This book, The Faith Giant Series, written by Ebby Bonsu, has been written to encourage perseverance in faith. Touching on the narratives of men and women who, through commitment to the Lord and perseverance in faith against all odds, did exploits for the Lord and His kingly rule over creation. The author seeks to inspire and provoke readers to do same in their journey of faith in this world.

These faith giants were and are mortal men and women like us who pressed on in spite of dungeon, fire, and sword. They, like all of us, were mourners here on earth. They poured out cries and tears and wrestled hard with sins and doubts, and fears as we do now. They have become faith giants because they relied on the Lord and ascribed their victorious narratives to His triumph and redemptive death.

Indeed, the saying is true that there is no saint without a past and there is no sinner without a future. The men and women whose narratives the author has reflected on were weaklings, indeed spiritual midgets, who, through persistent faith in the Lord, have become faith giants.

One has, by the grace of God, had access to the narratives of some great men and women who have made it in life in their respective stations of life. As one interacted with them, one came to the conclusion that most great men and women have humble beginnings. One could not agree more with the saying by Israelmore Ayivor: Every big castle was once started with a single block; despise no small beginnings. A little step taken every day builds up the hope of greater accomplishments. Do something every day. Difficult moments in life only serve to prepare for opportunities staring at you.

This must-read book will challenge you to persevere in faith to the ultimate goal in spite of the inevitable impediments that will be on the way. Today's faith giants were yesterday's faith midgets.

I have known Ebby closely for almost two decades; and throughout this period, we have shared some experiences on our lows and highs, aspirations, and desires. We have also worked on some projects together, and notable among them is the Michael Essien Foundation, a brainchild of Ebby.

Ebby's deep respect for people and remarkable honesty is phenomenal, but what is even more remarkable about him is his ability to expose his vulnerabilities and marry it with unwavering optimism in the face of challenges. My name is John Affaidzi Appiah, and I have committed almost all my life to empowering others and helping people to become better versions of themselves. I have known Ebby since our days at the University of Ghana, Legon, in Ghana over a decade ago. Even in those days, we both believed in God, and we had the faith that when we walk with God and we trust Him completely, He will order our steps and usher us into greatness and significance.

The Faith Giant Series—encapsulating faith giant stories, personalities, quotes, and awesomely inspirational thoughts, and pieces of writing—was incubated a little over two decades ago. My vivid recollection and reminiscences go back to December of 1994.

After I have read so many books of inspiration including, Think and Grow Rich both by Napoleon Hill and the revised version by Dennis Kimbro (Think and Grow Rich: A Black Choice: A Guide to Success for Black Americans); autobiographies; Christian books, chiefly the bible, I then began a long quest to unravel the deep and fundamental secrets of life, such as the essence of life and secrets regarding spiritual growth and material success. Most of these are focused on key words, such as faith, resilience, endurance, determination, tenacity, humility, mental strength, fortitude, grit, self-control, and discipline.

The Faith Giant Series was initially focused on Christian men and women, but gradually more and more examples representing success by faith have been incorporated. The basic rationale behind this book is to inspire and bring out the best in every reader. I strongly believe that there are vast untapped resources divinely deposited in every human being—spiritually, mentally, and physically.

The book depicts how most of these faith giants overcame even the most traumatic of circumstances in life to ultimately arrive at their spiritual and physical destination. I would like to react to some basic misconception about this book: the focus of this book is not necessarily on human beings or on personalities. It is basically meant to demonstrate the power of God in the lives of men and women as they reach out to receive from God by faith. The Faith Giant Series thus epitomizes God in partnership with man. The focus then is not on humanity but on how divinity works with humanity.

The basic theme underlying the Faith Giant Series can be explained this way: If a car is parked in a garage with a broken-down engine and without gasoline, does it cease to be a car? By no means! Likewise, life provides us with good and bad moments. Someone could be at the mountaintop with fresh air and ample sunshine but could find himself or herself groping around in the darkest of valleys with humid conditions another time. Regardless, the giant is still there within the person, and all that is necessary is for the person to hold fast to the dreams and visions by faith. Before long, there is fresh air and ample sunshine again, and the faith giant ultimately reaches his or her destiny.

This book is intended to inspire everyone, particularly the youth, that there is a giant in them that they can unleash even in their darkest moments.
