    Introduction

If there are signs that tell you how close you are to succeeding - Will you give up?

Most people give up because they ignore the signs showing how near they are to succeed.

As you move from where you are to where you want to go, you are your life’s driver. Road signs help drivers avoid getting stuck on a dead-end street, keep up with the changes in road conditions, be informed about upcoming road changes and obstacles, and know when to enter a particular road and exit a specific roadway.

This book will call your attention to the signs that will help you stay put and move confidently towards your goal. If you have these signposts, your journey could get a little easier. Isn’t it?

Successful people live deliberately. This book will help to take control of your life, celebrate your wins, and improve in areas of your weakness.

The ideas in the book helped the author to transform his life from a suicidal seventeen-year-old to a successful real estate investor, serial entrepreneur, success coach, and keynote speaker.

It can transform your life too.

    Attention!

    Life-Changing

    Experience Ahead!

When you find yourself in risky situations that threaten your dream

    Chapter 1

You are grateful in all situations

Count your blessings, not your troubles.

    Hendrick de vries

You could almost hear him talk out loud all by himself. He had never seen Richard in that mood. This is a guy I envy so much. I had always thought he had life easy, he said.

The staff lounge has free access to all, yet Richard was not careful someone was listening to his private rants. It was closing time, and he was there alone.

Frank moved closer to keep him company. It took a tap from behind for Richard to realize someone else was there. On learning that he was not alone, Richard felt like a baby caught licking sugar that papa disapproved of. His defenses were down, and Frank thought he was open to talking about his issues, so he moved to sit on the stool standing right before him.

I’ll be 40 this month, and I was wondering what I have done with my life, Richard confessed.

Richard got promoted a few months ago before his wife opened her clothing line. He seems to have it all yet felt like someone who had a miserable life.

I don’t know what I am going to do with my life. I thought I had it all figured out. But here I am at 40, wondering what my life is all about and what I am going to do with it.

As Richard unbundled his thoughts, Frank made up his mind never to end up like his friend. He had always thought he would be happy when he had it all. Yet, right in front of him is someone he feels has it all, yet he feels miserable.

He tried his best to encourage his friend, but he could not stop wondering about his misery. How could Richard forget he got through the university with a fully paid scholarship? He was top of his class and an inspiration to many people. Richard had always talked about becoming a top investment banker, and here he is, a few steps to the very top, yet feeling unfulfilled and without a trace of excitement about his future.

Never intending to criticize his friend, he realized Richard was ungrateful. How could those excellent achievements not mean anything to him? He obviously could not see how the favors he enjoyed and opportunities that life brought his way brought him here. He felt lost. If you are ungrateful for the past, how can you appreciate the present? And if you do not enjoy the present, how can you be excited about the future? These were Frank’s thoughts, and even if he was not right about Richard, his logic is valid.

Richard was close to success, yet he didn’t know (feel) it. Have you met someone like him recently? They can’t seem to make sense of their journey because they lack a heart of gratitude. And if care is not taken, they end up living a life of misery that ends their journey abruptly or makes it unfulfilling—what a terrible way to live.

Gratitude is a state of the heart that shows one continuously acknowledges that his life is a build-up of past and cumulative blessings that have brought one to his present condition.

Life is a journey, and there will always be a thirst for more until you reach your final destination. Every level of success unlocks a higher level of desire for tremendous success; therefore, it is pretty easy to fall into the trap of anxiety or dissatisfaction that leads to ingratitude and, in turn, leads to depression.

However, as you continue to take stock of your life, remembering every favor you have received, how you surmounted every obstacle, how you tackled the challenges life has thrown at you, how you passed through the fires of life but didn’t get burnt, how you failed but chose to reject failure, how you fell but chose to rise again, you realize that your life is a bundle achievement and a journey in progress.

This realization is the very boost you need to keep pushing for more, knowing that you didn’t come this far only to give up on your life’s journey.

If men knew they were a work in progress, there’d be less giving up and fewer suicide attempts. Instead, there’d be much more gratitude, reflection, rest, strategic planning, hard work, innovative work, teamwork, and team
