Psychofinance - Rosario Stefanelli
Single act
Matteo, a university student, enters the office of Dr De Lorenzi, a professor of behavioural investment finance. The young man has a long, slender build. His hair is straight and dark, matted to such an extent that it crushes his forehead, which is not at all spacious. The gaunt face is the backdrop for small eyes and a pointed, cowardly nose. Thin, faded lips complete the high relief. He wears a black coat and a pair of jeans, ridiculously long, the flaps of which, by now washed out, contribute to the cleanliness of every room the young man finds himself in. In the cramped and dimly lit room, his back is turned to a good-looking young woman. She is wearing a white silk blouse that slips over a skirt with a well-defined slit that allows a glimpse of shapely legs. The long blond hair not only frames the bony face, but also illuminates it in the stark, austere spectrum. The large eyes, pronounced lips and harmonious nose reverse the picture from which shines a determination that is by no means resigned. The features seem too swaggering not to counterbalance the student's alexithymic expression. The woman is seated in front of the desk. The posture seems expectant. Matteo seems intimidated by that posture that is not at all subdued. The student remains standing
STUDENT If you want you can sit here
Pointing to the chair at her side
STUDENT As long as there is room
MATTEO There are only two of us?
Matteo very slowly sits down
STUDENT Hopefully no more will join us
Matteo shows an astonished expression
STUDENT So we can get rid of more doubts
MATTEO Oh sure
STUDENT But I doubt it. It's a tough subject. They'll come
MATTEO So there are many of us who don't follow
STUDENT Even if the teacher makes believe they're not, I think they are. Everyone talks about her like she's a proud girl. Have you ever seen her?
MATTEO No, it's the first time I've been to her studio
STUDENT Do you miss her a lot?
MATTEO two exams
STUDENT Oh lucky you. I'm halfway through
MATTEO Sooner or later it will pass
STUDENT Have you done statistics yet?
MATTEO One of the first exams
STUDENT Now I can't put it off any longer. The university realises very well the motto that sooner or later the knots come to the comb. And there are no shortcuts. Aren't there?
MATTEO I
