I got into writing at a young age, but it wasn't exactly for the sake of writing. I had to write a short story to pass my English Class, which I was failing miserably. I got an A+, but the draft sucked. It wasn't until about the age of 19 that I really became serious about writing. I wrote the original draft of "Chronicles of the End of the World", and then posted it on FictionPress, and when I got the only 8 reviews I would ever receive for it, I knew I was ready to try it for real. However, life has a funny way of catching you by the tail, and I had to set it aside, and try to find work. It wouldn't be until Summer of 2008 before I actually began to work on the initial redraft of "Chronicles". The first few drafts really sucked, but I kept at it, until I had completed the work that is on Smashwords.

PROLOGUE – Merry Fucking Christmas

Christmas is my day off—normally. I’m Brad McHenry, a Detective with the Indian City Metro PD. I’m harder on criminals than my colleagues, which has gotten me suspended a few times. Despite that, I’ve managed to keep a solid arrest record. My usual day goes as follows: Wake, shit, shower, shave, kick the cat out that keeps coming down to my apartment for some odd reason (I still haven’t figured out how he keeps getting in), and then leave the apartment complex, which is made out of an old hospital (I was lucky enough to get one of the rooms with a kitchen and a shower that works).

However, today started differently. I woke up to the sound of arguing from the apartment next door. He’s usually quiet, but since he got this new girlfriend, his old one has been coming around, harassing him. To be quite honest, it’s causing me to lose sleep, and like a TV show, it happens every Friday night from nine until ten, with your friendly announcer, Brad McHenry!
