attention to signs and people because they could well be angels.

Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unaware.

    Hebrews 13:2 KJV

    God’s Unique Angel

I dreamed and thought of an angel this day. Not just any, but one with a smile to brighten any pathway.

Eyes which speak directly to one’s heart. A soul who won mine and others from the start.

A spirit so high, loving, and humble as a dove. To stand tall to speak abroad as Heaven sings her Praises from above.

Wisdom spews from her mouth, as she confidently speaks.

From life experiences faced and God she diligently seeks.

I asked God, how can this angel be. One so delicate and beautiful for all to see. He answered, "This Unique Angel I chose to be set apart as those of one who rose in hopes of one day to humbly share her life story. Through the fears, pain, and tears, shared amongst all for my honor, praise, and glory.

Gifts and Blessings God envisions and awards us with, far exceeds what our small minds can even imagine so let us seek God and trust Him to bring all forth and to pass. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the Heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. We are each chosen for God’s Purpose.

He chose to give us birth through the Word of Truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all He created.

    James 1:17-18 NIV

    Anger

    Are you Angry or Afraid?

Anger defined as a strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure, provoked, or hostility. One who is set off easily in rage, a tone of silence or loudness to harm is a possibility.

Afraid defined as feeling fear or anxiety, frightened, reluctant to do something assigned. One who sits instead of standing or runs away to allow others to go forth or stay behind.

Human emotions are difficult to pinpoint or determine for so many reasons beyond thought. One second, we are calm, then suddenly, our blood pressure spikes higher than normal sought.

The weather as we once knew is difficult to speak on, due to the clouds, many colors to choose. Daily the weather forecaster, broadcasts what it will be, comparing other climates and views.

What are the similarities between humans and seasons, is it changes and uncertainties? It well could be, what happens in one season or to someone is not definite to determine these.

Suppose a person has a final exam to study for, their attitude is not kind but unusual to many. Tempers raise and disagreements arise, this behavior seen as anger but is really anxiety.

No one can perfectly call each season in time, it states it will be rainy, but the sun shines bright. Not as it was in daylight-saving time, leaving work in light but now suddenly to become night.

To encounter humans who face a life sentence, acting out to destroy tangible things. When all said and done, to sit in jail, rocking with tears streaming and various mood swings.

Storms have always come since the beginning of time and will always be due to climate change. Disturbance on earth by man to drill oil or produce gas, changes occur, not God acting strange.

A football team playing to win, going against rules to clip another player, one is down and hurt. The referee flags a player, tension from a coach and player seen, is this anger or fear on alert?

Seasons are only predictable by human guess, so humans must prepare for what is to come. If it states it will be warm or cold, dress accordingly and allow time in travel to go or return from.

To become angered with the weather or even the person who predicts the weather is not smart. This is God’s call, not humans, but fear undercover comes due to plans interrupted to depart.

We must check our attitudes at the door and those around to endure must evaluate behavior. Understanding differences unaware can cause respectable outlooks therefore work in our favor.

Fear is dangerous and often perceived as unruly and temperamental, most often than not. Though anxiousness to seek needs or desires, let us be aware, to not be unkind, push, or plot.

Anger and fear go hand in hand, one leads to the other, due to being afraid of the unknown. Be careful and stop to think before acting or responding, anger could be fear openly shown.

Typically, the average human is unpredictable because each one called and created to be. Depending on circumstances, foreseen or unforeseen, and preparation time allowed to meet a life expectation we must perform or even a goal to meet, contributes a huge part in human response. When we know people’s character or simply understand human behaviors, only then will we see beyond the forest for the trees therefore are able to understand, comprehend, and show compassion towards those who feel like their backs are against the wall. Let us recognize anger masked in fear.

Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end.

    Proverbs 29:11 NIV
