About this ebook
As King Hiram of old, I have always been a lover of David. David was a warrior king of Israel, and was referred to by God as a "man after mine own heart." David's shield and buckler protected him from attack from the enemy. I pray the poems God has given me provide similar protection for the readers of these poems.

David's Shield And Buckler - Jim Newnam
Faith, Hope, and Charity
From the Bible, God’s Inspired Holy Word, we see,
Of God’s most cherished possessions, there abideth three.
Faith, Hope, and Charity are much to be treasured;
Offered to God’s children, their value cannot be measured.
All three shed Holy Ghost Light to a dimly lit soul;
They make the saint of God rich with wealth untold.
Charity is the greatest of the three, the Bible doth say;
So God’s Love will be my focus as I seek the others along the way.
God’s perfect fulfillment is contained in His Love;
Faith and Hope are important, but Charity woos the Heavenly Dove.
Everything the saint needs is in Charity contained;
It is God’s treasure trove of value, our source of great gain.
Charity never faileth; Charity suffereth long, and is kind;
Charity envieth not; if we have not Charity, we are blind.
Charity doth not behave itself unseemly; Charity seeketh not her own;
Charity rejoiceth in the truth because it comes from God’s throne.
Faith, Hope, and Charity are my heart’s desire;
These are God’s three precious gifts; my soul’s require.
We will walk in the Spirit, if we have these three;
So let us deny our flesh, and seek after Faith, Hope, and, most of all, Charity.
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
(Psalm 51:7)
The six-pointed Star of David is the symbol of the hyssop blossom. I have adopted the Star of David as an emblem of God’s goodness and salvation.
Nothing More
Many temptations my vanity affords me each day;
The lust of the eyes and the pride of life can cause my feet to stray.
But only the Holy Spirit supplies my real need; I am satisfied with His store;
God has my provision—I want all that, and nothing more.
Beautiful homes and new cars I see wherever I drive,
Many people living in prosperity and never having to strive.
King David saw all the wicked kings about him, enjoying wealth galore;
God showed Him earthly riches are all they would receive—all that, and nothing more.
God blessed King Solomon with wealth untold and wisdom above all others.
He had all life could offer: many servants, wives, and brothers,
Lands and fame; God withheld nothing his heart could adore;
Still his soul was vexed. Lord, give me only my pleasant food—all that, and nothing more.
Satan dangles a beautiful golden carrot before my face;
He assures me, if I can only reach it, all my sorrows will be erased.
Jesus said, If you suffer with Me, you will also reign with Me, My heart they tore.
I say, Yes, Lord, I will bear my cross—I want all that, and nothing more.
