Each of the 1,401 powerful verses has either a question that pricks the conscience of the reader, excites him or her, and provokes in the reader the urge to review his or her relationship with God. Interacting with some of the posers contained in this work will definitely lead to a sober reflection of the reader as well as strengthen one's abiding faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. In addition to the questions, there are some explanations on some of the deep sayings of the Holy Bible which most readers tend to misconstrue.

Above all, this work will induce readers, particularly Christians, to take ownership in godly pursuits and to domesticate their relationship with God. This is against the lukewarm attitude of most Christians who treat God as an abstract being. This work is about the desire to draw near the God in us and to personalize our relationship with him. The work concludes with an afterword which is a candid advice from the heart of the author to all readers.

To God Almighty and to all Christians in the universe.

I acknowledge God Almighty, our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost which gave me the strength and divine inspiration that nurtured and sustained me to put together this work after fifteen years of being in the mill. All glory and honor be unto Him alone.

And to my lovely angel of a wife, Mrs. Caroline Akudinigbe Ijioma, who it pleased the Lord to bless me with, for I am not worthy of her—I remain forever indebted. I understand and know that it was out of your inconvenience that this project came to reality. I cannot thank you enough. God bless you.

    Preface

The work on My Holy Bible Extracts of Powerful Verses started fifteen years ago under the inspiration of God Almighty, precisely in 2004, while I was convalescing from an ankle injury occasioned by an auto crash. Between then and now, I have read the Holy Bible, the King James version, for a total of ten (10) times without missing a day. When I say ten times, I mean complete reading of the Word of God every day without missing any day from the Preface to the word Amen being the last word in the book of Revelation.

The period which it took me to complete each straight reading varied, but the fastest I did was four (4) months and twenty-one days from 9 November 2012 to 28 March 2013. The longest time it took me to complete a reading was four (4) years and twenty-eight days from 21 September 2014 to 14 January 2019. Do not bother yourself with why this is so because as my moods varied, so also the requirements of my office dictated.

The chronological order within the time frame it took to complete the straight readings of the Holy Bible is at a glance below:

First straight daily reading: 2 January 2004–22 December 2006.

Second straight daily reading: 23 December 2006–4 August 2007.

Third straight daily reading: 5 August 2007–2 May 2009.

Fourth straight daily reading: 3 May 2009–31 December 2010.

Fifth straight daily reading: 1 January 2011–18 November 2011.

Sixth straight daily reading: 19 November 2011–9 November 2012.

Seventh straight daily reading: 10 November 2012–28 March 2013.

Eight straight daily reading: 29 March 2013–21 September 2014.

Ninth straight daily reading: 22 September 2014–14 January 2019.

    Tenth straight reading: 15 January, 2019–July 3, 2020

The work of compiling the manual manuscript of the extracts prior to the computer typesetting took between January 2019 to 25 March 2019. This work is meant for all God-fearing men and women, adults, and children who love the Lord, God Almighty, and are desirous of knowing His Word, and most importantly, using the powerful Bible extracted verses to do wonderful works of God. It is particularly meant for Christians who would soon discover the power in the Word of God when put to use as they confront the challenges of life in general and Christianity in particular. The powerful verses which have been very carefully selected would help to unravel the Christ in you as you put God to test by challenging Him to uphold His Word indeed as in words. It is meant not to make you a better Christian but a true Christian in word and in deed.

Many Christian believers will discover their specific gifts and talents after just six months of engaging with these powerful extracts. Many will discover their gift of prophecy and would soon become powerful prophets and prophetess, powerful preachers of the Word of God, and many others renowned evangelists. Many more would see visions and dream dreams like Joseph while several others will discover their gifts of healing and other talents embedded in them as it pleases the Holy Ghost to bestow on them.

A word of caution to all users of this work. It is not a substitute for the Holy Bible and is never intended to be one. It is going to become an earth-shaking revelation and very potent because it is the Word of God and the moving Spirit of God through His Word will do mighty miracles with all those who would avail themselves the opportunity of putting to practical test this wonderful work. This work is not in any way intended as a substitute for the Holy Bible; rather, it is intended to induce the reader to make constant reference to the Holy Bible. As for the challenges we face in life, you will soon discover that these extracts from the Holy Bible would become a potent weapon for solving the problems you encounter, provided you apply them properly. There is no magic in using this piece of work, but rather, the wonderful work of God shall be made more manifest as you put this work to use to the glory of God Almighty.

Also, in this work, there are posers in the form of self-searching but provocative questions which are meant to put you in front of the mirror for a self-assessment test. Be sure you answer those questions sincerely whenever you come across them. They are always in the bracket. Do not gloss over them. You must convince yourself that your answers to the posers are honest, sincere, and truthful. These are the primers and motivators with multiplier effects that induce you into the spiritual realm wherein your spiritual self-understanding would be enlightened.

It is intended that this work would be widely published in all languages spoken in the world. This is to make it possible for all peoples, particularly Christians everywhere in the world to leverage the potency of the Word of God to free themselves from bondage and move on to perform their earthly and heavenly bound duty to humanity and to God Almighty. Read, understand, and apply the Word of God compressed into these 1,401 extracts designed to help you realize your fullest potential and actualize your God-given abilities as a Christian. Do not forget to give your testimonies when the miracle of God begins to manifest in your life through His power in His work. The blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ shall rain and reign mightily in your life as you deploy this arsenal to fulfill the work of God to His glory. Amen.

    The Old Testament

    Genesis

    1. And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son (22:13). God provided an alternative to Abraham having proven his faithfulness and obedience. God will always provide for all those who are truly in dire need but are faithful and obedient to him.

    2. And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink and I will give thy camels drink also, let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master (24:14). Are you a Christian without signs and wonders to show for your faith? Do you pray? Do you set benchmark to evaluate your relationship with God? Even Abraham's servant did so in his enterprise in finding a wife for Isaac.

    3. And he said, Come in thou blessed of the Lord; wherefore standest thou without? for I have prepared the house, and room for the camels (24:31). Are you not blessed of the Lord? God's favor will locate you irrespective of where you go to. He is God of the heaven and the earth.

    4. And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide; and he lifted up his eyes, and behold, the camels were coming (24:63). Do you meditate on the Word of God?

    5. And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom (25:30). Are you Esau? Are you Edom? Is your desire all about food? Be careful with what you make your priority in life, lest it becomes a stumbling block or ruinous to your destiny in life. I know that many people will deny being Esau or Edom, but in truth, that is what many people are. The desire for primitive accumulation of wealth is equivalent to Esau's inclination for food. Hear him; feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage. He had always been fond of eating Jacob's red pottage.

    6. And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright (25:31). Are you a modern-day Jacob demanding for the birthright of your brother for a plate of pottage? Are you dangling gifts and assistance to your less privileged brothers and sisters in exchange for their prized possessions? This issue is not limited to interpersonal relationship. It extends to policy of states. Are aid programs being extended to countries on the conditionality of their change in behavior or culture? Do poor African countries have to accept or compelled to accept to be gay to benefit from aid packages from more powerful western countries? Was this any different from what Jacob did? Let wealthy individuals and leaders of the free world modify their behaviors towards others.

    7. And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? (25:32). Do you regard food so much as to believe that without it for a little while you will die? Would Esau have died without eating Jacob's pottage? The answer is no. So African leaders need to watch it with western and Asian countries from where they are currently mortgaging their countries with unwarranted and needless loans with high interest rates. Do not take God's blessings and favor bestowed on you for granted. Do not trade away the gift of God for your temporary self-aggrandizement.

    8. And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob (25:33). Are you quick in swearing oaths? Are you quick in entering and signing agreements? Do you exercise caution and discretion? Should you not be circumspect in decision-making? Do not be too quick lest you sell your birthright before realizing it. Remember that God is always a witness to all our dealings with each other in life, and so do not swear at all.

    9. Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentils; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright (25:34). What Esau took away in exchange for his birthright was a plate of food and a bottle of Fanta. He left behind his birthright for which he will later bemoan. In today's world, what is the worth or cost of one plate of food with a bottle of Fanta? How much would you be willing to take for your birthright? Have you already despised your birthright like Esau? It was his indiscretion that brought curse upon him and his generations after him. That was the reason that even though he desired his father's blessings and begged for it with tears, he got nothing. Even though he wept bitterly until he drowned in his tears, there was nothing for him. Be careful and induce not yourself into temptation as Esau did.

    10. And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed (26:4). This was promise made and promise fulfilled. Are you not multiplied yet? Are you not progressing in life? Are there not great prospects in your life? Would you obey the Word of God like Isaac?

    11. Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him (26:12). Like Isaac, you will sow in the land and reap hundredfold. And the Lord will bless you all the days of your life.

    12. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great (26:13). Isaac waxed great and went forward in life and became very great because he obeyed the Word of God, as his father Abraham did. Are you waxing great in the Word of God? Are you moving forward in life? Have you obeyed the Word of God like Isaac?

    13. And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man. My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing (27:11–12). Are you not like Jacob who was making excuses instead of obeying his mother's instructions? Many Christians are in this mindset of giving excuses. Did Jacob, after all was said and done, incur curses or blessings for following his mother's instructions? So many people are like this nowadays. Instead of obeying and following the instructions of their parents, they will give excuses. Even when God is directing them, they make excuses and remain where they were instead of moving forward in life.

    14. And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob's voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau (27:22). Is this your situation in life?

    15. And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the Lord hath blessed: Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine: Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be the lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother's sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee (27:27–29). Do you know that blessings and curses have a history? This was the history of the origin of Jacob's blessings with his descendants and the origin of Esau's curses with his descendants. Do you have your father's blessings? And if your father had passed on, do you have the blessings of your mother? Do you know the history of your fate?

    16. And by thy sword shall thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck (27:40). Do you have dominion now? Have you broken off the yoke of your brother over you?

    17. And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of (28:15). Carefully reflect and reevaluate the wonderful promises of God to you in this passage and say why you should not claim it and move forward in life. In other words, I want you to state what you have done with God's promises in your life and in the life of people around you.

    18. And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven (28:17). Do you fear God? Have you never had a dream and an encounter with God?

    19. And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God (28:20–21) This was Jacob's prayer and vow. He kept his word. Do you pray like this and vow to the Lord God? Have you fulfilled your vows after God answered your prayer? Do you not find occasion and reason to default? Has God all the while not provided you with food to eat and clothed you? What vow have you vowed to the Lord God? Has the Lord not been leading you out and bringing you back in peace on daily basis? Have you vowed a vow to make the Lord your God as Jacob did? Herein lies the differences in people, and it is made manifest. Whereas, Jacob reckons his going out and coming in, in peace as a great work of the Lord God in his life, many people who enjoyed the same favor hardly reckons it as the work of God which should be appreciated. And it is therefore easily overlooked and taken for granted by many. Whereas Jacob acknowledges God and places high value in his relationship with him, many take their relationship with God for granted. What vow have you made to God as a mark of your commitment to him? How much do you value your relationship with God?

    20. And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee (28:22). Which pillar have you set up for God in your life? Have you willingly and with devotion given him the tenth of all that you have received of him? Really? If you have, this is what is called tithe. And if you say that you have really done this, let me ask you this simple question. What tenth part of your children or child, as the case may be, did you give back to God?

    21. I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands (32:10). Do you acknowledge the hand of God and his blessings in your life? Do you attribute all your successes to him or do you reckon that it is because of your hard work and qualifications? Give all glory and honor to God for all your achievements in life. Always remember where and how you started out in life, usually with little or nothing.

    22. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel; for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed (32:28). Have you ever wrestled with God? In prayers or in your thought? If you have never done this, you need to engage God in a wrestling contest. Be prepared for it. It is only by so doing that you are able to change the course of events and your destiny in life.

    23. Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments (35:2). Are there strange gods with you? Is there a strange god in your life? Was there ever a strange god in your life? Is it now in your past? Are you now clean?

    24. And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob (35:5). If you win the favor of God, his terror would be upon all your enemies. Your journey in life and through life will be blessed with unqualified success and unmerited favor.

    25. And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins (35:11). God said this to Israel then. What is God saying to you today? Is he not saying the same thing to you?

    26. And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him (37:23). I am sure that many Christians are conversant with the story of Joseph and his brothers. But are we conversant with the symbol of Joseph's coat of many colors? That the coat of many colors was a symbol for diverse blessings? Are we conversant with what his brothers did when they conspired to kill him and stript him of his coat of many colors? The coat of many colors was the honor and glory which Jacob their father had bestowed upon Joseph. Therefore, stripping him of the coat was the physical attempt by his brothers to take away the blessing, honor and glory bequeathed on Joseph by their father. As you read this scripture today, any attempt by anybody anywhere to rob you of God's blessings will lead to a higher blessing in your life. As Joseph was elevated to the position of prime minister next only to Pharaoh, so shall you be promoted. Whoever it pleased the Lord God to bless, no one can curse. The Lord God have blessed you above your peers and none can reverse it.

    27. And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian (39:2). Is the lord God not with you as he was with Joseph? Has there been any good man or woman that was not prosperous in life? Can you name any one person that walked with the Lord and did not prosper? Do you want to be prosperous like Joseph?

    28. But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand; There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back anything from me but thee because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? (39:8–9). Would you have overcome the temptation posed to Joseph by this woman, Potiphar's wife? Would you not have betrayed the trust of your master and taken advantage of his wife's foolishness? Would you have considered it a grave sin against God and restrained yourself because of the fear of God in you as Joseph did? Do you know that it is things such as this, that works for or against your destiny in life?

    29. And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her (39:10). Beware of the temptation of a woman. Resist every amoral advances from women of easy virtue and live. Had Joseph fallen for Potiphar's wife, his fate in life would have been sealed forever because he would have been destroyed.

    30. And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within. And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out (39:11–12). Have you seen how desperate Potiphar's wife was to lead Joseph into a grievous sin? She was all out to destroy Joseph. Do you know that this is how desperate the devil usually is to destroy Christians using polluted minds such as Potiphar's wife? I mean you and I that call on the name of the Lord God and profess our faith in him? But you know what? Discard your garment and flee far away from the devil as Joseph did.

    31. And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth, That she called unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying, See, he hath brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice (39:13–14). Was this true? Of course not. But know this, that whenever you act with goodwill, honor and with the fear of God, the devil is put to shame like Potiphar's wife and would fight back ferociously. But be comforted and remain firm because God will surely vindicate you. Be very careful with women for some of them are a very dangerous weapon in the hands of the devil, waiting to bring any man's downfall.

    32. But the Lord was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison (39:21). The Lord will be with you as he was with Joseph. His mercy and favor will locate you even when you are inside the prison. Be not afraid.

    33. The keeper of the prison looked not to anything that was under his hand; because the Lord was with him, and that which he did, the Lord made it to prosper (39:23). The Lord shall prosper you in everything that you do in life. Only keep your hands clean as Joseph did.

    34. But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house: For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon (40:14–15). Do you remember the good things done to you in your times of difficulty? Do you remember those people that did favor to you in your most trying times?

    35. And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant of the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret (41:12). Remember the time when Joseph entreated and besought the cup bearer to mention him to Pharaoh and to bring him out from the dungeon? He did not because he forgot. He forgot because God was preparing Joseph for the right time, and that right time came when Pharaoh was in dire need for an interpreter of dreams. That was the time the cup bearer rehearsed the name of Joseph to Pharaoh. The Lord will make you relevant and most needed at the most opportune time. Do not fret about. Wait for his time which usually is the best. Wait for God's appointed time.

    36. And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged (41:13). So it was. Did you hear the cup bearer's report to Pharaoh about Joseph? It was a true, accurate, and good report. Pharaoh desired urgently to see and have Joseph interpret his dreams. The Lord will cause a positive report about you to be narrated and rehearsed in high places and you would be desired as Joseph was.
