About this ebook

Faith is my writing this book and seeing 1000s of people come to faith in Jesus Christ; and making Him their Savior and Lord. My expectations are so engrafted in my spirit that no one can convince me otherwise.

This book is my faith-seed in the life of whosoever would read it; and I am believing God for a great harvest. It is a collection of biblical stories and events highlighting the faith of individuals and showing its efficacy in a given situation. The faith of the Canaanite woman; The man suffering with palsy; The woman with the issue of blood; The lame man who had faith to be healed; The faith of Abraham, Noah, Moses and Elijah; About Little faith; No faith; Great faith; and more.

This book has been written with you in mind to help you grow in faith and understanding of the Word of God. Jesus said in Matthew 13:19, If you do not understand what you hear (or read), the wicked one comes and snatches away that which was sown in your heart. Hosea 4:6 says, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

Yes, Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God; and this book helps you to understand what you hear and read from the Word of God.

Use this book to plant a faith seed in someones life, and watch God produce a harvest that they are able to share with others to the glory of the Lord.

SERMONS FROM THE WORD OF GOD AND MORE

    Dedication

This book is dedicated to all the people who are seeking God for the healing of their body. All the passages of scripture that are listed in these pages will help to build their faith and remind them that God loves them and wants to see them well.

The bible says in Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

This book is particularly dedicated to those who have not received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and would like to make that decision today.

The bible says in John 3:16-17:

"¹⁶For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

¹⁷For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."

    Romans 10:9-10 also says:

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

¹⁰For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

    Scriptures

    The Measure of Faith

    Romans 12:3

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

    The Proportion of Faith

    Romans 12:6

    Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

    The Power of Faith

    Galatians 5:6

For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing,

nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

    The Advent of Faith

    Galatians 3:23

But before faith came, we were kept under the law,

shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

    Romans 10:17

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

    Dead Faith

    James 2:26

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

    Faith and the Just

    Habakkuk 2:4

Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him:

but the just shall live by his faith.

    Romans 1:17

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith:

as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

    Matthew 21:18-22

Doubt is the enemy of Faith

    WHAT IS FAITH?

If you ask the average person what Faith is, they may give you a number of different answers, such as: ‘Belief in God’; or ‘A religious Belief’; Trusting in someone or something.

But when we examine what God says about faith, we see faith in a different light. We see Faith as never taking a step backwards but always going forward to accept the challenge knowing that God exists and will be there to encourage, strengthen and deliver a reward of victory.

There is a saying, Where there is smoke there is fire; even so, where there is faith, be certain that doubt is not very far away. Doubt is the enemy of Faith, and while your faith may seem to have some movements, doubt will prevent it from going anywhere. Doubt creeps but Faith leaps. Faith is belief put into action and powered by Love. Galatians 5:6 says that Faith worketh by Love. Doubt on the other hand will leave you fruitless and powerless. Believe and you will receive; doubt and you will stay without.

The Bible has the perfect definition of Faith. Hebrews Chapter 11 verses 1-3 paints a very broad picture of Faith whereby the human mind is stretched to the limit in an attempt to understand what cannot be understood by the finite mind. It shows Faith as a substance of the things we hope for. That statement alone requires deep thinking to truly grasp all that it is intended to reveal. And to complicate matters even more, it declares that it is the evidence of those things, even though we do not see them.

The picture allows the human to get a glimpse of the omnipotence of God in His creation; leaving no room to question his ability and power; but to believe that he is the ever present God; Creator of the world; who can be found but yet not seen. I want you to have a look at what the bible says about Faith.

    Hebrews Chapter 11 verses 1-3

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

²For by it the elders obtained a good report.

³Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

The word Faith comes from the Greek word ‘pistis’ meaning, the truthfulness of God; reliance upon Christ for salvation.’ Those are the principal uses of the word. There are other words that are associated with the word ‘pistisnamely: ‘belief, fidelity, believe.

There is another Greek word for ‘Faith’ and it is used in Matthew 6:30; 8:26; 14:31; 16:8; and Luke 12:28 where the writer speaks of ‘Little Faith’. The word used in these verses is ‘oligopistos’ meaning; no confidence (in Christ).

Now let us look at ‘Faith’ from a Greek perspective.

Faith (pistis) is therefore the truthfulness of God, assuring us that we can rely on Christ (with hopeful expectation) for Salvation and all the things he has for us; though we may not see the full manifestation of these things, we do see evidence of its reality in the believer; since it is Christ in us, the hope of glory.

Now that we have obtain some understanding about Faith through the Word of God, the bible goes on to say in Hebrews 11:6; "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

There are three significant points concerning Faith and our relationship with God that must be adhered to if we want to enjoy the benefits that Faith has to offer. Keep in mind that Jesus Christ is the Author and Finisher of our faith. (Hebrews 12:2)

    These points are as follows:

1 We cannot please God without Faith.

2 We must believe that He is; and

3 We must believe that He is a Rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

This is fundamental in our relationship with God; and the same goes when we look unto Jesus Christ. In John Chapter 14, verse 1, Jesus said, Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me. You must believe in order to receive; doubt and you will do without. Acts 16:31 says, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Faith and Believing must always be united in order to bring about a successful end.

When Jesus appeared to the disciples the second time, Thomas was present. Notice carefully what Jesus said to Thomas and you will surely agree that Faith and Belief must work together in order to receive a fruitful result.

John 20:27-29 says; Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

²⁸And Thomas answered and said unto him, My LORD and my God.

²⁹Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

In this instance, Jesus commanded Thomas to exercise faith by coming and believing.

In the other Gospels, the writers point out the presence of doubt in the midst of faith. Luke 24:40-43 says, And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.

⁴¹And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?

⁴²And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.

⁴³And he took it, and did eat before them.

Matthew was more explicit in mentioning the word ‘doubt.’ Matthew 28:16-17 says, Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

¹⁷And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

They all knew it was Jesus because he had instructed them beforehand to meet him at that particular place; so why did some doubt? This alone tells us that doubt is always near by and seeking an opportunity to contaminate your faith.

In Mark 5:35-36, Jesus was on his way to Jairus’ house where the ruler’s daughter lay sick, at the point of death. The bible says that while Jesus was yet speaking to the woman whom he had just healed from an issue of blood, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?

    Image9471.JPG

³⁶As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.

Jesus arrived at the ruler’s house, and taking her by the hand, he commanded her to rise; and the little girl rose from the dead.

We must believe if we want to grow in Faith. Let me say it another way. We must believe the Word of God if we want to grow in Faith. Romans 10:17 says, Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Remember, Jesus is the Word of God (Revelation 19:13; John 1:1 and 14); and He is the Author and Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2)

The more knowledge we have about the things of God, the more successful we will be; the more power we will have over our situations. The bible says in Hosea 4:6, For lack of knowledge, my people are destroyed. So we need this knowledge and for that reason, I would like to comment on three other scriptures to show their relevance to Faith.

    Consider James 1:5-8 which says,

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

⁶But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

⁷For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

    Again we see the importance of Faith when approaching God for your needs. If your faith is wavering, it reflects your character before all those who are present. On that note, let’s hear what the Word of God has to say about Wavering Faith. The bible says that if you vacillate in your thinking or in your faith, you are not a good candidate for receiving anything, especially from God. A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. (James 1:7-8) He is like a man who opposes himself in the way he thinks or acts. He is like a ‘crazy man.’ Such people are easy targets for the devil to manipulate. Listen to what 2 Timothy 2:24-26 says;

And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

    ²⁵In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves;
