About this ebook

The Power of God is a clarion call to the contemporary church to impact the generation with the supernatural power made available to all believers through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

God's power has often been misunderstood because we tend to think of God's power in terms of physical strength, omniscient knowledge, or as wealth of resources at his disposal.

God's power is centred on his will and his glory. We just need to know where to look and allow him to work through us. Shalom, a young writer, explores the significance of the power of God and how to tap into it. She penned down such profound truth in such a simple way.

This book is a must-read for those who want to be passionate about their walk with the Lord, empowered in their lives and effective in being powerful witnesses for the Lord in these last days.

    PREFACE

The power of God – it is a topic so broad that mere human vocabulary cannot describe it. But I wrote this book not to explain his power nor to give you a broad context of what it looks like but to remind you, dear reader, that the Spirit of God is much more alive and present than you think it is and that it took divine strategy for your birth naturally and supernaturally to occur. The same Holy Spirit of God that raised Jesus Christ from the dead is the same one that lives inside you.

I wrote this book to awaken the believers of Christ, and I’ll give two messages later in the book that are directed to the believers of this day – a reminder for those truly living in the world. With chaos, calamity, disasters, loss, tribulation, persecution, burdens, death, and emptiness, you have been given the opportunity to be free and whole – an opportunity to live in freedom from sin and captivity and from bondage and pain in the supernatural realm to unwrap yourself from the law of sin and captivity and be free.

At the end of the day, it does not matter whether you are religious; we both feel fear and go through the journey of life. We live in the same world. And we are all looking for peace, looking for hope, an answer – a change.

Yet we direct natural and tangible weapons at supernatural culprits. So then while we fight, we lose. While we are strong, we are weak.

This book was written to help shine a light on the supernatural weapons – such as faith, the Word of God, righteousness, the gospel, truth, hope, and love – that we need to defeat the unseen enemy of the dark world. And it is ironic that I would write this because I am no doctor, no professor; I have no degree, no diploma (mostly because I am 11 years old). I have no badge, presumably no authority or knowledge to direct you to the truth. But you are reading this because these words are not mine, but they are the words that the Lord imparted to my heart.

The reason you read this book is that I believe. I believe in God the Father, Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit. For I believe that in my weakness, he is strong. In my life, he is sovereign, and it is only in him that we find our strength.

Because I have chosen to believe, I set my heart not on human understanding but on the peace that passes all understanding, on the truth, on the One who controls all life, all manners, all movements. So then while I am weak, I am strong. ‘While we are perplexed, we are not driven to despair, while we are pressed with troubles, we are not crushed, and while we are persecuted, we are not abandoned, while we are struck down, we are not destroyed’ (2 Corinthians 4:8–9).

So I wrote this book to assure you, with myself as a testament, that he will come through; he will make a way out of no way. While it is no guarantee that your circumstance will change, you will change from the inside out. And as believers of Christ, we will be fed to a lost and dying world.

My other message is directed to anyone facing an unstable situation and who is in doubt: open your eyes and see. This is a moment of decision, a moment truly signifying the fact that we both need a saviour; we both need redemption, not on the outside but on the inside. While we may not all admittedly agree, we need inner restoration; deep inside of us, there is this one void that only one can fill. I say this with confidence because I have heard of God’s greatness with the hearing of the ear, but in these past few years of my life, I have seen him come through.

Of all the things that I guarantee you in this book, I cannot agree more strongly on the fact that if you seek him, you will find him. If you ask, you will receive. If you knock, the door shall be opened for you.

    INTRODUCTION

In the very beginning, the book you are holding started off as an idea. I was 9 years old when I felt moved and intent to author a book. It seemed like a distant thought and goal I had planned for my life. But just as the Word of God was like a fire shut up in Jeremiah’s bones, so this fire of passion was burning on the inside of me. So this distant 9-year-old goal I had for my life transformed into the very book you are holding right now.

‘But what is the power of God?’ I hear you ask. This book does not only focus on the power of God but also reminds us of the power we have in God as a church and as believers of Christ. When I first picked up a pen and a paper, I looked around me. I determined my every step and that of my peers and thousands of others. I became very observant of the cry of this generation, the cry of the broken-hearted, the cry of those entangled in life’s mess and suffering. Not only did I feel the need for relevance to all audiences but I also had the urge to authenticate every word I wrote.

My passion was propelled by my belief in Christ that he would come through and make a way out of no way. I am here to testify that he did. I want to let you know, dear reader, that as long as you stand firm in Jesus Christ and on that firm foundation, that petty flame of passion can be heightened and grow into a fervent fire.

The power of God has no limits. But sometimes it is invisible to the human eye. So we question his reality; we conclude that he is powerless and does not work. I am here to say otherwise.

This could be exemplified as food. There is a lot of food in the world – many different varieties, flavours, cuisines, textures, and nationalities – but as much food as there is in this planet, there is hunger. The different varieties of food available to many parts of the world do not bring satisfaction to the hungry. The knowledge of thousands of cuisines that others dine in does not override their hunger or quench their thirst. Even the sight of plentiful meals and banquets cannot bring any satisfaction until it is consumed by those who are hungry.

Likewise, we cannot experience the power of God by hearing the pastor’s three-hour sermon on his power. Even the sight of the healed and delivered does not satisfy our hunger. We cannot fully find satisfaction and silence our hunger until we have tasted the bread of life. We cannot experience the power of God and grasp its reality until we taste and see. For it is just as David said in Psalm 34:8 (NLT). ‘Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him.’

But there is more. I have repeatedly thought about who my audience is, for whom I had written these words. It was then that I realised what really precipitated my ambition. I realised that every word I wrote was inspired by the Word of God to me.

What I have written to you, dear reader, is what the Holy Spirit was saying to me. When I say that you are more
