    INTRODUCTION

    (Thunder crashes.

(Colossal waves slam against the ironwood hull of the large frigate as it tosses and bobs on the roiling sea.

(ZIM DULBADRIM enters the opulent cabin. He holds up a flickering lantern. Sweat coats his rough, olive-hued skin. With his free hand, he fiddles at the ropes of his braided hair, each a waist-long cord the color of spider silk.)

(Zim watches, hypnotized, as the parchment burns in his hand.)

    Conflagration...the end of all things.

(Zim drops the parchment strips. The fire burns itself out and leaves only ash on the floor.)

(Zim unsheathes an unadorned iron dagger.)

"But appearances may be deceiving, says me. This little needle ended the life of the last king of Galduin. It ended a decades-long war with the Deacaiyeth Empire. Yet, who wielded this historical relic? Why, Benjamin the Fifth’s favorite whore, who’d just told the king that she carried his child, to which he laughed right in her face.

(Zim holds the dagger to the light.)

"History. The weight of empires and kingdoms. This whole ship is
