At th...view moreJennifer Gillyard was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia and received a Masters of Science in Social Work from Columbia University. At the age of 27, Jennifer is pursuing a Masters of Divinity at Wesley Theological Seminary. Jennifer plans to use her education to practice Social Work internationally and conduct research in Ecumenism and Interreligious Dialogue.
Jennifer began writing poetry as a child at the age of 12 years old and wanted to write this book to share her journey as a poet, woman, and lifelong child at heart. Other than poetry, Jennifer is passionate about serving children and families in disadvantaged communities. She is a licensed minister pursuing ordination in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She volunteers her time with her church Hunter Memorial AME, Habitat for Humanity, and the Congressional Black Caucus. In Jennifer's spare time, she enjoys travelling, spending time with friends, watching the WE Channel or WWE Wrestling and cheering for UVA and Philadelphia sports teams.
