About this ebook
Lorenzo and Giovanna find themselves on the beach after escaping from the business centre where they work. Actually Lorenzo does not work there. He is a performer and that morning, in a suit and tie, he slipped into the lift of the skyscraper. Lorenzo and Giovanna return to the beach after a swim in the ocean. They sit on sunbeds. Next to them are some clothes. A tie, a jacket and a shirt. A little further away, a woman's dress. Giovanna stares at Lorenzo, looking at the horizon. The man in his forties turns smiling towards the woman
LORENZO What are you staring at?
GIOVANNA For a moment I glimpsed a melancholic air
LORENZO The horizon always does that to me
GIOVANNA Only the horizon? I was watching you before you got in the lift
LORENZO Really? How come?
GIOVANNA You intrigued me. I didn't think someone with such sad eyes would be capable of something like that.
LORENZO And yet...
GIOVANNA Maybe I saw wrong. Like a moment ago
LORENZO Surely entering that sewer can't produce joy. But we're at the sea. And above all we have escaped from that insulting life. We can't be sad people
GIOVANNA That's right. And then today the ocean is beautiful
LORENZO You must be proud
GIOVANNA Me?
LORENZO It's also thanks to you that today is beautiful.
GIOVANNA Really?
LORENZO Of course
GIOVANNA I never thought you were capable of such a thing.
LORENZO Believe it
GIOVANNA After what we did this morning, anything can be
LORENZO Absolutely
GIOVANNA Nice to be with positive people. What lightness...
Lorenzo stares at GIOVANNA
GIOVANNA Don't you think it's wonderful
LORENZO Of course it's wonderful
GIOVANNA So if we hadn't done what we did, the sea would be....
LORENZO Horrendous. A lousy day. A stormy sea
GIOVANNA What a bizarre thought
LORENZO Why?
GIOVANNA I like it
LORENZO The fishermen will come to thank you
GIOVANNA Now you're making fun of me
LORENZO Not a chance. You wanted to come here. You did it the way we know how. It's not for everyone. And the sea couldn't help but reward you. The sun, the sky. In short, nature is kind to those who dare to take their lives into their own hands. And you can do it. As early as tomorrow
GIOVANNA What anxiety!
LORENZO Anxious?
GIOVANNA OK we're here, we've got through the boring life, but then
LORENZO Will you have a project?
GIOVANNA No
LORENZO Impossible
GIOVANNA I ran away without thinking of the consequences
LORENZO But inside you knew it could happen. And you must have wandered around in your head for a while about what to do in case the imponderable occurred
GIOVANNA I never thought about it
LORENZO I can't believe it
GIOVANNA believe it. That's how it is
LORENZO I'm sorry. It's hard without a plan, living without a tomorrow, groping in the night. It would put
