About this ebook

This book has both revelation and expository knowledge of how a man can discover himself. The book is like a loaded gun which points at darkness so as to bring people to light. It spent its virtues on revealing the principles of self-discovery and identity. The revelation is so desperate in alleviating the pains and ordinariness of men by telling them who they are. When a man discovers himself, he becomes a supernatural man. The clothing of men with the jacket of revelation and accomplishment of great exploit is an opportunity that is reserved for men who have discovered themselves. It is only men who have discovered themselves that can take their place in God.

To all African heroes who, in one way or another, contributed immensely to the alleviation of the pains of Africans. To the statesmen of Africa who fought tooth and nail to bring independence to African states, I say, your labor is not forgotten.

    Preface

All the days of my life, I have watched people live unhappy, unfulfilled, and uncelebrated lives. I have heard stories of men who, out of frustration, have committed suicide. I have also heard about those who died like the biblical son of the prophet in 2 Kings 4. Several homes have been torn apart due to frustration and lack of fulfillment. As I come across these emotional traumas, which create a lot of dislocation, I discover that there is only one pronounced reason for these calamities: people who are visionless can’t live a properly established life. A man who has not discovered himself will always live the life of others and will end up in frustration. He will grope continuously in uncertainty as he suffers the intimidation of adverse and undeserved circumstances.

The reason there is so much slavery and bondage is because undiscovered men cannot enjoy the boldness of freedom. Those who cannot see themselves cannot also see through the maze of an uncertain future. Our future and destiny are meant to be discovered, harnessed, and define.

Men are not expected to fulfill the destiny they don’t see and imagine. People live in the darkness of completely masqueraded lives particularly in third world countries and Africa.

    Why Africans Are Religious

The reason Africans are very religious is because an undiscovered man will always hunt for solace in the supernatural. He seeks for security because he wants to be protected from the shadow of his life. Because Africans cannot consort with themselves, they seek for deities that they cannot find in themselves. They seek confidence in certain supreme beings because they are not sure of themselves. The God of every man lives in and with the man. Men cannot be separated from any God they serve; that is why when men choose their God. They choose their destinies and circumstances.

A man who has not discovered and identified himself cannot serve God very well because he must fellowship with God through his discovered self. Spirits trade with men who have not found themselves. A lost man doesn’t know when to say yes or no. He is out of touch with the realities of eternal existence.

The Ordeal of Black Africa and Other Third World Nations

I am conscious of the society where I was born because the influence of the society is on me. As a native man of Africa, I watch the intimidation of civilization and suffocation of a people who have need of so many things that they can’t produce. I hear the voices of slavery speak at the gates of African cities. You need to watch how Africans are treated with ridicule in the embassies of the so-called developed nations. People are told to their faces that they are running away from their countries in search of greener pastures. A man who left a problem in his home and ran away will one day come back and face the problem because home is home. Africans must stop running away from the challenges of their undeveloped societies. We must gird up our loins in self-discovery and deal with the serpent of under-development once and for all.

An undiscovered man will always desire to serve others, and because he doesn’t know himself, he lives the life of others. Men’s world dwells in them; therefore, we must develop our country from self-discovery and development. A continent that imports almost everything she needs is in servile bondage. It will be difficult to end the ordeal of a people who, in this millennium, depend on other people to survive. The slavery mindset that causes inferiority complex among Blacks is a manifest evidence of an identified life. A man who doesn’t know who he is, cannot do exploits. Africans are mired in religious activities because they look for deities that will live their lives for them. The kind of servile bondage that we find ourselves in is an archetype of the bondage of Israel in Egypt. The hunger and the drive that led to the penning down of the revelation of this book are from the heart of an adventurous man who is looking for God in himself. Our future is tied to what we will have to discover about ourselves, which include our gifting, talents, abilities, and limitation.

Since God will depend on what we know about ourselves to harness our future, a man who doesn’t know who he is will live the life of others. He will also give wrong definition to life itself. This book is calling all Africans to a life of self-discovery and identity. Africa is a rich continent where life and civilization started. We must not accept a future of hunger, hatred, war, and rumors of war that bedevil us as Africans. The continuous intimidation that portrays Africa as a continent that will always need help from other nations must not be tolerated. We can’t receive enough help from outside. It is therefore time to awaken the prophetic destiny of this rich continent and drive her into the wheel of civilization. The treasure of this continent is continuously being spoilt and mismanaged. Those who depend on what is produced from the soil of Africa to survive still treat Africans with disdain. The lamentation of this book must destroy the veil of our dark nights and wake us up to the realities of our person as we take responsibility for our future.

Understanding the Source of Slavery and Bondage

A man who doesn’t understand who he is and the abilities in him can accept the deformation of a mangled future and destiny, and that is the best way to define a slave. Those who undermine the voice of the ability in them will tarry long in the ordeal of servitude. A slave is one who is ignorant of himself and so accepts whatsoever that happens around him. It is possible to stay so long in slavery and lose the idea of freedom. When Israel was in Egypt, they sighed but were not ready. They didn’t have the boldness of independence and wanted to depend on slave masters to survive. Every man on earth has an ability which God deposited in him so as to enable him to live well. Such ability must be discovered and used to develop ourselves and our environments. While Israel was in Egypt, they built treasure cities for Pharaoh. They were strong people who used their strength and ability to serve in slavery. While in Egypt, they groped in the darkness of their veiled personalities. When Moses came to deliver them, the first thing he was advised to do was to remind them of who they were and the covenant they had with God. He also reminded them of the glory of their rich ancestry and the encounters of God with their ancestral fathers. He opened the eyes of who they were before they accepted his freedom campaign. When a man doesn’t know who he is and what he must become, he will accept any situation as his destiny.

The Lamentation of the Man in the Dark

There is always an unconscious urge in men to access their future. People always want to know what the future holds for them; that is why they go to soothsayers and diviners. For those who are in the church, they want to depend on prophets and seers to forge a hazy and uncertain future and destiny. But beware, for no prophet can know you enough. God expects us to live a life that we have discovered by ourselves. The first step to living a good and fulfilled life is taking it through self-discovery and identity. It is only a life that we have discovered that we can live. God wants us to seek him through ourselves. It is only the God that men discover through themselves that they can serve properly. The idea of separating God from ourselves is the error of those who are caught up in the spirit of religion.

A man who has not discovered himself is not yet alive. It is only through self-discovery and identity that the revelation of immortality can be ordained. The book in your hand is designed to assist you to declare your relevance. It is a help manual that wants to open your eyes to self-discovery and enhance your life. With the help of what is written in the pages of this book, you will discover yourself and fulfill your rich destiny.

    Introduction

When I graduated from the university and was posted to the then Bendel State of Nigeria as a Corps member, I came face-to-face with the reality of what I must use my life to do on earth. For the first time in my life, a sense of maturity began to creep into me. There was a need for me to determine what was the next thing to do after my NYSC program. I was faced with so many options from which I had to make my choice. As a devoted believer, I went to God severally in prayers but couldn’t get a direct answer. I then resorted to doing what I thought was right and befitting. The quest in me was to discover the perfect will of God for me. But what I did not know was that a man cannot discover the will of God for his life outside the discovery of himself. I couldn’t get answers to my questions because I sought the will of God outside myself. I waited for an audible voice to shout from the sky, but there was no such thing.

The Holy Ghost persuaded me to write this book because there are far too many people who still wait for voices here and there. Since there was no voice, I used my instinct and my ability/endowment to fish out a future. This encounter welcomed me to the spiritual/revelation pedestal where I wrote this book. A man cannot be more valuable than his encounters. The answers to my questions would have come faster if I had known that to seek God and the future, I must first seek myself. The pain and years of labor I invested in the search for the truth must help whosoever has this book and wants to engage in a journey of self-discovery.

Man is part of God; that is why man cannot be separated from God. God cannot be separated from the man that introduced Him to the earth. This is why He wears different faces and manifests in different ways. Men who introduced God to the earth introduced Him from themselves. Therefore, the act of seeking God must involve our relationship with a man. The breath of God in the nostril of man attracts God continuously to man. The best way to serve God is to serve Him from our discovered self.

The successful journey of every man’s life must start from the discovery of himself. When men are not discovered, they are lost. The encounter of God with man must start with self-discovery. It is only a discovered man that God can bless tangibly. God didn’t anoint David until David found himself. It is what we know about ourselves that determines the type of oil God will pour upon us. God and man call us what we call ourselves and until we know ourselves, God waits on us. There are many blessings that God has not given us because He waits for us to tell Him who we are. God
