About this ebook

This book was conceived out of the author's innate curiosity concerning various biblical teachings and their interpreted discrepancies and is divided into three sections: 1. This section deals with three individual and teachable scenarios where without really knowing that our God is just, loving, and merciful, Satan could deceive us into believing just the opposite. 2. This section deals with various misnomers found in the Word of God. 3. In this section, we show the authentication of the Word of God through facts, history and current events. And lastly, "A Layman's Point of View" of the Ten Commandments and the Lord's Prayer. If you want to have your faith in God and His Word strengthened, then this BOOK IS A MUST READ FOR YOU.

    Preface

The reason for my writing this book is twofold:

    (1) Now, I’d been reading the Bible through, from Genesis to Revelations for several years. My purpose for doing this was to feed my spirit in order to become closer to God and to strengthen my faith and relationship with Him. However, I was finding out that the opposite was taking place. The reason being, because some of the things I was reading didn’t make sense to me, frightened and/or confused me, and appeared—in some cases—to be contradictory. This didn’t stop me from reading the Bible though, because while I didn’t understand all of what I was reading, I did trust God. So I would pray the prayer in Mark 9:24, I believe, help my unbelief, and continue reading, knowing that if I did God would bless me with the answers/information I was seeking. Incidentally, I might add that although I was reading my devotional and the scriptures daily, I was squeezing them in where convenient and not really giving them quality time.

    (2) A few years ago, I noticed that when I first woke up, I felt empty inside. After my day progressed, the emptiness subsided, and many a nights, I had trouble falling asleep as well. This greatly alarmed me, because God had been so good to me all of my life. In fact, I often asked Him, WHY ME, Oh GOD, because I felt so unworthy, so undeserving of all His many blessings.

For the most part of my adult life, along with caring for my late mother and my family, I would attempt to serve God through the sharing of His Love and blessings, by being involved in church/prison ministries, visiting/assisting various sick and shut-ins. Working diligently in the church and sharing my gifts/talents whenever and wherever I could, and still I was having sleepless night and empty mornings.

Well, one day it was brought to my attention that watching TV hours before bedtime could trigger sleepless nights. Now, this was not what I wanted to hear because I really had only one vice: that old one-eyed monster, the TV. For the most part, when everything was done that needed to be done for the day, I would routinely, after dinner, spend HOURS in front of that thing before retiring for the night.

The Holy Spirit impressed upon me that whether the information I had received was correct (regarding my sleepless nights) or not, it was good advice for two reasons:

    (A) Turning off the TV and all electronic devices would free my mind up from all that earthly junk and nonsense, (B) Thus allowing me more time to concentrate on Heavenly things, as well as spend more time with God in His Word. In fact, if truth be told, I was spending too much time watching TV anyway.

So several hours or so before bedtime. I would turn off the TV and devote my time to God and His Word. I felt too, that if I shared my findings with others that not only would I be gaining a closer walk with God, but I could possibly help others to do the same. Hence the writing of this book.

My book starts off with my sharing three stories/subjects in the Bible that greatly troubled me. I wanted to make sure that Satan would not be able to use them to cause me to question God’s Word and/or Him. So I decided with the help of the Holy Spirit to search deeper, precept upon precept, line upon line, here a little and there a little (Isa. 28:10).

I am sharing my findings of these stories/subjects with you hoping that it will increase your faith as it has done mine. After which, I will deal with various subjects on a True and False basis, Bible Authentications, and end with Layman’s interpretation/point of view of the TEN COMMANDMENTS and the LORD’S PRAYER.

P.S. I found that after a while, I was becoming addicted to my search of the scriptures and began to have little to no interest in turning on that old ONE-EYED MONSTER.

    HALLELUJAH, PRAISE THE LORD!

What Are Some of the Tragic Stories in the Old Testament Saying to Us?

Two Similar Tragic Stories in the Bible:

I came across two stories in the Bible that deeply disturbed me. They are in Judges 19 and Genesis 19. I will give you a brief synopsis of both of them. However, it would be good for you to read the entire stories for yourself.

    (1)

The Levite and the Concubine (Judges 19)

This tragic story is about a Levite and his concubine who, while staying overnight in Gilead, were confronted by some men of the city who wanted to have sex with the Levite (v. 22). The master of the house offered his daughter, a maiden, and the Levite’s concubine to the men. However, for some reason, the Levite gave them his concubine instead who they raped and abused all night until morning (v. 25). The Levite found her lying dead in the door of the house the next morning (vs. 27, 28).

    (2)

Lot, Sodom, and Gomorrah (Genesis 19)

In this story, there were two male angels visiting Lot (v.1). Some men of the city surrounded the house, demanding to have sex with the men (vs. 4, 5). In this case, however, Lot offered them his two virgin daughters instead (vs. 8).

The men in these two stories were, supposedly, God-fearing men. Interestingly enough though, the master of the house’s daughter and Lot’s two daughters were virgins (Judges 19:24 and Gen. 19:8), and the Levite’s concubine had been unfaithful to her husband (Judges 19:2). Now, between the two stories, even though the master of the house, the Levite, and Lot, all were willing to sacrifice their daughters along with the concubine, only the concubine was given to the men and the daughters were not harmed.

It could be perceived that the reason the concubine came to such a horrible end was because, according to the Bible, we all must reap what we sow (Gal. 6:7). I am in no way judging or condemning the concubine, because only
