DECLUTTER YOUR MIND - Harper Kain
INTRODUCTION
D
o you frequently feel as if you have so much going on in your life that keeping up with it all is stressful and exhausting? Are these occurrences limiting your productivity to the point where you can't carry out your otherwise normal routine? An investigation into the source of your problem will reveal that you have so much baggage in your mind and life that it overwhelms you. When this situation arises, you should declutter your mind. Get rid of the excess that is weighing you down and concentrate on what is important to you in life.
You can make this a reality in your life by decluttering. One of the most important aspects of living a minimalist lifestyle is decluttering your life.
At the moment, everyone wishes to live a minimalist lifestyle. It is a way of life that assists you in getting rid of all the unnecessary things in your life that cause stress.
As a minimalist, you dedicate your life to living on only what you need to live comfortably and keeping everything else out of your way.
You may take on too much in your life and not have enough time to keep up with it all. Having a lot of work to do was my way of feeling important. I used to believe that if I wanted to make an impact in life, I needed to have a lot of things going on at the same time. This way, I would ensure that I had no time to laze around and that I would be able to accomplish a lot, or so I reasoned.
I was juggling so many things in my life that I had no time for myself. It was difficult to keep up with everything, and after a while, I became a working robot. Everything I did was no longer personal to me; I was just doing it to get it done. This means I wasn't giving everything I had. I was not performing these tasks to the best of my ability; I was simply completing them. This was a disservice to me because I knew I was capable of doing better.
I didn't have time to perfect my skills because I took on too much. As a result, all of my work was only satisfactory and not well done. And over time, I became convinced that I was unfit for anything.
In my mind, there are two types of people: those who are perfect at everything they do and those who make mistakes. I put myself in the latter category due to the number of times my work was returned to me because it was unsatisfactory.
It was only after my encounter with minimalism that I realized my worth. My first goal was to clear out all of my belongings and declutter my life.
In this book, I'll walk you through the process of decluttering. You will understand the significance of decluttering in your life and how to do so in an enjoyable manner.
My decluttering journey taught me that you cannot declutter your entire life in a single day. It is a journey that will require time and patience.
The first thing I recommend is that you adjust your mindset to recognize that decluttering is beneficial to your health. When I first started decluttering, I thought the only way to do it was to dive in headfirst.
Was I ever wrong? I became emotionally attached to many of my possessions and daily routines. I began convincing myself that I needed them all, which hampered my decluttering efforts.
The procedure was then exhausting. Imagine going through all of the boxes and other items in my house in one day. By the end of the day, I was exhausted, and my mindset was that decluttering is a brutal and exhausting process that I will not repeat.
I became dissatisfied with it, and every time I read or thought about it, my mind would take me back to how tired I was the last time I tried it. That was when I was decluttering my belongings. It was twice as difficult when I stopped participating in extracurricular activities.
I couldn't bear the thought of losing them because they gave me meaning in my life. I was afraid that letting go would imply that I was no longer dependable. People would no longer be able to rely on me.
But I realized that decluttering is a process that requires patience and a positive attitude. You can't get started if your attitude isn't right.
I've tried decluttering with no patience and the wrong attitude, and I know how it hurts the entire cause. This is a physical as well as an emotional process. I recall telling myself not to go pick up something I'd already gotten rid of. Everything in our lives has an emotional resonance for us. It's understandable that letting go of these items becomes difficult.
This book will assist you in having a simple and enjoyable decluttering experience. All of the advice you'll get from it will give you the strength you need to keep going and ensure you leave with only what you need to live comfortably.
I literally felt lighter after I finished decluttering my life. Nothing was wearing me down anymore. I was free to concentrate on myself and improve my skills. My mind was always clear, and I could now think clearly and perform better.
It's a thrilling sensation. I can assure you of that. I was now working on what I wanted, and I discovered a lot about myself that had been buried beneath all the baggage I had in my life.
The main benefit of decluttering is that it will give you back your life. You are not living your life for yourself if you are entertaining a lot of unimportant things. You are living your life in order to accommodate them. And decluttering will assist you in changing that.
If you don't live your life on your own terms and discover your true potential, you're wasting your time. You must do this for yourself right now. Nobody will show you what you are capable of unless you go out and find it for yourself. And you won't get it if you have a lot of obstacles in your way of discovering yourself.
As you read on, keep an open mind and a desire to discover how this concept of decluttering will give you back your life. It is good that you have made this choice as a step to better your life. This book will be your guide, you will get useful tips and steps on how to declutter your life.
Chapter 1 - TO DECLUTTER YOUR DAY, KEEP A DAILY SCHEDULE
T
here is a false perception in life that we are taught from an early age. It is that you can only be successful if you devote every minute of your day to work.
I'm sure you've seen and heard from successful people
who become motivational speakers and boast about how full their calendar is. They are constantly complaining about how their schedule is so packed that they have little or no free time. Most of them will brag about their jam-packed schedules and how they have shaped who they are.
This is a misunderstanding. There is no need to overwork yourself to the point where you are unable to enjoy the fruits of your labor. You will be working in vain if you are unable to enjoy the success you have achieved.
Do not fall into the trap of feeling fulfilled only when you pick up three shifts at your workplace and work all day. Your sense of validation should not come from being busy all day. It should not be the reason you believe you are successful.
Society has been charged with respecting a man who works hard all day and night with little respite. Such men are admired, and no one questions their lack of dedication to the most important things in life, such as their families. Their success is lauded because everyone believes it was earned.
A successful man with a well-balanced schedule, on the other hand, is rarely respected. Their success is evident, but it is not celebrated in the same way that the man with a full schedule is. Because he is not working for many hours during the day, society will convince him that he is not living up to his full potential.
With this mindset, you will only be able to utilize your full potential if you work back-to-back with little rest in between tasks. But this is all incorrect. Your success will only be meaningful if you are in the right mental state to carry out all of these activities.
Overworking yourself will deprive you of the ability to personalize your work. You will be uninterested in your actions and will only work to complete the next item on your schedule.
Working like this, contrary to popular belief, will not allow you to reach your full potential. Because you don't have enough time to thoroughly consider the next task and devise the best work plan to complete it.
When you don't have enough time in your schedule to fit in another item, learn to say no. Do not feel obligated to take on extra tasks just to demonstrate your dependability. That is not how it works. Allow the tasks to easily fit into your overflowing schedule. Do not overburden yourself in order to please others at your expense.
It is acceptable to schedule downtime and leisure activities. Things that will relax you and put your mind at ease. This will ensure that you are mentally prepared to take on additional responsibilities later.
Starting your day will be easier if your schedule is not jam-packed with tasks to complete. When you have a crowded schedule, your mind will become tired even before you begin the first task. Because everything you have to do in a day is too much for you, and you have no idea
