About this ebook
Let me share a short story with you. When I was in high school, I had a new Spanish teacher who had never taught before. He came in and did not provide the class with any ground rules. He didn't explain his expectations for the class. He didn't explain his rules. He didn't explain to us what he wanted us to get out of the class. The students had no idea. It's almost like if you were to go on a date, and you didn't know where you were going to take your date to eat, or if you wanted to go to see a movie or a play. If you haven't planned out your classes' direction, you're not going to know how to get there.
In this case, the teacher didn't plan for the future. I can tell you, the class was chaotic. People were throwing paper balls. Students were passing love notes. People were getting up walking in the hallway. Kids were telling jokes. It was crazy. One day, out of frustration, he yelled out, "Shut up!" Let's just say that was his last day teaching.
My goal is to empower you with the proper tools and a few tips and tricks that you can use in your classroom today, so you won't have an experience like my 10th grade Spanish teacher.

If You Don't Have Classroom Management, Nothing Else Matters - Dean Johnson
About the Author
––––––––
Welcome to If You Don’t Have Classroom Management, Nothing Else Matters: Classroom Management Mastery for New Teachers. My name is Dean Johnson, and I am so excited that you have invested in this book and more Importantly, you have invested in yourself to become the best educator you can be. Let me tell you a little about this book and about what qualifies me to deliver this content to you. I've taught in the Baltimore Public school system for roughly 10 years. During that time, I taught at two different high schools, which actually turned out to be rival schools. During my time at BCPS, I was both a social studies and special education teacher. I held dual certifications in both disciplines. When I'm not teaching or coaching and helping people, I mainly hang out with my daughter. Her name is Summer, and one of the things that we enjoy doing is go kart racing. During my time as a teacher, I was tenured at both schools. I was invited to come back every year, and I worked with and trained other young teachers. That's the purpose of this book. This book is to get you geared up as a new teacher so when you are evaluated, during your pre and post observations, you'll be confident and assured. Ultimately, I want to bring you success. I hope that you're excited. I'm excited and honored to bring this information to you and to get you on the road to success. If you haven't read my other book dealing with learning styles, you should definitely get a copy. It is very helpful. I am a kinesthetic and visual learner. If you don't know what those things mean, check out my other book and check it out. If you're an educator, it'll surely help you.
The Perfect Classroom
This book is not about your content. One of the concepts I want to talk about first is the perfect classroom. If you were to search Google for the term the perfect classroom, what you would find is a plethora of information. There's some people that say the perfect classroom is a myth. It doesn't exist. I disagree with that. I think you can, as an educated, professional teacher, get your classroom tip top shape and close to perfect. I'm going to teach you how to create the perfect classroom. So, what is the perfect classroom? What does it look like? The perfect classroom is where students are engaged. Your lesson is student centered and students are asking multilayer questions. When the kids ask you questions, you ask them questions. This method is called the Socratic learning style. The way it works is you provide a question to the students and once they
