    Foreword

We can choose to respond to life's challenges in varying ways. Sometimes, we seek solutions from diverse sources. Saneliso Ncube-Muringani joins the ranks of leading Christian thinkers with a clarion call to action. The Four Reasons Why We Live encapsulates the fundamental basis for a successful life from a biblical perspective. It is essential as human beings to have guideposts, and this book generates conversations around God's laws as illustrated in the Ten Commandments. This book is beautiful, necessary, and vital, dispelling myths about the universality of God while reinforcing love and respect for God, love for self, love for the family, and love for the society.

    Introduction

Between the two dates of entering this earth and exiting it—lies life. What is life? What are we supposed to be doing between these two important dates of birth and death? When we die, life is represented by a hyphen between these two dates on our tombstones (T. D. Jakes). So does life really matter?

Yes, life does matter. What we do on earth, during our time here, is very critical to the second coming of our Lord Jesus. He will expand our hyphens and reward us according to our earthly contributions and how we spent our lives. In life, we spend two things: time and money. How are you spending them?

It had been a couple of years (2013–2014) since my life had not made sense at all. This time, it had finally hit the rock bottom. Financial hardships, separation from my husband, loneliness, working a part-time job, several job applications rejected, feeling depressed, angry, and being withdrawn from everyone was my lived reality. I began to wonder why I held a graduate degree that seemed useless—why I had over twenty years of work experience and couldn't find a job. Life was bitter, and I placed my burdens at his feet. It was at the peak of these trials and tribulations that l heard an inner voice say, Learn to trust in me with all your heart. At that very moment, my whole mind-set and thought process began to change. I fell down on my knees, tears streaming down my face; it was a moment of total surrender to God. No words came out of my mouth; I just placed my burdens at his feet. After a few minutes of being in this state of hopelessness, fear, and surrender, I began to feel God's presence engulfing me. There was a pivotal support in my spirit; my mind cleared, and I gathered the strength to get up and go to the mirror. I opened my eyes and saw a beautiful, successful future. I knew I had been touched and empowered by his invisible hand.

From that moment on, I chose to always surround myself with positive people and to always be in great life-changing environments. To stay empowered and motivated, I would listen to life coaches, people with great minds, gospel songs, and Bible messages. My favorite life coaches and people of value, like Anthony Robbins, Myles Munroe, Joel Osteen, Rick Warren, T. D. Jakes, Oprah Winfrey, Strive Masiyiwa, Michelle Obama, and Nelson Mandela (to name but a few), have inspired me and continue to do so in a way that has deeply impacted my life. I am also grateful for my parents who shaped my character growing up. They taught me the importance of putting God first, to love others, and the power of education. Through all these individuals' great teachings and life theories, I grasped a lot about finding one's purpose in life; however, I couldn't find a way
