I saw the bright light illuminating my room that same day I called upon his name. I didn’t expect an answer and I did not expect a quick response. In November 2019, my brother, little sister, mother, and I, the big sister, flew from El Paso, Texas, for a short trip to Baja California. The trip was to celebrate my middle sisters’ fiftieth birthday. She lives in Whittier, California. In the family, we are three females and one male. It seemed like a fun trip because we have done this before on my fiftieth birthday, a year before the Baja trip.

In June 2018, we took the plane to Costa Rica with the same family member on board. It was a very fun vacation in Costa Rica. The food was delicious. The activities included zip lining, a tour to see the colorful birds and the cute monkeys, and we visited several beaches. We had a blast. We all enjoyed each other’s company and that was one reason I decided to take the short trip to Baja. The second reason was to see my childhood friend, Angie, and girlfriends that resided in Ensenada.

The Short Trip

In November 2019, we packed and headed to Ensenada, Mexico. We Traveled in a long van that seated twelve people from Whittier, California, to Baja. My brother was the driver. We talked, sang, and told jokes while commuting to Ensenada, and we stopped for a short, late lunch at Puerto Nuevo. That place has many restaurants and is famous for the lobsters.

After the late lunch, we headed to Ensenada to our hotel room. We were all staying in the same hotel and that night, we met for drinks at the hotel restaurant. We didn’t eat because we were full from the
