A Journey Toward Home - Bobby Lee Favors
Chapter 1
Being Thankful Upfront
I am so thankful that I now understand that stanza in the song Amazing Grace, that goes through many dangers, toils, and snare, I have already come.
There have been many snares and toils in my life. God and life have been good to me, and there are no regrets in my heart. Peace, love, and forgiveness flow deep in my soul toward all the people’s path that I have come across. Some have loved me, used me, and hurt me to the core of my being. Some have even despised me because I stand up for the gospel of Christ. Some have even looked down on me and told me that I am or I was too religious. Well, if you know my story, you would understand my position on loving Christ and the gospel. I am so, so thankful for that.
It has been said, If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.
Well, I stand for truth and love. However, saying that can open the door to cause one to question the following: What is truth? What is the measuring stick or rule for what love is? I believe that being thankful has so much to do with the depth of what is truth and real love. When you are not walking or living in either of the two (love and truth), it may become hard for you to be thankful and grateful to God for all that is in your life at the present.
So I guess that it would be only proper or right to begin to breakdown what it really means to be thankful. I encourage you to read on, for you are about to be floored.
To be thankful or having a thankful spirit, here is an example:
Today, you choose. Whichever you choose will affect your tomorrow. I grew up in an environment where we did not hear the words thank you
a lot among our family for acts of kindness or things done for us. My beginnings were very humble growing up in a family with very little, so being thankful was not at the forefront of our thinking down in deep South Georgia. My parents tried to do the best they could to give us the basic necessities
