Introduction
Over the last few years, it has been my great joy to see how Satisfied: A 90-Day Spiritual Journey Toward Food Freedom has blessed thousands of readers. Those who have taken the time to dive deeper into the messages have experienced transformation and healing, and the scriptural basis for the devotional has helped people overcome unhealthy relationships with food. One day at a time, people are seeing positive changes as they let go of damaging habits and mindsets and invite God to do what only He can do. He is truly an incredible God—our Friend; our Creator; and the ultimate Healer of hearts, minds, and bodies.
Romans 12:2 encourages us: Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind
(NIV). But what does it mean to be renewed? Is change something we can accomplish on our own? If you’ve already ready Satisfied, you know the answer to that question. No, we cannot change without God’s help. No, we cannot be renewed without His divine strength and blessing. As such, the core of the Satisfied method is about growing in closeness with the One who made us, drawing wisdom and power from the Source through regular study of Scripture and prayer.
Reading Scripture is a habit we should all develop, but if we only read a few verses and walk away, the habit doesn’t allow for the depth of connection with the Word that we really need. Joshua 1:8 tells us that when it comes to God’s Word, we ought to meditate on it day and night
(NIV). To meditate on Scripture gives us more opportunity to be changed by it. Perhaps you already have methods for meditating on the Word, but for me and many others, journaling helps us to fully take in and digest the messages of hope, inspiration, and transformation. When we write, we elaborate on what we’re reading and help ourselves connect with the ideas before us. We learn about ourselves in this process and what’s hindering us so we can fully hope to have these hindrances
