    BASICS OF RAMADAN

Ramadan is a holy month of fasting and spiritual reflection observed by Muslims all over the world. It is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is believed to be the month in which the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. Muslims fast from dawn until dusk during this month and are encouraged to engage in acts of charity and devotion.

Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam and is obligatory for all adult Muslims who are physically able to do so. This means abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs from dawn until sunset. It is a time for self-discipline and self-reflection, where Muslims are encouraged to deepen their relationship with Allah (God) through prayer and reflection on their faith.

The fast is broken at sunset with a meal called iftar, which is typically shared with family and friends. It is a time of celebration and community, where Muslims come together to break their fast and share in the blessings of the month. Many Muslims also gather in mosques for evening prayers during Ramadan, known as Tarawih.
