About this ebook

“ As I brace myself for what more the future holds, I open my Bible that rests just in front of me on the glass tabletop with the Lord on my mind and prayer in my heart. Little did I know...soon after the death of the birds that the fish would soon begin to perish shortly after across the world as well.”

Standing in the Gap - 9/11: The Watchman touches on how Sammie found the Lord and became a Christian while serving in the US’s army. While in battle on a special mission in the Congo, he discovered Jesus and no longer wished to perform his duties as a soldier at war. Even though he was surrounded by blood & death daily, he did not die. Thanks to his prayers and his salvation, he did not have to take anyone else’s life either. Listen as Sammie explains his beliefs on what is going on with the world (such as 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, the tsunami in Indonesia, Haiti’s earthquake, severe winters, the floods in Australia, why the birds and fish are dying) and why.

Bio
Having been born and raised in upstate South Carolina during a time when there was not much opportunity for African-Americans, Sammie never saw himself as limited by any form of oppression. He realized that he had been given many talents & insights from God, which has allowed him to push ahead through any obstacles. He grew up in the same neighborhood as the renowned Rev. Jesse Jackson, as Jesse lived just a block away from Sammie. The grandfather of Kevin Garnett (the professional NBA player for the Boston Celtics that lived part of his early years in South Carolina) was Sammie’s god brother and he spent much of his time being a mentor to Sammie while working for Sammie’s father. God allowed Sammie to cross paths with these individuals so that he would be aware that he could also be great. Sammie has been great in many ways. Sammie has spent much of his adult life serving his Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ. He can be found on most days with Bible in hand – speaking or receiving the Word of God with family & friends. He spent three years in the military and went to the Congo for 45 days. He walked the streets and ate with mercenaries; however, he is now a veteran. He is an excellent artist and has produced a variety of artwork. A prominent figure in his community, Sammie has served as a deacon at Rocky Creek Baptist Church for over 20 years. He retired as a world-class mechanic at Michelin Corp. after working for 25 years. He enjoys fishing, traveling, and gardening. He cherishes his wife, Bobbie (whom he’s been married to for almost 50 years), his children, and his grandchildren. Ever since his earliest days, he has loved family and storytelling.

    Prologue

Do you feel awe when thinking about and experiencing all of the amazing things in your life and the world at times? Do you question the horrible things that you see on the news, in the lives of others, or even in your own life at still other times? Many people spend their whole lives constantly searching for answers to questions, big and small, and even the reason for their own existence. This searching is unnecessary. The answers are available to us in the Bible.

Have you ever asked God to show you a sign? If so, do you know whether or not He responded? For He says my people see but they don’t see. They hear but they don’t hear. Matthew 13:13 (King James Version) Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

It could be possible that you received an answer but didn’t even know that you received it. Maybe you were looking in all the wrong places and didn’t even realize that God was trying to communicate with you.

After reading this book, I hope that you will be enlightened to use the Bible to allow you to see and understand the things that God wants you to see and understand after reading his word and meditating on it.His word was written out of love as a guideline for your precious life.

It is my belief that one of the greatest signs that we have ever received has been the event of 9/11 and the destruction of the World Trade Center. I want to ask you to read Revelations 18, and see if you can see what I see concerning 9/11.If so, I would ask that you would contact us and share your insights. It is also my hope that you will buy this book and read it in its entirety. My prayer for you is that you will be able to see the signs that I have seen, and that you will start using your Bible to help you through your daily life as God has intended for you to do.Whether you feel like you are lost and struggling through your life, or just wish to have a closer relationship with God and be able to see the signs he gives you; this book has been written for you.

I feel extremely blessed that God has given me this incredible gift to see the things I see and the ability to pass them on to His children. I only ask that you would have an open mind and an open heart to be able to receive the word of God as he intended for you to do. You must have faith and believe in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in order to understand what God would have you do and how you can better live a Godly life.He truly has a plan for your life, and it is outlined in His word.

Revelations 18:8 (King James Version) Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her. Does this sound anything like September 11th to you?

Amos 8:11 (King James Version) Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD. Don’t be one of those affected by this devastating famine!God’s loving word is available to you now.

Please join me on this enlightening and wonderful journey as we look at the word of God together and explore ways to apply it in our lives. It’s the only way to reach your full and true potential!

Chapter 1 - The Word From The Mouth of God

    ISAIAH 34:16 (King James Version)

Seek ye (You) out of the book of the LORD (the Bible), and read: no one of these shall fail, for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.

The Bible is the WORD of GOD.The Bible is the Word of God that was given to man from the mouth of God. God supernaturally guided the writers in the way that He wanted them to write the scriptures of His HOLY WORD and commanded that they place it in a book. This book is known by the name of the HOLY BIBLE.

Some people believe that not all the scriptures were inspired by Him, but I think that every word came from the mouth of God, to all the prophets and to the men of God that were chosen by Him to write His written word. God said that you and I can do nothing without Him, and I believe that this is a very true statement from God.

2 TIMOTHY 3:14-17 (King James Version)

But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child, thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through, faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine (a system of religious belief), for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (good moral living). That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

The word of God is just as much alive today as it was in yesteryear (during Moses’ time) right up until today. Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, rose on the 3rd day and is alive and well!

The preaching of the cross and the Bible, to them that don’t believe, is foolishness; but unto us, which are saved it is the power of God’s word. It is written in God’s word, that He will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent man.

Can you tell me: Where are the wise men, the scribes and the disputers of God’s word? God has made foolishness of the wisdom of the people of the world who have given their hearts to the world. It is your heart and soul that God wants for Him only!

But unto them which are called, Christ has given them the power of God, and the wisdom of God.The foolishness of God is wiser than men will ever be; and the weakness of God is stronger than men could ever dream.

For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called

But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty (1 Corinthians 1:26, King James Version)

If you believe not God’s writing; you are lost, but not dead. There is hope. Trust and believe!

For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.(Ecclesiastes 9:4, King James Version)

Chapter 2 - Who is God?

2 Samuel 22:32 (King James Version)

For who is God, save the LORD? And who is a rock, save our God?

I am deacon at my beloved church, Rocky Creek Baptist Church in Simpsonville, SC.One thing I know with great certainty is that the Bible says that you should put God first in all of the things that you do. After reflecting upon this, I’ve realized that the one ultimate way for me to do this is to tell you who God is and some of the things that I know about Him.

First of all, there is power in the word of God. You may ask me how I know this. The Bible tells me so. He said in the scripture that His word is true. I have seen time and time again (not only in my life, but in the lives of others who believe and follow His word) that His word is powerful and a true gift that has been given to us.

God is the holiest of the holy.Holiness is perfection. Holiness means to be entirely sin-free. Our Lord is the only perfect entity. Why wouldn’t we embrace the words of the only perfect being and try to imitate Him with our lives?

He is the creator of everything in this world. He created it all. There is nothing that wasn’t created by Him. The Lord said in scripture that we should know by all of the amazing things around us that these things didn’t just happen. Everything had to be created. He has lovingly given us the gift of His powerful word to learn about His creation and use as a guidebook for our lives.

Genesis 2:7 (King James Version) And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. When you read this scripture, it states that man was not complete until God breathed life into him. If you’ve ever lost someone, you know that there is a body there, but God has taken the breath of life away from the body. As stated in Ecclesiastes 12:7 (King James Version), God gives the breath of life, and he takes away the breath of life. Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

The world is just too beautiful and complex when you look at the things around you for there not to have been a creator. The human body is so unique, and every human being that has been created in his image has unique characteristics. We often wonder what came first – the chicken or the egg. We had to have had a creator, and I believe God is He, the only one true God. What an amazing creator He is to have given us His word to learn about all He has created and to live by.

One of the things that makes our Lord so special is that in the beginning (after He made the heavens and Earth) He saw in His heart that something was missing. He spoke things into being, but He got
