INTRODUCTION
[YLLATHYRA THE RADIANT, a tall, slender Elf in luminous white robes, descends the cream-colored marble staircase. Her flowing, golden tresses shimmer in the rays of midmorning sunlight that pour in through the windows of the grand entrance to the fabled Silver Tower. When she is an arm’s length away, Yllathyra places her hands together in a benevolent pose.]
"Avec’la, ain’ilro. Aun sep falthro da’hal."
[Yllathyra laughs.]
Ai, lah...tethiril, aun Finlarohal’thralas. Ethra dathal, Valliarannna?
[Slowly, Yllathyra’s eyes narrow. Her mouth sets into a tight frown.]
Finlarohal’thrlas. Est jal’othril? Aun valai.
[Yllathyra traceforms a glowing buckler and spear into her hands. She braces the shield and hefts the spear, ready to strike.]
Aun valai!
[Just before she is about to leap at you, Yllathyra pauses and blinks her eyes. Yllathyra scans the ceilings, the floors, and the walls.]
Fa apprathelith Ald Aelvish?
[Yllathyra’s voice adopts a deep, guttural resonance.]
Ach krazdrakk dul karza Dwarf varroshokk?
[Yllathyra’s voice settles into the Common language of the human realms.]
Or are you Human?
[Yllathyra smiles and nods her head. She releases the conjured shield and spear. Both arcane weapons vanish into sparks of golden light that shimmer and fade in mid-air.]
So. Human, then. Not the Elven sage Finlarohal’thralas, whom I have been expecting, and whom you appear before me now as the exact image of. Impossible. Illusion magic could change your appearance, but to plant these thoughts in my mind...No, this is something else, ancient and vastly more powerful....
[Yllathyra gasps.]
Or are we in a branching path of the soul stream? I understand the implications since I am essentially the prime Yllathyra. I forge my way, though I know my sandbox limits me to this place and five hundred words.
[The Silver Tower shakes and rumbles. As the walls fall in upon themselves,
