Her Allure (A Contemporary Interracial Romance) - Tasha Hart

    Chapter One

    Angie

As I’m sitting here at one of the tables at Sistaz club, writing up invoices and filling out paperwork, I can’t help but think I almost regret telling Charlene I’d cover for her while she was on her honeymoon. Don’t get me wrong I’m thrilled she’s finally caught a break and found the love of her life, but I’m about ready to pull my hair out with all of the extra work. Sistaz is busy enough as it is, but when I’m picking up the slack for another person, it’s a whole other ballgame and I’m about to strike out.

I let out a heavy sigh and slide the paper I’m working on over to my finished pile, groaning softly under my breath when I catch a glimpse of the stack that still needs to be dealt with. Charlene better be having the time of her life, because if she comes back with anything to tell me other than what a good time she had, I’m going to have some words for her. I love the girl to death, don’t get me wrong, but holy hell this is a drag.

I get started on a new sheet, this time filling out customer counts and drink orders, and I’m about to delve deep into all the boring lists when I hear someone walk in, and I look up.

And am I ever glad that I did.

Walking into Sistaz and coming right toward me is a man who looks like he just walked out of a Disney princess’ dream. I have to bite my lip to stifle a sigh as he gets closer. He’s tall and strong with thick blonde hair, and blue eyes that make me want to gaze into them for hours. I don’t usually ogle men like this, but with how busy things have been, my dating pool has been a bit dry. And let me say—this man is a tall glass of water and I am thirsty.

He approaches the table and I offer him a sweet smile, gazing up at him with a cocked brow as I subtly look him up and down. Hey, if a man like this walks in, I’m going to look, okay?

He holds his hand out to me to shake and I take it, smirking when I notice how big they are. They almost completely encompass mine and I smile up at him.

Hey there, my name is Zane, He says with a grin, and leans against the table. I’m a representative for Duplin Liquors and I was hoping that you’d let me bend your ear for a few minutes.

Oh, I’ll let you bend more than my ear, honey.

You see, he continues. We’re looking for other venues to expand to, and I’d love to do a promotion for Duplin at the club.

I smile and cross my arms over my chest with a chuckle, brows raised as I drink him in yet again. Sistaz really doesn’t usually do promotions, in fact we don’t really do them at all, but I’m wondering if maybe it’s time we make an exception. Not only would it be potentially lucrative for the club, but if it means I get to hang out with Mr. Eye Candy in the process? Well hell, it would be hard to say no.

Still, I need to be cautious. Agreeing to promote a product and allow their branding into the club means we need to make sure to screen it properly, and that could take ages.

Hold on a second, that could take ages. Which means more time for me to spend checking out Zane and maybe find out what those big hands feel like in other scenarios.

I realize I’m sort of smirking at him and I clear my throat, trying to hide the blush in my cheeks and ignore the fact that I’ve got butterflies in my stomach like I haven’t felt since I was sixteen.

Well Zane, I coo at him with a flirty smile. "I’m Angie, nice to meet you. Welcome to Sistaz. As for doing a promotion, though, it isn’t usually something that we do. Having said that… Maybe I could be swayed."

I smile up at him and then slide from my stool to stand, arms crossed back over my chest as I think. On one hand I’d really like to get to know this guy, even if it just means working together. On the other hand, I have to be really careful about these sorts of things. Should I really decide based on the fact that this guy is gorgeous?

I want to, Lord do I ever. Not only is he attractive but he also has a certain charm that I can’t quite put my finger on, and I feel almost compelled to at least hear him out. After all, what would be the harm in letting him pitch? Worst case scenario it sounds terrible and I tell him no, best case scenario it works, and I drum up extra business for the club, right?

Now I just need to decide if the potential reward is worth the risk.

    Chapter Two

    Zane

I’m walking up to Sistaz, the club I want to promote my company in, while I run through all of the talking points and references in my mind. I was grateful to my friend Mike—their new DJ—for giving me the lead, because I really need to get the company name out there. It’s all fine and good to have a business that has great liquor, but when I’ve got nowhere to promote it then how the hell am I supposed to reach more customers and make more sales?

I was talking to Mike about this at the YMCA the last time we played basketball, and he told me that he might know of a place. Turns out, that place was Sistaz—his new gig. I wasn’t about to turn down a potential opportunity to branch out the company’s client base, so I thanked him and went on my way. Now, here I am, about to enter.

Mike really talked the place up when he told me about it and wouldn’t stop going on about how much the club has grown in such a short time. So, since I’m not one to shy away from a challenge or chance to better myself, I jumped at the opportunity when he presented it to me.

Except, now that I’m walking up to the place, I’m nervous. I don’t usually get
