About this ebook

When life gives you lemons, make blood.

Life hasn't been good for Eric Dustin. From being stuck with a job he doesn't like and having all his dreams crushed, everything hasn't been going as he imagined. One day, after getting off work, he bumped into a lady named Luciana Grimward near the train station, who accidentally dropped an amulet on the ground beside him. In a small act of kindness, Eric decided to return the amulet to the police station the next day, however, this leads to a chain of events in which Eric is chased by werewolves and is on the verge of death.

Luckily, Eric was saved by the lady he met earlier who was in fact a vampire sent by a secret group called the 'Organization of Supernaturals and Monsters' or O.S.M. After falling unconscious, Eric wakes up in a room inside the organization's base and realizes that all his wounds healed up. Just as he was about panic, a man named Kyker Vanlot, a leader of O.S.M. Special Unit Five, came through a door and tells Eric that he has been turned into a vampire with the only way of going back to being human is to join O.S.M. and help them take down supernatural activities otherwise he'll be as a vampire forever.

With no other choice, Eric reluctantly joined O.S.M. to fight supernatural beings based on myths, urban legends, and even fairy tales with the help of his new high and mighty partner, Luciana, and the rest of Special Unit Five. Will Eric's life finally turn around, or will it continue to go downhill?

Chapter 1: A Night to Remember

Mm... what time is it? I woke up with cold still in my eyes, confused in thought wondering what happened. Oh yeah... I was at the Pub with Tommy last night complaining about work and getting dru-... oh no. Feeling nausea, I stood up from my bed, ran over to the bathroom, and threw up in the toilet. Not a pleasant way to wake up, especially when I have to go to work today.

Once I was done vomiting from the toilet, still half asleep, I walk back into my room and check the clock near my dresser to see what time it was. Ah shit, it’s 8:15! I'm going to be late. Quickly, I brush my teeth and jumped into the shower. After getting washed up, I double-check myself in the bathroom mirror to make sure I look somewhat presentable. Face clean, suspenders on, hair is brush...hmm... maybe I should get a haircut. Wait Eric stop, now isn’t the time for that! As I grab some medicine for my stomach in the bathroom cabinet, I took my uniform from my coat hanger and dashed out my apartment door.

Morning, Sweetheart. Said the old lady.

Mornin’, Mrs. Johnson. I passed Mrs. Johnson and rushed down the stair at blazing speed, trying not to run over anyone.

As I made it to the ground floor, I blasted my way out the entrance and ran straight down to the train station.

"*Gasp* Just made it on time..." Wish my car wasn’t broke down so I would be in a rush to take the train. Oh well, it'll be fixed by Saturday. That’s about... two days from now. I can deal with taking the train for the time being.

As I board the train, I sat down near two older ladies who seem to be in their 40s, quietly having a conversation among themselves. So, did you hear? A group of people got gruesomely murdered last night. said the lady in glasses. Yeah, I heard it on the News; they said that the victims' bodies were unrecognizable like they were eaten alive. The Police don’t even know who or how they got kill but, but the rumor is it some kind of serial killer. Said the other lady.

Killer... eaten... what the hell happened last night. As I wait for the train to stop at my station, I reminisce about the night before when I was drunk. From what I can recall, I think was talking to Tommy about my dreams being crushed after college, and how I'm now in debt to that college. Pretty much how my life has been going straight down the gutter lately.

Hmm... was there anything else? As I whisper to myself, trying to recollect anything I forgot, a face slowly came into my mind. It was of a woman who looks like the same age as me with long silver hair and sharp red eyes. She was a few seats from the side of us wearing a unique outfit. If I recall, it was a cold black coat with bright red buttons; on the front of that coat was a design of a golden bird that looks like a phoenix. She also wore tight black pants and knee-high boots.

The seemly noble-looking woman was having a conversation with the bartender about something; I didn’t hear what exactly they were talking about but, from what I can remember, it sounded like a serious discussion. Will, it wasn’t my business anyway so, I mainly ignored their conversation. I think I talk to her about something though I cannot remember what it was. After a few more drinks with Tommy, I blackout and woke up on my bed this morning. Tommy probably took me home when I was out cold, so he may know what else happen last night.

We have arrived at Chester East Station. As I hear the announcement of my station, I woke up from my daydreaming and step off the train. A short walk after I came from the station, I arrive at my work office. It was your typical multi-million-dollar company 10-story building, a tall white building with windows surrounding it all. The only difference between this and other company buildings is the giant logo on top of the it that says KCAB, which stands for Kenworthy Communication And Business.

Still tired from last night, I walk through the front entrance and make my way to my workstation. When I arrived, I was greeted by one of my co-workers. She was a woman who was a few years older than me; I think around 27, has short black hair with one side longer than the other, her eyes were green as emerald, and a voice that was nice but firm.

    Mornin’ Eric.

Hraaaarh... mornin’ Jessie. Yawning to myself, I approach our break room to pour myself a cup of coffee to wake me up. Oh... yeah, before I forget, let me talk about what we do inside this place; it will be real quick so let us clear that up for later. Everyone is divided into three main sections depending on where you work.

First, is Planning and Management which is where most of the managers work to do marketing and advertising for our products and services, but if you ask me, most of our stuff is pretty shitty but that's just my opinion.

Next; is Finance which is where Tommy and I work at doing paperwork and making sure everything is organized, it may sound simple but, once you start to get a huge stack of papers on top of your desk, it turns chaotic and frustrating extremely fast.

Finally, there is Customer Services which is where Jessie works at. They help people who have an issue with the service but, most of the time it's just lots of people with angry complaints. I don’t know how she can put up with so many people's crap all day but, it's really damn impressive.

There are other jobs here too like Security, Janitorial, and so on but, those are unimportant for this story. So, for now, let us continue where we left off. *Ahem* After I pour my coffee, I continue to chat with Jessie as I walk to my desk.

You seem tired today. Did you drink too much last night, Eric?

Yeah, Tommy invited me to go to the Pub. He must have felt bad seeing me burn out from work yesterday. Wait a minute, how did you know I went drinking?

Huh?! Do you not remember I was supposed to go with you guys? Serious, are you sure you’re not drunk still?

Can it will you, and are you supposed to be in your department already?

It’s 9:15; my department doesn’t open for another 15 minutes. So, I got plenty of time to mess with you.

Mess with Me?! I thought you came here to chat.

Nah, I just came to see what kind of faces you make today. And I was not disappointed. Maybe I should add being devilish as one of her traits.

"*Sigh*" I sat down at my desk getting set up for work with Jessie still bugging me but as I was doing that, I hear familiar footsteps coming towards my desk. I could not tell who it was exactly, but once I heard the voice I immediately knew, it was none other than my good old friend and co-worker Tommy.

Well, you look like you’re doing ok. Thought you were going to come to work half-naked still stinking of booze.

Seriously, is there anybody that has a little respect for me? Well, that’s Tommy for you, always making snarking-ass comments like he always does. About a year ago is where I met him; I was waiting to get an interview to work in the Finance Section and so, to pass the time, I thought it was a good idea to chat with someone. But the only two people in the Waiting Room were Myself and Tommy.

He wore a clean and tight professional office outfit and short brown hair covering his left eye which is the style he wears to this day. He gave off the impression of some uptight goody-two-shoes; someone who kisses someone ass. Anyhow, during the time we were waiting for our interviews, we started to chat. We talk about our favorite beers, hobbies, and some advice. After talking for a while, I slowly realize that he was a kind and cool dude with a bit of snark. And before you know it, we became friends.

Anyway, Jessie, you should go back to your department before the big boss starts howling at you again. Said Tommy.

"*Sigh*... Alright, Alright, I go. Ok, I see you guys on lunch break."

As Jessie walk back to her department, Tommy sat down at his desk which, was right next to me, and began working.

    Oh yeah, Eric.

    What’s up, Tommy?

Were you able to get that girl’s number?

Who? You mean Jessie? I puzzled.

No, you idiot. The girl that was at the Pub last night.

Oh, that. Sorry, I don’t remember much from last night. Would you telling me what happened?

So, basically while You and I were drinking, this girl with silver hair came into the Pub. You thought that the girl was cute and tried hitting on her. Keep in mind that you were totally wasted, and I was in the bathroom at the time so, I heard this after the fact when you were talking drunk. Anyway, you said a lot of stupid things to the point where I have to pull you out of the Pub.

    Jeez, what did I said?

Stuff like ‘I can become your prince of the universe’ and ‘I the only man you’ll need in life.’ It didn’t help that you also threw up on her when I tried to pull you away from her. I can keep going if you want to.

Please don’t. After feeling embarrassed from what happened last night, I refocus myself and continue working.

A few hours passed, and during that time, I have gotten a lot more papers on my desk. My pissy boss told me that all these papers needed to be done by the end of the day. I swear, sometimes I just want to roll these papers up and shove them right up his ass.

Oh... it's almost time for our lunch break. Tommy said looking at his watch. As Tommy says that an alarm bell began to ring in my head.

Oh, crap! I was in such a hurry this morning that I forgot to grab my lunch.

Do you have some money on you, or did you also forgot that too? Tommy said cold and sarcastically.

Yep, it still in my pouch.

Well, lucky for you, there’s a shop near here that sells sandwiches. I tell you where to go.

Ahhhhh. Thanks, Tommy, you really are a cool guy despite your emo-looking face.

    Piss off.

Once it was time for my lunch break, I walked out from the front entrance and make my way to the market.

I haven’t checked much around this area where I work, so it was all pretty new to me. Much of the time when I'm done work, I usually just go straight home and fell onto my bed from exhaustion. I buy most of my food at the local store near me and, I order other things like clothing and video games online. But I do know where all the important places are like the hospital, police office, and my favorite noodle shop. Though, sometimes I asked Tommy where places are because I forget sometimes.

The shop was inside a shopping district called Chester Plaza, which was surrounded by different shops. From fashion stores to arcades, and of course restaurants. It was pretty most a place for all your basic needs but for me, I usually stick to my local shops.

As I took a stroll around the plaza, I came across the shop Tommy was talking about. Jackson's Deli. This looks like the place. It looks like a regular family-run shop that sells sandwiches. Well, they do say that homemade food tasted the best. I walked inside the shop and ask the cashier for order.

Excuse me, can I have a ham and turkey hoagie with no tomatoes?

Sure thing, that would be $7.99. And do you want something also, sir?

Sir? Confused for a second, I turn my head to the side and saw another person standing. He was a tall black man in a dark green suit with a yellow-orange tie. He had blonde hair with golden eyes that feel like they are looking into my soul.

Oh, I’m sorry. Did I startle you? said the mysterious man. His voice was both gentle and mysterious making it hard to tell what he was thinking.

Oh no. It’s ok. That’s weird, I could’ve sworn there was nobody next to me. Maybe I wasn’t paying close attention.

Forgive my manners, I didn’t introduce myself. My name is Kyker Vanlot. It’s a pleasure to meet you.

    Chapter 2: Interesting Happenings

I shook the strange man's hand which he covers with brown leather gloves and introduces myself.

Nice to meet ya, the name’s Eric. Eric Dustin. After I shook his hand, the strange man who called himself Kyker started to ponder to himself.

Eric, you say. Hmm... Say Mr. Eric do you mind having a chat with me? Our food is going to take a moment so, why not we take this chance to talk to each other?

    Umm... sure, I don’t mind.

Excellent! With glee in his voice Kyker sat down near a table and I follow suit.

So, Kyker was it? What didja want to talk about?

For today’s topic of discussion, how about we talk about ourselves. Tell me about yourself, Mr. Eric.

About myself?  I don’t really have anything special about me. In fact, I’m prolly the most boring and lame guy you will ever meet.

You’re certain about that? Well, to me, Mr. Eric, I think there's something rather interesting about you. It feels like if I were to stay with you, miraculous things would happen.

Nah... I think you may be thinking of a different person. And besides, nothing spectacular ever happens to me. Well actually, it's more of the opposite... My head looked downwards as I said that with thoughts of past entering my mind.

Is something the matter, Mr. Eric?

Oh... no, it's nothing, That sounded depressing, better change the conversation quickly.

    A-anyway, what about you Kyker?

    Me?!

Yeah, what do you do? From the way you dress, you look like someone with a lot of money. If I have to guess maybe... a banker or a high-class noble.

"*Chuckle* It's nothing like that Mr. Eric. Hmm...If I have to say, I'm more of a... manager."

Manager? So, you help run a company, right?

Mmm...Yes, you could say that. How about you, Mr. Eric? What’s your occupation?

For me I work at an office doing paperwork and making sure everything is organized. It’s not particularly the most exciting job.

Do you like your job, Mr. Eric?

Well...to tell you the truth, not really. But you gotta have money so, I just suck up. It wasn’t the first job I want to work at but, that's how the cookie crumb, I guess. Sometimes I wonder if my life would just forever be a cog in the machine. Maybe one day break free from that company. I said softly.

Who knows, Mr. Eric. The world works in mysterious ways.

After Kyker was done talking, I heard the shop clerk calling out for our orders. We both stood up from where we were sitting and grab our food. I took a bite from my hoagie to see what it tastes like.

Mmmm. This actually tastes way better than I thought. Like, Holy Shit, what kind of witchcraft did they do to make this simple hoagie so good! Is it the sauce? Meat? Bread? Well, whatever it is, it damn good. I should come back here next time. ...maybe.

As I was still standing there in trance at how amazing this hoagie tasted,
