About this ebook

This is an inspirational book that will motivate you to listen to God through the prompting of His Holy Spirit. It shows the reader the awesome power of the third person of the Godhead. It also talks about the importance of relationships-the relationship we should have with God and the relationship we should have with each other. It acknowledges how these relationships developed the maturity and character of the author over time and eventually molded him into a vessel that the Lord could use to accomplish His will according to His purpose. This book encourages you to consider God as a vital necessity in your life and to put your total trust in Him. And by listening to that still inner voice inside you which is the Holy Spirit you will get comfort, direction, find peace, and hear the truth. And the truth shall set you free from all those things which have kept you in bondage. The author reveals how listening, heeding, and responding to the Holy Spirit have positively impacted his life, and the same can happen to you.

This book is dedicated to my wife Delores who has motivated me to pursue my passion of writing so that I could be all that I could be. She has been a positive force in my life who could always find various ways of bringing out the best in me. For this I am forever grateful.

    Preface

For the longest time I said that I wanted to write a book, and I thought I had a book or two in me. People who knew my skills and believed in me would encourage me from time to time, and I would nod my head in agreement; but the impetus for me to get started was just not there.

But then something happened. Deep down inside of me I felt something gnawing at me. This feeling prompted me to get in front of a mirror and look at myself, not just on the outside, but also on the inside, way deeper than anyone could ever see. I saw a sad, unfulfilled man on the outside but a man that wanted to be happy and fulfilled on the inside. I saw a man that wanted to shape his own destiny. I saw a man that was tired of hearing what other people thought he should be and what he should do. I saw a man who, if he didn’t start to design his own life and agenda, would become a part of someone else’s agenda. And if I permitted that to happen, it would be a good possibility that I would die unfulfilled and not even know who I was. That would be more than unfortunate; that would be a tragedy.

So I started listening to the still inner voice within me that spoke positive affirmations. It told me that I didn’t have to be poor, lacking or without. It told me that I was uniquely handcrafted by God and that I was special. It told me because I believed in Jesus Christ, God the Father’s supreme love offering to us, and because I made Jesus Lord of my life I had a tremendous inheritance which went far beyond earthly riches, because all believers begin their new existence as new creatures in Christ. And being in Christ we can accomplish anything. Because of this, I started viewing myself differently. Gradually I got to the point where I could like myself again. My self-esteem was elevated, and I began to feel like I was worthy—not because of what some person said but because of how God viewed me. My confidence level grew. It was then that I knew without a doubt that the still inner voice I was hearing was from the Holy Spirit that God put inside of me. Reflecting on the Bible, it is written that Jesus said to His disciples that He was leaving them, but He would leave them with a Comforter—one who would lead them to truth. And this was the Holy Spirit. Through my life experiences which I affectionately like to call life seminars I have learned to listen to the Holy Spirit’s counsel, guidance, and chastening, as well as His encouragement, inspiration, and edification. It has a way of raising a flag if I need to be aware of something, often giving me a knot in my stomach if something isn’t right or conversely illuminating a light bulb in my head when the truth has been revealed to me.

Well, I finally realized my potential and took a leap of faith. I finally got my engine started. I’ve written two books to date and this is my third. And the exciting thing is that God has had His hand in each one. I feel it in my spirit.

God once said, My grace is sufficient for your needs. And when you think about it, it’s true; because if we repent, believe in His Son Jesus Christ and have made Him Lord of our lives, we are in Him, and He is in us. This is because Jesus is at the heart of God’s grace. Someone once described God’s grace as God’s Riches at Christ’s Expense. When you observe God’s Word (hear, receive, love, and obey it) you will start to go through a spiritual transformation. You will make Jesus your standard bearer and your goal will be to be more and more Christlike. None of us will ever attain the full stature of Christ in our lifetime, but we will become better people in the process.

Anything that happens God has allowed it. And it is for His own purposes. So when you go through trials and temptations it is an opportunity to prove your faith. In James 1:2–4, it says that when you go through these trials and temptations it is so your steadfastness, endurance, and patience can be developed to the point where you as a people can be perfect (complete) and without blemish. This is so God can use you to accomplish His will (without you coming back void) according to His purpose (Hebrews 10:36; Isaiah 55:11). And in the end, you’ll be closer to God and hopefully will know Him more intimately. To accomplish this, you need to trust God implicitly and be ready to yield to and say yes to the Holy Spirit.
