Thank you to Dorcia Beland for her assistance in editing this story. Lisa Fredrickson and Rachel Pudsey were both incredibly helpful in creating this story. And a special thank you to my wife for her support and comments that helped shape Lord of the Deep. Most importantly, I would like thank my God, the Father of Heaven and Earth, for inspiring me to write, and for the health and clarity of mind to work on this project.

Mount Downspyre, the mountain under which Kilrack and his friends called home. Kilrack and Kyra flying side by side through a cloudless sky.

Kilrack opened his mind to all those under his protection.

Alara’s muscles flexed with every swing of her hammer as she forged a rod of steel into a sword. Dinah, Kyra’s favorite pukah, touched Gilrod’s boot. The miner’s pick slipped from his fingers and crashed on his toes–his cry of alarm mingled with Dinah’s shriek of delight. Milandra double-checked the previous day’s earnings from weapon sales. Dravaya sat in council
