Scattered Thoughts - Rance A. Robeson Sr.

    Pocket Full of Dreams

Ilearn and listen to obtain my life’s mission that glistens, shines, and beams due to my focus, hunger-driven pockets full of dreams that dictate my life’s theme. As I journey through life’s different paths, never moving too slow but not too fast. Life is a marathon and not a 100-yard dash. I prepare myself to not fail or crash because there is no glory in coming in last. I don’t have much money, only a pocket full of dreams that dictates how to be successful, the top of the heap and cream. I am challenged to be all that I can be, highly motivated, truly dedicated. A go-getter, a disciplined, ambitious human being. My pocket full of dreams, I will never demean my backbone and spleen, undying self-respect and self-esteem untold.

Faith with confidence taught to never straddle the fence; always use intelligence with common sense along with courage and mental strength. A good man with a great plan, because poverty, I am not a worshipper or fan of; excellence from myself is what I demand to stand tall and take a stand. How to take and make obtainable pocket dreams in order to be a self-made king. My pockets full of dreams, I must cash in to engage and make positive success. My buddy and friend’s next kin always works and plays to win.

When challenged, my self-worth I will defend, keep my head to the sky, do more than try. If I fail, find a different or better way to live and conquer my hopes, aims, and dreams. When defeatist thoughts or attitudes get in my way, I will slay all negative obstacles. I will make the impossible possible, because I am strong, wise, and responsible. I will do more than try to never deny. Hard work and determination is on my side along with my humble pride. Success is what I seek to be good or great, never surrender or capitulate, bounce back when I make mistakes.

Just always participate when my life and livelihood is under attack in jeopardy or at stake. Lock it, never knock it, the obtainable dreams that live in our hearts, minds, and pockets, they possess go-juice and lightning. Fuel to blast off like a spaceship or rocket, undying energy from the sun or a wall outlet socket that propels my dreams into distances to replace what is wrong and make it right both day and night.

I must fight, fight, fight for the dreams in my pockets to come true and bear fruit to rise up from the ground and roots. For more than just a money or loot, I was born poor without nothing but the heavy dream in my pockets encourage me to work hard, strive, and be smart to become something special that can fly and soar. When life knocks me down, I immediately get up and come back for more. Dive into the core in order to navigate from being poor. Unafraid to journey in to the next level or walk through that open door.

Progressiveness is my purpose, and the message is what I give and send to you as long as we breathe air and the sky is blue. Always be true to you with a happy attitude, humble behavior, generous and kind that’s always in its prime, trustworthy, loyal, with moral principles are my day today, daily chores that I must never ignore. A good life with purpose for myself and others is what I am living for. As sure as lion’s roar and the morning tide runs in into the shore.

My pocket full of dreams is no longer a fantasy but has become my reality, not just for me but for all humanity to behold, emulate, witness, and see. What discipline, hard work with determination has done for me? Set my dreams free when it comes to poverty. I will never take a knee but seek, critique, and reach and not just preach. My pocket full of dreams has the aura and power of mystique to where the wheels of success are maneuvering in my sleep as it journeys upward consistently, majestically, to reach my potential and peek.

Wholesomely and unique, never weak, but inspires me to never go down to defeat; ultimately, I trust and believe what I dare to achieve. Those positive premonitions that I share and speak, because joy with happiness is mine to keep. Behold my pockets full of dreams derived from my mind, heart, and soul that always run hot and never cold. Big and bold, I work hard for my aims, dreams, and lifetime goals, the decent, healthy life that I initiate and choose is like an eternal tree or flower inside me that will always grow as long as I’m alive. The door of advancement, opportunity will never close.

    If You Ruled the World

If you ruled the world, if you could make the earth rotate and twirl, what is something positive that you would do for every man, woman, boy, and girl? If you would stick your finger in the ground and turn the whole world around, what would be considered righteous or out of bounds? What would be lifted up? And what would be cast down?

If you ruled the world and the earth was your oyster or pearl, and everything you would say was the law, from sea to shining sea, from shore to shore, your word could not be challenged or ignored; what would be your legacy (something you could leave behind for all to see) that would stand the test of time? Imagine if you had the power and the means to live out your earthly fantasies and dreams in a fairy-tale atmosphere in exotic scenes; would you be stuck-up, nasty, and mean? Or giving, generous, and charitable, be a part of the living? Or would self-centeredness, selfishness, and greed be your only vice and need?

If you could live out your fantasy and dream, what would be your national anthem and theme? If you could live your dreams, would you assist and help someone else to live out their hopes, goals, and ambitions (that could turn out to be a reality and not something they are just wishing)? Would you ignore the needs of the disadvantaged, sick, and poor? Would you outlaw war and help others to knock down education’s door? Would you build untold mansions for yourself or build thousands of hospitals for the needs of someone else?

If you had the means to live out your dreams, would you clean, sweep, scrub, and rebuild the ghettos and slums to make sure all could read, write, and do mathematics (to where no one would be considered illiterate, stupid, or dumb)? Everyone would have a decent place to live and sleep, where people would always have enough food to eat.

What about ecology? Would you help to clean up the land, air, beaches, oceans, and seas so we all could live a good, clean life and breathe nontoxic, pure, unpolluted air? Would you dare to care about whales, elephants, lions and bears or anyone besides yourself if you had an abundance of riches and wealth? What about hate, racism, and discrimination? Would you open up lines of communication to do something to change this devilish, ignorant, narrow-minded situation that has lasted and gone on and existed far too long? Would you correct this wrong and make it right, where intolerance and prejudice would be outlawed under the sun and God’s heavenly light? Would you create jobs and teach people skills so everyone could pay their bills to take care of their financial ills in order to fulfill their hopes and dreams?

If you had the power or means to stop drug addiction (where drug dealers would become fiction), and people would no longer be slain or killed by drugs, guns, or knives, because every human life is considered precious and dear, for it belongs to God—from the bottom of their feet to the tops of their head and to the center of their hearts—will you do your part? From the beginning to the start to create a special place that is real? An oasis where all men and women are accepted by their peers, where love for your fellow man is not looked at as funny or queer? Where mothers no longer are crying and sobbing hurtful tears (because premature death of their children is no longer a part of their fears)?

Grateful people who live in a world where no one any longer dwells on or thinks about suicide because they lost their inspiration and pride, they feel like they hate themselves and can no longer just go along for the ride if you rule the world and universe; would you always put God first, the living supreme ultimate infinite being who quenches our needs, hunger, and thirst? The one who gave the earth and all of us life and birth?

    Just for Today

Just for today (God willing each and every day), let me hold selfish ugliness at bay. Let me gladly humble myself to God and pray to be helpful and humble in every way. Let me use my mind to apply my intelligence with common sense. Let me be able to accept constructive criticism without taking on personal feelings of offense, like I’ve been unfairly called out, belittled, or lynched.

Just for today, let me push my pride aside to be able to follow and not always lead, if that is what will help me or others to achieve. Let me help any stranger in need do good deeds; help myself and others’ needs; plant humble, positive, Godly seeds. Let no man or woman be afraid, because with faith come brighter days. Let me bring peace, tranquil joy without fear. Speak the truth loud and clear. Put the divine words of God in every heart, mind, and ear.

Just for today, let me be able to shine without dulling someone else’s light. Let me smile if I can make someone’s day feel sunny and bright. Let me be a student of understanding and peace both day and night. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low.

The crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain in order to change what is wrong into right so the wings of justice can take flight.

Just for today, let me be able to heal; share a drink or a meal; not steal; be honest and real; always say what I feel; my purpose and part; never break hearts; be humble, caring, kind, intelligent, and smart; be able to finish what I start.

Just for today, let me never demand that others crawl, but stand tall; be there for others who feel weak and small.

Just for today, let me never just go along for the ride but always listen to the inner voice inside who fills me with hope and pride; who helps me to soar high and fly, touch the sky without clipping someone’s wings. Let me treat every woman or man like a queen or king. Look everyone in their eyes, never ever cheat, deceive, or lie. Let me never try but do or die (for the spirit will not be denied).

Let me gladly shake anyone’s hand and only see woman or man. Let me support the youth with wisdom, understanding, and truth. Let me look at a stranger and not feel danger but joy on their face without color, creed, religion or race but a fellow human saved by grace.

The loving feelings of God’s love and embrace should be felt everywhere and every place.

    My Eyes

My eyes, they never tell untruths or fiction; they shine, glow, and glisten; they tell many stories if you look, observe, and listen. They have seen big city shopping malls. They have seen mountains that are majestic and tall; cotton, wheat, and corn sprouting up from the soil; mystic, cascading waterfalls; girls playing basketball. My eyes have seen the darkness and the light, the dim and the bright, birds taking flight, young boys flying kites, boxers fighting fights.

I thank God for my sight that feels so right that keeps my brain tight. My eyes are never surprised, because they look beyond the surface but deep inside. My eyes have seen ladybugs, grasshoppers, spiders, and dragonflies. God blessed my eyes to witness tuxedos, gowns, and bowties. My eyes have seen today’s mysteries and years ago history. My eyes, if you look closely, you can see life’s stories, highs, lows, and children grow; lives being destroyed, then taken into tow.

My happiness and joy, bad little girls and good little boys; pain and sorrow; people who were here today, then gone tomorrow. My eyes have seen many things—poor boys who turned out to be kings; the summer, autumn, winter and spring; the birds fly and sing; churches where the bells ring; birth and death, old and new, rock and roll, jazz, hip-hop, classical, and the blues too. They have seen large building tools, the first day of school, peace and war, criminals fighting and shooting it out with the law.

My eyes are the mirrors of my soul; they have seen silver, diamonds, and gold; hurricanes that left their toll; dictators taking control; twisters that were bold; and lover’s taking strolls. My eyes have seen Broadway plays, famous actors on stage, movies, live concerts, weddings and funerals, rivers and oceans, cars, ships, and airplanes…so many different things like flowers, grass and trees, the flight of the bumblebees.

They have seen love and hate, young couples on their first dates, different countries, cities, and states, people who were ignorant, shallow, but yet great. My eyes have seen and witnessed mountains, valleys, hills, and waterfalls; women wearing hats, gasoline and oil; dogs and cats. They have seen the moon, stars, and the sun; submarines, tanks, bullets and guns. My eyes have seen stars fall down from the sky; people who tell jokes and lies; people who give up on life or don’t try to touch the sky. They have gazed upon deer, groundhogs and rabbits having fun; and bears on the run; pretty girls with curls; beautiful things; war and peace; fine restaurants where people dine and eat; good, bad, happy, and sad; young boys who grew up to be dads.

My eyes provide sight for my brains; they have seen choo-choo trains. My eyes, they never lie; my eyes sometimes hurt and cry when telling someone special who died goodbye. My eyes have seen cake, cookies, and apple pies. My eyes derived from the beauty inside; but far more than anything, they have witnessed the sun set and rise. I thank God for my working beautiful eyes.

    What Would You Do?

If you knew this was your last day on earth

What would you do? Who would you call?

Who would you want to see?

If you knew today was your dying day

Is there anyone you would want to say goodbye to?

If you knew the day and the hour that you’re going to meet

    Your higher power,

    What would you do?

Let’s live life one day at a time, and try to find

Some kind of peace of mind

And remember to be gentle and kind

To everyone we meet and to whom we speak

The strong, rich, poor and the weak

When you woke up this morning and you knew it’s your last…

    The day you would pass

    What would you do differently?

Life is a journey, take time to live and enjoy

If you knew today is all there is with no tomorrow

    What would you think?

Would you be mad or sad; happy or glad; what about confused?

    Would you go out and use drugs or get plenty of hugs;

Spend a lot of money because it’s your last day?

Would you care who you hurt or slay?

Baby comes out the womb dead

Not everyone lives to be gracious and old

    Would you sell your soul?

    Would you be spiteful, have sex or humiliate;

Go on a last date, point fingers at people you hate?

    Would you do good or evil; would you stay home or go out;

Or go to church, no doubt?

Is there anyone you want to thank?

Or would you think of robbing a bank?

Who would you forgive, or who would you want to forgive you?

The sun rises, and the sun sets

When your sun sets, where do you go?

    Do you know? Do you want people to cry when you die;

Or rejoice, be happy and laugh; and think or talk

About the beautiful moments and times, you shared in the past?

What would you say to family and friends

If you knew this were the last day and the end?

Will they celebrate your living, or dwell on your death?

How do you want to be remembered?

Where do you go when you’re laid to rest

And no longer a part of this earthly mess?

    What will you do?

    Where do we go?

    Do you know?

    More

My love will always be yours as long as bears, eagles, and lobsters have claws; furniture has doors; rowboats have oars; true love is a just cause that I gladly want and beg for more. As long as people experience love, peace, and war; as long as crocodiles have jaws; as sure as lions roar; and in the ghetto most of its inhabitants are poor, my life without you would be nonexistent and a bore.

I love you to your sweet core and will always want more. There is one thing in this world that is for sure. You are the love of my life, the one that I will always adore. I want more of you than what you give, for as long as we both shall live. Let me be your bridge to joy; good times over troubled waters; and (God willing) someday we will have and produce sons and daughters. Let me share your soul so true love can take full control until we both grow tired, frail, and old. As long as the sun shines (and people drink wine), I want more of our love, joy, and time to share with you; genuine feelings of truth, happiness, and peace of mind where two people’s hearts become one and happily live together under the moon, stars, and the sun; working, laughing, sweating together to get the job done (until we are gray, and old, and no longer young); but along the way, always finding the time to play, having pleasure and having fun.

No matter what we have to endure or overcome, I want more of your smiles and kisses; for I will always be there to comfort you, understand, and listen to your hopes, dreams, wishes, and desires; because my love for you will never grow weary or tired. Give me more of your sweet love, your body’s lust, and trust that I will never let it deteriorate or rust and will never fail, take for granted, or dishonor until we both return back to the dirt and dust. I will always be your love slave and friend, someone that you can always count on and depend, because the love that we share will never end. For it is not only sacred but rare when two people treat each other fair, do more than love and care, but dare to commit their lives to each other as long as we both breathe air.

I want more of you…more than a lot; every last drop, until our two hearts fizzle out and stop (or until the rich no longer sail yachts and you are no longer considered a living, beautiful fox. The sad day that your precious body dies, decays, and rots, even then I will still want more, because you are the one that I am living for. You take my mind and body on a world tour that opens the door to the candy store where I always get quality (with no apology) and more. As long as the ocean runs to the edge of the shore, loving you is easy and never a chore, the way you give me so much more.

I will forever love you to the core; for that is the law, something good; you always want more; that gives you wings to fly and soar. As sure as lions roar, when it comes down to you, I will knock down life’s door just to get more; for your love is worth living and dying for. Our mature love that is well-baked and not raw, I will always crave for more! More! More! The sweetness of true love that we can’t ignore…give me more (galore for sure)! The essence of our sacred love is what I live for, eternally hold onto, and will forever adore (as long as we both shall live). True love is a gift that I will always give. I will always want more of you because of the sweet, sweet things you say, display, and do. I will always be eternally loyal, committed, and dedicated to you.

    Music

Music is lovely and divine, food for the mind; on a cold, rainy day, it can be better than sunshine. Music is an institution, a cultural revolution, a worldwide contribution of love, harmony, and goodwill. Music can make time stand still; it is a pleasure and a thrill. It is the cure for the sick and ill, because music will never harm, hurt, or kill.

Music is a gift from God; a living entity that can embrace and stimulate the soul, mind, and heart. It can reproduce feelings of sadness, good times, and joy; remind us when we were young girls and boys, shy and coy, when the world was our toy. Music can make us think about long ago friends who were in our lives way back when. Music is like a medical doctor who is always on duty or call; it can break down racist, biased prejudice, discriminating walls. The sweet sound of music is the equalizer that makes them all fall, because music is here for the pleasure and comfort of us all.

Music has the power to move, groove, and soothe the savage beast. It is so cool, it can bring joy, love, and peace, make us dance, bring on romance, put our minds in a trance, give us the nerve to give love just one more chance. Marriage and babies have come about due to music, because it fuses and soothes but never abuses. Music is associated with celebration, heartbreak, temptation, and obligation to someone or something special that we love and adore and, to this day, still want more.

Music makes depression and stress leave and go on tour to far away shores and never come back anymore. Music is a surreal sound of beauty that cannot be ignored. It has the power to set our mood, entice us like good sex, wine, or food. Music can penetrate the mind, body, and soul; it warms us and never leaves us cold; music can be sensitive, nonchalant, or bold. From jazz, classical, country, hip-hop or rock and roll, music has the power to take absolute control, hold us, capture us, and never let us go. Whether it is fast, moderate, or slow, music can plant and grow humble, eternal, enduring seed. Music helps to take away the pain and make our living sane.

Music can inspire, set the mind and body on fire while touching our desires. The power of music can make us reminisce about a certain event or a long ago friend or lover or a special kiss that we miss that we have not experienced in years. It can bring back memories of yesteryears, tears, and fears of something or someone that we once held dear. Music can dictate what our minds and bodies do, who we choose to make love to. Just as sure as the sky is blue, music is true. It can make our hearts race, set a pace. Make us think of certain people or a special place; a fragrance or taste that we used to adore and embrace; make us dress up, fix up our face to go out, and chase a lovely queen or a charming ace.

Music can make us cry, tell lies, deflate or rise; gives us wings to fly, because music encourages us to aim high, never say die, and always keep our heads to the sky. Music is a treat that is unique and sweet that nothing else in this world could ever compete…with its lyrics, sounds, and beats that make our bodies sway as we pat our feet. Music is artistic, intellectual, heavy, and deep. Music puts a swagger in our step and a smile in our eyes. From the spirit is the source from which it derives; it can make our day complete, our lives sweet; make us smile and say hello to everyone we meet; then rocks us to sleep with a sweet lullaby.

Music is the reason why birds come down from the sky to sing soul music, happy music… We will always use it as a love potion that gets our partner open to love and devotion, because music is the tool that fuels love and emotion, meditation, conversation, participation. Because music is such a beautiful sensation that is due recognition, applaud with appreciation.

    Peace Breeds Paradise

Peace breeds paradise. Peace lets it circulate in the wind and air, lets every country and nation treat everyone equal and fair! Imagine our world at peace, soldiers won’t have to die; mothers won’t have to cry; sweethearts will no longer have to mourn, grieve, and say goodbye. Peace takes away hurt and pain; peace should fall down from the heavens like pouring rain. Peace should be sought (and seek) by everyone we know and meet. Peace is the enemy of evil beasts who hate to see God-given peace. Peace should be the world’s goal and aim. Peace from the heavens is from whence it came. Peace breeds paradise, a good life, a great husband, or an outstanding wife whose purpose is to bring love, joy, happiness. Put peace in our lives.

Paradise is a Godly place for the whole human race; no crime, wickedness or vice. Peace has natural riches untold; more sacred than diamonds or gold. Let there be peace on Earth, peace at home, peace at work; peace at play every night and day; peace in our cities and towns; peace should have no limits or bounds. Peace in our neighborhood and streets; let peace be ours to keep; peace to pay our bills; peace of mind; peace in our time.

Let peace radiate and shine; peace to know we are not sick or ill, but feeling healthy and strong. There is always peace after a storm; peace rights what was wrong. Peace is born in the early morning dawn; may peace never be gone. Peace in our families for no charge or fee; let peace always be free. Peace is beautiful feelings of serene tranquility, thankful that we have peace. Peace breeds joy when all the world never ever has to tear down or destroy. Peace means no wars; peace should never be ignored.

Let peace flow from shore to shore; without peace, the world will be no more. Let peace in our life sit and stay each and every day. Peace should never be deferred or be just a passing word that we heard. Peace is humble, gentle, and soft like a butterfly or baby bird. Peace is unique, meek, and sweet. Peace is motivating, celebrating, all about communicating—a joyous way to live life. Peace…let it grow and increase; never stop or cease, but an everyday feast. Peace thrives on honesty.

With truth, let us pass on peace to our children and youth. Peace should never be bought, but taught. Peace should be more than just a thought. Let there be peace in our time; no more wars, fighting; no more vice or crime. Peace is divine, a gift for
