About this ebook

This book was written with the serious Christian in mind. Have you ever envied the fellowship and confidence that the apostles had with the Father and with Christ? The motivating factor for this book is my belief that I am not the only Christian who has experienced times of dryness and being disconnected from the Lord and wondered why. This book is for serious Christians who are not satisfied with an anemic, listless, weak, and seemingly solitary fellowship with God. It is my hope that through this book, In Him Is No Darkness at All, insights into behaviors that can unknowingly cause broken fellowship with the Father and with Christ will be revealed.

God's love is steadfast and never changing. This book's purpose is to reveal vital truths to having an exciting and fulfilling fellowship with God and to expose the behaviors that are hindrances to obtaining it.

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

    (1 John 1:5 KJV)

    Introduction

    Dear Reader:

It is my hope that through this book, I will be able to share truths with you that have been a blessing to me, primarily from the Epistle of 1 John. It is my belief that these truths are vital to every believer, and my prayer is that they will bless your life also.

One day, as I was reading John’s First Epistle, the following scriptures captured my attention:

³That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. ⁴And these things write we unto you that your joy may be full. (1 John 1:3–4 KJV)

These verses were speaking directly to me! It was not the first time that I had read them, and yet it was as though it was the very first time. As I was reading, I sensed that I was hearing also. What I heard was you don’t have to stress, struggle, and strain in order to have the same fellowship and fullness of joy with the Father and with Jesus Christ that the Apostle John enjoyed.

I knew that the things of God cannot be earned nor are they performance-based; so how can a Christian that loves the Lord find themselves in a substandard fellowship with God? I believe that these truths that we will be exploring will help the reader to become mindful of the behaviors that can cause broken or anemic fellowship.

I am convinced that we, the believers in the twenty-first century, should be experiencing the same kind of fellowship, the same spirit of faith, the same demonstration of power, and the same obedience to Christ that the first believers did.

The faith and fellowship that the early believers enjoyed should be normal for the believer and not an abnormality. If we are not experiencing this fellowship, something is wrong. His grace is still available to us in our weaknesses. The Apostle John stated that his purpose for writing the epistle was for believers to be able to experience this same kind of fellowship that he enjoyed. I’m using the term same kind because if we were enjoying the same kind of fellowship, I believe that we would also see the same kind of results.

The Apostle John shared how to obtain this fellowship with believers in his day, and his letter is still sharing the same with us today. I believe his first epistle reveals to us the answer to the fellowship problem.

My motivating factor for writing this book is the belief that I am not the only one that has a longing for this same kind of fellowship; I believe that it is the hearts cry of believers today. Although 1 John 1:3–4 was the inspiration that caused me to actively seek to understand what made their fellowship with the Father and with Christ successful, it is verses 5 and 6 which, I believe, contains the foundational vital truths to actually obtaining it.

⁵This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. ⁶If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth. (1 John 1:5–6, KJV)

Our faith is not based upon having a laundry list outlining all of the things that we cannot do. Our faith is in a revelation of who God, our Father and Jesus Christ, our Lord are. It is impossible for us to have fellowship with the Father, without faith in who Christ is to us.

⁹Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: ¹⁰That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; ¹¹And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9–11 KJV)

Therefore Vital Truths Numbers 1–3 will be the foundational truths that all other truths will be built upon.

Vital Truth Number 1: Jesus Christ is Lord.

Vital Truth Number 2: God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

Vital Truth Number 3: If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in darkness,we lie, and do not the truth:

As you continue to read, it is important that you read the scriptures that are included also; because it is God’s Words (Christ is the Word) and not my words; that will renew your mind and build your faith in God and Christ.

It is my hope that this book will aid you in your own pursuit to obtain this God-ordained fellowship and empower you to live in the joy and light of God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
