Introduction
The teaching profession is not an easy road. It’s filled with high and lows, celebrations and disappointments, and is second only to air traffic controllers as the most stressful profession you can have. It’s not strictly a 9-5p.m. gig, but rather a 60-80 hour work week with an ‘in box’ that is always full. You’ll miss out on time with your family and friends as you begin your journey to learn the ropes of being an educator. You can expect to not get much sleep and be under continual constant pressure to do more than you are already doing. Still want to teach? Then, read on, new teacher!
I’ve taught everything from kindergarten to fifth grade for the past 25 years. I don’t profess to know everything. Much of what I’ve gleaned has been from cribbing ideas and classroom setups over the years from veteran and new teachers. And guess what? I’m STILL learning! This is just my way
of doing things in the classroom. If you can glean any useful information, that makes life easier for you and helps your instruction, then that makes me very happy!
